Rose Garden

The first blooms
of my summer
roses.

They started out
a darker pink,
and turned into
a lighter pink.

its beauty but

Have a nice
Sunday, dear.

Old Things

Mother's Day is
around the corner,
and I've been
thinking of my
mom a bit.
Here are a few
lovelies that
belonged to her
that I'd like
to share.

She had this
jewelry box for
many years, and
since I love hearts,
it is special to me.

She gave me and
my sister this
sweet ceramic
tea pot.

These candle
holders belonged
to her mother.
They are very old.

Aren't these
vintage earrings
and purse pretty?

Every time I went
to her house, this
figurine always
caught my eye.

A card she gave
me and my family.

And a special note
she wrote that I
will cherish forever.

I keep them all
in this box,

and every now
and then, I will
open the box,
browse through
these items, and
think of her.

Is there something
that is special to
you that you could
never give away?

Lake's Beauty

Recently, me and
my husband went
to the lake.  It's
been a long time,
and we forgot how
peaceful it was.

This is the spot
me and my friends
used to hang out
when we were
teenagers.

The view was
so pretty.

The sun
glistening on
the water.

A flock of ducks
enjoying the day.

Some young
girls riding their
beautiful horses.

A black crow
stripping bark
off the tree.

A stand up
paddler out for
some morning
excercise.

Driftwood
coming inland,
and heart-shaped
rocks.

We spotted this
little squirrel
before he tried
to hide.

These purple
flowers were
lovely.

A message
from husband.

Oh, the beauty
of the lake.

Flowers for Moi

I was recently inspired by my lovely mom's resolution to buy herself flowers more often, and I decided to make it a goal of mine to buy myself flowers once a month.

Why not, right?

As a graduate student, I am living on a tight budget right now, but treating myself to flowers sounds like an excellent way to brighten up my week and celebrate me.

This month I decided to purchase flowers that I can plant since my green pot has been lonely for some time. I plan to put them on my front porch to welcome me home each day.

I found these bright begonias, and I am hoping they will blossom. I haven't a green thumb, but hopefully they will survive!

What is your favorite flower?

A Beautiful Soul

My beloved cousin,
Kimberly, just passed
away.  Last Thursday,
the Lord called her
home.

Kim was my favorite
cousin.  She was the
same age as me,
and we used to
spend many days
with eachother
when we were kids.

My friend, Tina, used
to give me surprise
birthday parties, and
Kim was always there
early helping out and
taking care of
whatever needed
to be done.

We took swimming
lessons, and at the
last day received
our certificates.
We were so happy,
and relieved.

She was in my
wedding, and I
was in hers.

I got to see her a
couple weeks ago.
We had a nice visit.
She still had the
most beautiful smile
that I remembered.

Kimberly...
you were kind
you were smart
you were caring
you were gracious
you were everything
a woman should be.
you are a part of me
now and forever.

As I am writing this,
a couple of turkeys
have appeared and
are playing side
by side.

Yes, me and Kim,
a couple of turkeys
playing side
by side.

My Special Friend

One of my favorite things to do is spend time with my son.  Is there someone you just "connect" with?  Well, that's how it is with me and him.  He makes me laugh, we share stories, he's respectful, and he's one of those people that you just want to be around.  When he was little I used to swing him on a tire swing all the time that was in my aunt's front yard.  This isn't a picture of him, but it sure brings back those sweet memories.

Now, I'm not a big fan of tatoos, but when he came home with a cross on his arm, I couldn't help but smile.  Before he got the tatoo, I told him that he should know what the holy cross means before putting it on his body.  After telling me, in his own words, I realized he knew exactly what it means, and I am so pleased to know that it is written in his heart.

We go and get a bite to eat once a week and catch up on the happenings of our lives.

Being so active with work, studying, hobbies, working out, he still makes time for good ole' mom, and I am so thankful for that.

He is like a light in the window on a dark day.

Is there someone that makes you feel happy every time you're around them?
