One And Only

I have been missing my mom lately.  No really, I have been aching for her.  I'm not sure why, maybe because Mother's Day is in a week or so.  You only have one mom, and when she's not around, you miss her terribly.

She had five chickadees, and I was her youngest.

She was a fantastic woman devoting much of her life to her family.

She is my one and only mom.

She used to love this song, and I can see her now dancing in her kitchen while listening to the music.  It's an oldie, but I'm sure some of you still remember it.

I can see the light in your eyes, mom.

Walkabout

Life is hard

but so very beautiful.
~Abraham Lincoln

I think we can often find God's presence in the beauty of nature.

A simple and quiet walk through the park always seems to revive my spirit.

Have a pleasant weekend, friends.

Lunch With My Best Friend

I went out to lunch with my son yesterday, and I always have a fun time whenever we get together.

He makes me laugh and let's me be me, faults and all, without judging or criticizing.  He is one of a kind.

He is like a gentle brook flowing free,

and strong and robust at the same time.

When he was a little boy, I gave him some money to buy something at one of the neighborhood garage sales.  He came home with a figurine of a cottage and said it was for me.  I wonder if he knows I kept it all these years?

Is there someone in your life that lets you be you, and who makes your day a little bit brighter just by being in it?

Girlfriends Make Me Laugh

I met three of my girlfriends that I went to high school with today for lunch.  We all had a great time eating, catching up, and laughing at old times.

My best friend is visiting from out of state, and all of us girls really miss her.  I hope she moves back to California some day.  I met her last weekend with the husbands included, and in this picture we were laughing over something funny that was said.

me on the right.

She bought me a gift for my birthday, which is in May, but she won't be here at the time, so she gave it to me now.  I loved it, and know the perfect place for it in my home.

I hope to get together with my friends again soon.   We have been through a lot together, and have known each other for many years.  We will continue to remain friends through the years, and hopefully grow old together.

A Tea With A Good Cause

I saw this tea
at the store, and
just had to
buy some.
They support the
International Fund for
Animal Welfare.
The tea tastes
good, and you'll see
why I couldn't
resist buying it.

Each packet is
individually wrapped
with a tag of
a red rose.

My new red cup
from Anthropologie.

Speaking of red...
who said bunnies
have to be in
pastel colors?

What A Wonderful World

When my father passed away, our family, along with the support of many good people, set up a charitable fund in his name to provide clothes for low-income children in the school district.  This last weekend, I went to the fundraiser dinner that helps raise money for the shopping that happens twice a year for these deserving kids.  The night was fun, and it is our special community which makes it the wonderful event that it is.

This is my favorite song, and I chose this version because it is sung by children.

Let us all have the heart of a child.

I Got The Sun In The Morning

You know that you're loved when a blog friend names her rose bush after you.  My dear friend, Teresa, planted a lovely pink rose bush at her home in Portugal, and named it after me.  She called it "Sheri's Rose Bush."  Teresa's blog, I Got the Sun in the Morning, is like a breath of fresh air to me, and if you love quotes, as I do, you will find her blog so inspiring and delightful.  These pictures were all taken by her, and "Sheri's Rose Bush" is coming alive and blooming every day.

Teresa,
I am honored
I am thankful
And this girl loves you.
