Just Because

Not sure if you remember the gnome kit I got the kids back in Feb.  Well, Jess and Francesca just put them together on their Summer break, and had a fun time creating them.  I think they turned out really cute.

Also, uncle b. got the kids the Legos castle in Frozen, and they just put together Anna's castle.  Jess said it was a perfect gift cause Francesca already had Elsa's, so now she has Anna's too.

I saw this fellow through the window, and took a few pictures until I shooed him away.  He's a pretty bird for sure, but I can't tell you how many holes he's pecked under the eaves of my house, and his constant knocking is sometimes a distraction.

I went to the home shop and talked with the owner, A, while I browsed.  I've always loved this statue when I visited in the past, so I bought it.  It was filled with grapes and greenery, but I thought it was too much, so I took it out, and placed a simple blush rose in it.

My son had the day off from work, and went down the mountain into the city for the day.  He had a great time, and brought me home some goodies, as he knows I don't drive to the city that often.  Whooohooo, a big box with all my favorite pieces.

I've been dealing with a big plumbing issue at my house all last week.  But thanks to my brother and a good plumber, it's almost finished.   My first peach rose bloomed at just the right time (peach rose symbolizes gratitude).  It made it through the cold winter and snow.

My pink rose bush also made it through the winter.  We have some pretty harsh weather here during that time, and I was surprised to see it sprouted up again this Spring.

Francesca is on Summer break from school, and Jess always finds wonderful cafes and places to get a treat and spend some time together.

My son fried up some battered shrimp one night with his own special sauce to go with it.  It was really good.

I've had lots of things to take care of this month, plumbing issues, car maintenance, dental work, and sometimes it all seems to come at once, doesn't it?  So, I thought I'd cook a meatloaf one night for comfort food.

I saw this card at the store and thought it was so pretty.  I want to frame it sometime.  I'd like to have more florals in my home this Summer.

When I look at this picture of Mia, it takes me back ** years.  I looked a lot like her when I was a child.

  Happy Summer!

See what I mean.....

Claremont Village

When I visited So Cal recently, we went to many different places, and one of them was Claremont Village.  I always have to make a stop here when I visit, cause it's such a neat place with good restaurants and plenty of cute shops to browse at.  It's a must to go to Some Crust Bakery and get one of their warm blueberry Danishes to enjoy with our coffee.  It has a quaint atmosphere with workers that are very friendly and helpful.

Mia loves the blueberry Danishes too, and gets excited when she hears we're going to the bakery.  She calls them Dinishes.

It's time to do some shopping, and I have to stop at my favorite shop that has many unique and eclectic items.  I usually buy something here, but didn't find anything today.

It's time for lunch, and this little taco shop has the best tacos that I've ever tasted.  I've tried lots of tacos in my day, and these are incredible.  At first, I thought it was just a taco stand to order and pick up, but there is a small area in the back with a canopy to sit and enjoy your food.  There was a donkey carved out of wood and pretty red tropical flowers.  I don't have the pictures anymore, but I did manage to save a picture of the delicious tacos.

Afterwards, we walked around and did some more shopping, and noticed this little donut shop that makes miniature donuts.  Kind of pricey, but we bought a few to take home to enjoy with our coffee that evening.

It's always a fun time visiting Claremont Village.  Nel and Jess sometime go there for the day, and have dinner at one of the many restaurants that grace the streets of the village.

In other news......

Francesca lost her first tooth!

Jumbled June

Oh no, June has started off on the wrong foot.  Last week, I lost all my photos and photo files!  Don't know how it happened, and I was very disappointed at first, but I have been wanting to go through my pictures and delete and organize, so this was a faster way to do that haha.  I still have some of the pictures from my So Cal trip, so I'm very relieved about that.  I've had a plumbing issue with the kitchen sink that I've been dealing with also.  Losing my photo files was a bummer, but it gives me a chance to create new photos and new moments.

I saw this ladybug painted rock at World Market when me and Jess and Nel were out shopping one day.  I had to bring it home with me.

You know how much I love See's candy! - I was surprised when Jess got me a chocolate candle from See's!

I have been wanting to visit my church and have the Priest bless this beautiful Rosary that Nel brought back for me from her trip to England.  He gave me Communion while I was there also.

I had a nice talk with the Priest for awhile, and afterwards I walked around the grounds and took some pictures.

Saint Francis statues

Not sure what these purple flowers are, but they were lovely with the sun shining on them.

I always stop by and say hello to Mary every time I visit the church.

This is where the church stands, surrounded by the woods, with a view of the mountain in the distance.

My new Pink cup.  I have a thing for different coffee cups, and need a change every now and then.  ; )

My son made a New York steak dinner one night.....delicious.

We've had some rain, and Tuesday night we had thunder - it was the loudest, most powerful thunder I've ever heard.  The rain has helped with the plants, and my white flowering bush has blossomed to the fullest.  Can anyone identify this - I've been told a few different things?

Some days when I don't feel like cooking, I will drive through and get take out.  I've ordered cheeseburgers, pastrami sandwiches, and fish and chips there, and all pretty good.  I call it the little Pink building.

The start of June has been messy, all jumbled, but being in nature seems to put things back in perspective.

Have a  good June week.
