Sometimes Imperfect Is Beautiful

Me and husband took a drive out in the country,

and stopped at a place that makes the best tacos.  After lunch, we drove through the town and checked out the sights.

This reminded me of Nel and Jess.

We went to the farmer's market in the town square and bought some home-grown tomatoes from a local farmer.

Later, we stopped for a cupcake at this charming pink sweet shop.

On the way home, we saw a field of sunflowers.  It was so hot out, that the  petals on the sunflowers were drooping in the scorching heat.  Still, I thought they were so pretty.

things that are
odd and imperfect -
they are much
more interesting."

I can't tell you how much
I appreciate our rides
in the country.

Me Time

Jess gave me these charming bath soaps for my birthday a couple weeks ago.

Aren't they so cute?

My husband is playing poker with the boys tonight, and I think it's the perfect time for a little pampering.

I plan to add a few of these scented rose petals to a nice hot bath...

pour myself a glass of wine...

and relax with the girls!

After a long work week, could you ask for anything more? Wishing you a relaxing weekend!

The Heart of Summer

We're in the heart
of summer here
in California,

and here's a
few pictures to see
what it looks like.

This little guy is
feeding on the bugs
from the sky.

Is that a raindrop I see?

Cool....it's raining!

But only for a
few minutes.
The sun is coming
through again.

We have three July
birthdays in my
family.

I see a lot of these
around here.

There's something
about red flowers that
gets me every time.

What do you think
about the new quotes
on the Starbucks
cups lately?

May your shutters be open

to the summer breeze

and new possibilities.

Sheri's Thoughts

I was at the park yesterday sipping on my morning coffee listening to the birds sing, watching the summer breeze shake the trees, when all of a sudden a woman pulled up in the space next to me.  She was crying and looked very upset, and before I had a chance to ask her if she was ok, she lit up a cigarette, paused for a few moments, and was on her way.  I felt bad for her and thought to myself,  "why does this world have to be so complicated sometimes?"  I wish we could make life simple for others, I wish people didn't have havoc in their lives, and I wish we would exude kindness to the broken-hearted people of the world.

Young At Heart

A few pictures of
Nel's birthday.
When I found this
bracelet for her,
I thought it was so
vintage looking.

Some French chocolates.
I loved this necklace
she was wearing.
Later on,
we went to the deer
park.  We call it that
because we have been
seeing many deers
there lately.
Nel and her brother
swinging on the
swings.  Some things
never change.
Have a good week.

A Lovely Fair Maiden

Once upon a time,
long ago,
a young woman who
lived in an enchanted forest
gave birth to a sweet
baby girl.

She named her Danelle.

She grew up to be a joyful
child loved by all.
Even the creatures of the
sea adored her.

The animals in the forest
loved her as well,

and the trees came alive when
she sat underneath them.

She was so smart that
nothing got in the way of
her dreams, and she
soon became the teacher
of the woods.

The people of the forest
made her their
princess.

She worked all the time,
and gave so much of herself
to help others.
Her mother insisted that
she have a day of rest with a
celebration on the day
she was born.

Danelle  knew how
much she meant to her
family and friends.
  She came to
the celebration to find
presents, laughter, and fun,
but she found much more.
She received the
greatest gift of all...
the gift of love.

Happy Birthday
Nel.
