A Little Random Fun

The lovely miss b at bobochic asked me if I would write a few random facts about myself, so here goes......

When I was a young teenager I used to draw and design my own clothes, and my mom would get her sewing machine out and make them.  I even designed my wedding dress.

I have curly hair, and sometimes on special occasions, I straighten it with an iron!

I love Italian food.

I used to go hunting with my dad when I was younger.  What a tomboy I was.

I can write in Calligraphy.

I was a cheerleader in high school.

I love chocolate, and that is my weakness.

It's so exciting having blog friends from all over the world.  miss b is from England, and her blog is interesting, fun, and charming.  Stop by, if you'd like, and visit the lovely miss b. bobochic

So Much Good Food

I went to the Greek food festival with my son this weekend, and it was fun, exciting, and full of life.  I happened to see my two sweet nieces there, which was such a surprise.  I have always appreciated this culture and have been eager to learn about it.  I am so glad to be part of this wonderful heritage that goes back for thousands of years.

We walked all around and browsed through the interesting booths,

ate some delicious foods,

and I even bought a ring for myself.  This one caught my eye.

I have always thought that Greek artwork was so beautiful.

This was the best Greek festival I've been to throughout the years.  It was organized and friendly, and some of the proceeds went to my favorite charity.

Monday's Child Is Fair Of Face

When I had my babies, back in the day, I wanted to go all natural, so I took Lamaze classes, and delivered all three of my children without medication.  Lamaze is known for its rhythmic breathing techniques, which emphasize concentration and relaxation by using focal points.  Nel and my son took about 7 hours, and can you believe I had Jess in 1 hour!  She was my biggest baby, almost 9 pounds, and she turned out to be my smallest child.  Funny how things change.  They were all special and unique in their own way.

This is the poem that I used as my focal point when I delivered Nel.

Monday's child is fair of face,
Tuesday's child is full of grace.
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
Thursday's child has far to go.
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child works hard for a living.
And the child that is born on the Sabbath Day
Is fair and wise and good and gay.

What day of the week were
YOU
born on?

Springtime Roundup

Spring is in full bloom.

Summer will be here soon.

But for now, let's enjoy the season's lovelies.

And how lovely it is to take ourselves back to a simpler time.

To stop,

smell the roses (or another favorite flower),

and appreciate what surrounds us in life.

Have a colorful week, friends.

I Love Presents!

I had a fun birthday yesterday.  I met my sister and brothers for lunch, which was nice.  Nel gave me a gift card from Pier 1 Imports - my favorite shop, and Jess gave me a book.  I used to read the Little Golden Books to my kids when they were little, and when I saw this, it made me smile big.

My sister has a knack of always getting the perfect gift for someone, and she gave me a gorgeous antique bowl showing a woman in the 1800's, some cherub angels, and my favorite gift from her was a red rose tea cup and saucer.

My son made me homemade pizza.  He's a good cook, which is one of his many talents.

I love birthdays, and
I love getting presents!
and
I'm so glad that I had
YOU
to share my special day with.
