Love is in the Air: A Bridal Shower

Bonjour

Χαίρετε

Grüezi

You've just landed at Jess' Bridal Shower.

Welcome!

Mom and Nel worked so hard to throw me the most beautiful bridal shower.

The theme was, "Love is in the air". The decor and food were inspired by three of my favorite places in the world:
France, Greece, and Switzerland.

Nel even made a Traveling Teddy banner featuring his visits to these three countries.

With help from my future mother-in-law and my Aunt Mona, delicious Euro-inspired dishes were served, including Greek salad, Pastitsio, croissants with ham and Swiss cheese, French pastry puffs, spinach dip, olives (my favorite!), and more.

We had a lovely mimosa bar,

and desserts at each hot air balloon:
Greek lemon shortbread cookies, French macarons, and Swiss chocolate.

As if there wasn't enough dessert, Mom ordered these amazing cupcakes...but they were gone before I could get a photo of them!
...

We played two bridal shower games. One was called, "He Said...She Said" where guests had to guess if the bride or groom made the statement.

We also played, "I Do", where guests had to finish the sentence, "I do..." on small cards. I read all responses and chose the one I liked best. They could be funny or loving responses. The winner wrote, "I do...promise to love you, respect you, and travel the world with you!"

I was given so many thoughtful gifts for my upcoming journey as a married woman.

One gift was a handmade crate filled with wine bottles for "firsts", with a clever poem on each label.

So creative!

While I was opening gifts, Nel was a busy bee making my bouquet out of wrapping paper remains for the rehearsal.

Can you believe she MADE this?? (I think she may be an elf.)

Life has been far from perfect lately, but my bridal shower was beautiful and perfect in every way.

Thank you, Mom and Nel!

I hope you've enjoyed your journey to my bridal shower.
Float back soon.  ; )

The Marvelous Spatuletail

I wanted to share with you this amazing hummingbird.  It's called the Marvelous Spatuletail.  He's about the size of your thumb, but has these long, brightly colored tail feathers that look like spatulas, and he lives in Peru.

You can watch this
little video
of him.

Isn't he incredible?

We'll be showing you
some pictures
of Jess' shower next.
It was a long day, but
everything turned out very nice.

Shower Details

Me and Nel are getting
things ready for
Jess' shower this weekend.
Lots to do.
I'll show you more of the
décor, games we played, flowers,
food, and gifts a little later.

This French pink lemonade
is the drink we will
be serving.  It tastes so good.

Some goodies for Jess.  : )
I loved this pink
and gold wrapping paper.

I do hope it turns out
to be a good day
for all.

Bunny Dome

My aunt sent my fiancé and I a gift from our wedding registry.

It just so happened to be one of the items I wanted most...

It's a mini-bunny dome!

I'm in love with bunnies AND all things miniature, so it was the perfect little addition to our home. :-)

My fiancé volunteered to bake a mini-cake to fit inside.

I thought that was such a sweet idea ;-)

June Days

Gardenia or Camellia, not sure?

There are lots of palm trees in California.

These purple flowers were growing on the lovely church grounds.

There are many Robins in my town.

I may or may not have bought Jess a wedding gift at Sur La Table.  ; )

Pink roses at the rose garden I visit sometimes.

I got a surprise in the mail from my blog friend, Jemma.  It was from a give-away she was having and I won.  It looks even prettier in real life.  Tiny diamonds on the corner of the print and on the perfume bottle.  Jemma, I found just the place for it, right on my vanity table.  Thank you, dear friend.

These yellow lilies are in the front of my house.

Strangest tree.....the branches were reddish.

It's nice to see these on mornings when I get my coffee.

Just bought this magazine.  Love homemade brownies.  : )

Summer days are here again.

Mother-Of-The-Bride Dress

I went shopping for a mother-of-the-bride dress this week, and I have to say that it was no fun........mainly because there's not a lot of cute styles out there right now.  I started out at Macy's, found something pretty but wanted to shop around, went to five other shops, and ended up at Macy's.  I didn't find anything more appealing than the first dress I saw.  I was determined to get something that day, and I'm glad that I did because the Fall collections will be coming out soon.  My dress is lace in a mocha color, and it will go well with her wedding colors.  I think Jess will be pleased with it.  Here's a peek of what it looks like.

Trying to find a
mother-of-the-bride dress
is not easy.
I'm glad that's done.
Check.
(an inside joke between me and Jess).  ; )
Now, all I need to get
is shoes, jewelry, and a handbag.

It won't be long now, Jess.
