Fall Thoughts

Happy Autumn!

This is our favorite season.

It certainly doesn't FEEL like fall yet

But, I'm looking forward to this magical season, which will be here before we know it.

Cool and crisp air; boots and scarves; pumpkin decor and goodies; all things October!

Has Autumn arrived at your home yet?

Autumn Colors

I regularly buy myself flowers. I think it's a wonderful way for a woman to show herself a little love. Fresh bouquets have a way of brightening up the room and making everything seem just a bit more cheerful.

I usually try not to spend too much, but this fall bouquet was a bit of a splurge. I couldn't resist though. I just loved the variety of blossoms.

Autumn is just around the corner, and after my first hot and humid Georgia summer, I'm looking forward to crisp air, crimson leaves, and, of course, pumpkins!

Ozzie is too.

I'm working through each room of my new house slowly but surely, adding a bit of color here and a touch of happiness there...

...and when I need a break from housekeeping, there always seems to be a sweet peach drink nearby.

Are you doing anything special to welcome the new season?

A Victorian Honeymoon

A friend told me the word "honeymoon" comes from a time when newlyweds would spend a whole month (or moon cycle) together on their honeymoon.

Is this true? If so, we really should make that a standard again!

Welcome to our honeymoon in beautiful and romantic Victoria!

Victoria is on Vancouver Island, which is on the west coast of Canada, and it's the capital of the province, British Columbia.

We thought Victoria would be the perfect blend of both of our styles. Its rugged Pacific northwest coast appeals to my husband, and the romance and European influence captures my heart.

There's so much to do and see in this beautiful city. Victoria is famous for its gardens, and in the summer, the streets are adorned with hanging flower baskets.

We visited the famous Butchart Gardens.

After exploring the gardens, we had a gourmet picnic dinner and watched the fireworks together. The forest backdrop made the firework show especially unique.

We took a horse carriage ride (something I've been wanting to do for a long time!), and we learned about Victoria's history.

We had tea time at the famous (and VERY pricey!) Empress Hotel. (But it was worth it. :-)

We went whale watching and saw orcas while the sun was setting.

And after all the work and time spent planning a wedding, I made sure we had time to just relax and enjoy each other's company. Our hotel upgraded us to a fancy suite on our last day. The room was amazing and we had the best view of the Inner Harbour!
(The Union Club of British Columbia...we loved our hotel!)

I hope you enjoyed a peek into our honeymoon. I think we should take another honeymoon next year...and the year after that...until we get our full moon cycle of honeymoons. ;-)

Just Because

Bought this pumpkin
spice taffy yesterday.  It's
pretty good.

The blue jays are very pretty,
but I don't like their call,
it's piercing.

Saw this fellow
while driving on a
country road.

Got up very early
one morning and saw this.

There's a man on
the trail
that takes care of the
bird houses,
such a nice thing to do.

These guys crack me up.

What if I fall?
Oh but my darling, what if you fly?

Jess shared this pic
of  Teddy on
her honeymoon.

Blue jeans, red rose, and coffee
It doesn't get much better
than that.  ; )

Wishing you pleasant
September days.
