Out With The Old, In With The New

I've been going through stuff and organizing, and I had about four items that I donated to the antique shop in town.  Since I gave away a few things, it's always fun to get something new, so I went to visit my friend, a, at the home shop.  I could browse in this shop for a long time, it's so charming.  I bought some purple ornaments for Easter, which I'll show later, and always a huckleberry dark chocolate bar.

My Valentine loves.

Nel and Mia have been sick lately with bad colds, and Mia made them both some tea with berries and rocks.  Such a sweet child.

I have been watching the episodes of The Chosen.  It is about the life and happenings of Jesus and His Disciples.  Jonathan Roumie plays Jesus, and he does an excellent job with every season.  I think the show has something for everyone, and I deeply connected with some of the episodes.  I just finished the third season, and looking forward to season 4 when it comes out.

I came across this photo the other day of my niece, Katie.  It's my favorite picture of her as a child.  She's 33 now, but I think she looks a little like Francesca here.

I went to breakfast with my brother-in-law last week.  It's always nice when he comes into town and we can have a visit.  He brought me some red velvet cookies too.

Felix isn't that sweet little kitty anymore haha.

A person's most useful asset

is not a head full of knowledge,

but a heart full of love,

an ear ready to listen,

and a hand willing to help others.

We had a little sunshine, but we are supposed to get rain and snow later this month.  Actually, January and February are the coldest months here.

Happy Valentine's Day.

The kitten is very cute! We had cats when we married but I'm not really a cat person! Fun to see them though, they are always entertaining!

I am smiling too - love your tea Mia made - hope their colds get better.
I am watching the Chosen too - but here and there - I just can't seem to get connected to it - Kelly doesn't want to see it so I have to watch it when I am alone.
Love Red Velvet cookies and tea.
Who does Felix belong too?
Happy Valentines Day tomorrow.

Dearest Sheri,
Wow, didn't know about The Chosen and they seem to be really good to watch.
Hoping one day to get more caught up and being able to watch these with Pieter together.
It sounds promising that something of that quality and with good morals (!) is being created nowadays — there still is hope.
Love your little peacock cup, looks like a vintage mocha cup. For people in India the peacock has a very special meaning!
For learning more about tea and coffee cups see the most favorite post of all on the sidebar to the right. Surprising...
What a sweet brother–in–law you have and I love the styling you did with his gift for you! ❤️
Felix seems to be a naughty kitty!
Believe it or not, we both biked this afternoon in shorts again it was 70°F but in the shade where lots of trees blocked out the sun—it felt chilly.
We were happy for holding our hot teacups in hand and warming up a bit.
Happy Saint Valentine's Day to you and yours!
Hugs,
Mariette

Happy Valentine's!
I love the quote.
Your family is so good to take care of you and be there for you.
And berries and rocks for tea is just perfect.

Hi Sherie, enjoyed this post and seeing your sweet family in that pretty frame. What a nice keepsake. So nice to have your BIL stop by with a little treat. It's thoughtful things like that that make life sweet. I didn't know you had a kitty. That photo was so funny, I'm still laughing. I always had cats, usually more than one, but when my last one passed away at 18, I decided not to replace her. Cats always found me, not the other way around, so it's only a matter of time. haha! So sorry to hear that Nel and Mia are not feeling well, and so cute that Mia made the 'tea'. She is growing up to be loving and caring like her Grandmother. I haven't heard of 'The Chosen' - It sounds like something I would love. I remember when 'Jesus of Nazareth' came out as a mini-series many years ago - I think it was the mid-70's. I loved that. The quote is beautiful and so true. I think I would love browsing that antique shop with you. This is a good time of year for organizing. We are expecting snow tomorrow. Happy Valentine's Day. Sending hugs, sweet friend xo K

How lovely to see your friend at this her shop. I could browse around there for hours. I also loved your bejeweled frame and treasure of a photo. Mia is such a sweetie making that cute get-well gift. I hope everyone is feeling better by now. A cute picture of your niece and how nice that you can get together with your brother-in-law when he comes into town. The cookies look delicious! I wish mine lived closer but he is in Germany. We enjoy our FaceTime chats though and are overdue for one. I have seen The Chosen advertised and plan to watch it. Cute photo of Felix but not if you are on the receiving end I suppose :) I had many a sweater ruined by my little dog years ago but now it is a special memory and those sweaters are not as important as our time with her. A sweet Valentine teddy with the chocolates. The Kotaku Wamura quote, so true! I thoroughly enjoyed your post Sheri. I have started decluttering and the spirit may be willing but...lol! A super way to end with the sun shining through the pine. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Belated Valentine greetings. That Mia! How sweet!

Between company last week, prepping for a Cork Poppers do, an ear and/or sinus infection, and then this week's mass shooting in our town, I'm so behind blog reading, I'll never catch up! I'll try to take a look at all but not comment and hopefully be back on schedule this week!

Thanks for your quotation.
Wamura is a great mayor. He insisted on building the big wall against tsunami. He said two time tsunami disasters must not be repeated to the three. He finally constructed 15 meter tall wall and helped village people at the tsunami in 2011.

It's so nice to give away things, and then enjoy a bit of a treasure hunt! I love your collection of white stoneware, so beautiful! How sweet of your BIL to bring you sweet treats! I've heard wonderful things about the Chosen too! My kitties are busybodies too - always up some no-good thing... but oh how I love them! Your love quote is lovely! Have a blessed weekend dear friend!

Ah sweet friend such a lovely post full of warm thoughts and gorgeous pictures. I loved those white dishes. So glad to hear that you are enjoying the Chosen. Our church started showing episodes on Sunday evenings last year. I wish that everyone could get the chance to see this series. Our those Red Velvet cookies a lot like eating the Red Velvet cake? If they are - bet they are excellent. Looks like your brother-in-law knows what you like. Hugs!

I really must follow up on The Chosen. We no longer have Netflix but will see if it's on Prime. Our son and daughter-in-law have highly recommended it to us. Your "Valentines" in the lovely frame are so sweet!
