Stop and Smell The Roses

This is the last of my summer roses.  I have a feeling that they will only bloom for another month.  When I saw the color I thought it was very unique - a combination of pink and coral.  They stand in my front yard and I smile every time I pass them.

whether nice
people tend to
grow roses,
or growing
roses makes
people nice."

Have a nice weekend, friends.

A Parisian Bridal Shower

We just hosted Nel's Bridal Shower, and it was a success!

Since she and her new husband will soon be off to Paris for their honeymoon, we thought it would be fitting to throw her a Parisian Soirée.

The color scheme was turquoise with black and white damask designs.

We prepared the French inspired food and drinks.

The chocolate fondue provided a sweet touch.

Our talented friend, Marcia from The Shop Around the Corner sent us the most beautiful tags that we used as favors.

They arrived in elegance and even came with a lovely scent!  She personalized the back of the tags with Nel and her fiancé's name.

For the decor, we printed black and white photos from our own trip to Paris as the photo line centerpiece.

I made tags for guests to write special marriage advice for Nel and hang on the photo line when finished.

We purchased three dazzling dress forms from our friend, Anita at Castles Crowns and Cottages and displayed them throughout the party.  The skirts really brought out the pop of color we needed.

After some final touches and decor, the Soirée was ready!

The gift table was filled with pretty presents for a pretty lady.

Our aunt made Nel the ring bearer pillow out of the fabric used for our mom's wedding dress 32 years ago.  Isn't it gorgeous?

One of our friends at the party created a "flower bouquet" out of the gift tissues and bows for Nel to practice walking down the aisle during the rehearsal.  So creative!

After all of the party planning and preparing, it was so nice to relax and enjoy each other's company...we celebrated, laughed, and helped prepare Nel for her upcoming big day... Only 4 weeks away!

Your Thoughts

My cousin received this 'thought for the day' from her yoga teacher and she passed it along to me.  I loved this.

"The soul is dyed
the color of
its thoughts.
Think only
on those things
that are in
line with your
principles and
can bear the
light of day.
The content of
your character
is your choice.
Day by day,
what you choose,
what you think,
and what you do
is who you become.
Your integrity is
your destiny...
it is the light
that guides
your way."

Hot Days

It sure has been warming up around here lately. How have you been cooling down in this heat?

By lingering indoors?

Finding shade under a tree?

Going for a swim?

Through The Sprinklers

I was at the park the other day, and as I was sitting there drinking my coffee, the sprinklers came on.  Through the sprinklers shined a beautiful rainbow.  I think rainbows are special, and that when we see them, it is a gift.

The colors of the rainbow,
So pretty in the sky.
Are also on the faces
of people going by.
I see friends shaking hands
Saying, "how do you do?"
They're really saying,
"I love you."

lyrics of
What a Wonderful World
Louis Armstrong

If you ever see a rainbow, be sure to tell me.  I'd love to hear your story.

This Is Where My Story Begins

Today,
I have been
married for
 32 years.
I was so young,
 only 20.
Can I ask you
a question?
What was I thinking?
That's just it -
I wasn't thinking,
I was in love.

This is my wedding box.
Come along with me
and see what's inside.

Oh,
here's tickets to
my Senior Ball.
Yes, we go
way back.

A card that
I gave him
once.

We used to listen to
Rod Stewart
all the time,
and even saw him
in concert.

A golden key
to my heart.
Although, there
were times
when I slammed
the door
and locked it.
;~)

Here is a couple
pictures.
One of them
is the church
we used to go to
when we
were dating,
and the other
is the
Austin Healy Sprite
we used to
drive around in.
That car took us
everywhere.

I don't know
how our story
will end.

I started out
like this.

And I hope
to end up
like this.

Handmade Doll

When I saw this doll on the sweet blog, Boise-Fleurie, I had to take a second look.  She has long brown hair, curly hair, is wearing purple, which is my favorite color, and looks a bit Bohemian, which I love.  I left a comment on her blog saying, "She reminds me of ME!"  After that, she put the doll in the mail and sent her to me as a gift!  I was so surprised and thankful when I opened up the package and saw her.

She has diamond beads on the front of her dress, lace leggings, and darling shoes.

Coming all the way
from France
to my home.

I think she's the
prettiest doll
I've ever seen.

Please stop by Boise-Fleurie if you get a chance.  She's so talented, and has a lovely blog.

Pizza & A Movie

There's nothing quite like homemade pizza, don't you agree? Well then, let's make some! We'll let the dough set for about 20 minutes...

Chop up a few fresh veggies (peppers and green onions happen to be a favorite of mine)...

Add a little sauce...

And some cheese...

A bit of prosciutto...

And there you have it!

Done already? Well then, let's dig in!

Shall we put on a movie? This one always makes me smile.

My favorite part is when Francesca (Diane Lane) is learning to cook and finally makes a beautiful Italian meal to the applause of all her new friends. Cooking is an art, don't you think?

What dish do you like to make with your favorite movie?
