Where The Road Takes Me

I have just been getting ready for my short trip to see my best friend, getting essentials and making sure I have everything for the road.  I needed a purse cause my old one ripped, and found a cute one on-line, which Nel ordered for me.  The big beads are really in right now, and I like the soft material it has.

Nel and Renecke visited the winery for a day trip, along with her sister-in-law and some others.  She had a fun time, and it was good to get away from her work and other duties that pile up.

Do you know southern California and northern California have some of the loveliest wineries?

I ran into a woman in town that I've known since I moved here.  We talked for a long time.  She is really a genuine lady and does so much for others.  I met her at the grocery store, where she picks up groceries for people who aren't able to do it themselves.  She is at the store nearly every day!  It was good catching up with her.  She told me to stop by her house this Spring and Summer, and we could sit on the front porch and have a drink and talk.  She lives in town, where I live on the outskirts of town, closer to the woods.  She said to just go down this road, and you'll see the little yellow house.  I think I will do that.

Speaking of yellow, I found some pretty yellow wrapping to wrap a few goodies that me and uncle b. bought the kids.

A batch of chocolate chip cookies always makes the day better.

The month of March went pretty fast, and we've had sunny days, but it's still really cold in the mornings, in the 20's and 30's.  I noticed some geese near the road while driving, so stopped for a moment.  I am starting to see them come around more.

And some pink at Jess' house.  She found these bunny cookies at a really good bakery in her town.

Just Because

We've had lots of rain lately, and more to come this week.  The creek is filled with water, and it's so full that you can't even see the dividing lines like you used to.  Reflections on the water.

I noticed three geese from a distance on the water.  It was hard to see them, as they blended in with the greys and browns of Winter.

Safely on land.

There are dozens of black cows grazing at the cow farm, and I saw one cute brown one, maybe a calf?

An Easter treat, Palmer peanut butter cups.  I love Palmer chocolates during the holidays.

Made some cranberry bread.  Remember I told you how I love the center piece of brownies, cakes, and desserts?  I chuckled when I saw that my son had taken the center piece of the bread.  I guess it runs in the family, and I can totally relate.  ; )

I saw four California Quail outside my window.  I love this plump bird, he cracks me up.  And I've only seen him in the mountains where I live.  These two just waited for the others to catch up.

Mia wanted to dress up like a Unicorn on St. Patrick's Day.

My kids have always loved St. Patrick's Day.  Jess had Lucky Charms in the morning, and she made gourmet baked potatoes, tri tip, and green apple juice for dinner.  She found a leprechaun too!

My sister called me, and we talked for a long time.  I'm so glad that I have a sister to tell my "things" to, and that I can just be my funky self talking with her.

I visited the antique shop in town.  Didn't buy anything, but it was fun looking around.  I have also donated a few things there in the past, and I didn't see them, so I imagine they were sold.

The drought situation in California continues to improve across the state.  More rain on the way.

Last Big Snow Storm.....Maybe

We had our biggest snow days on Wednesday and Thursday.  It had to be well into a foot, and the shoveling began.  My car was covered, and I had a dental appt. one day, so I was nervous to drive in it.  But I returned home safely.  I have been drinking green tea lately - my oldest brother first introduced me to green tea, and I think of him when having it.  I've been making no-meat meals, like toasted cheese sandwiches, on Fridays during the Lent season.  My son made a big pot of jambalaya one night, and I believe it was one of his best dishes.  He took a picture to show his sisters of this Cajun Southern dish while we are in the midst of the northern California snow.  California is getting hit hard this Winter with snow, and I hear So Cal is getting some also, with some areas getting extreme snow.  I am planning a short trip to visit my best friend soon.  My other dear friend will join us also.  They have been faithful friends for 48 years, and it will be good to see them.  The days of fun and wonder we shared in our youth are memories that will last a lifetime.  I have lots of snow pictures here, just because it is amazing to me.  It is like God painted the landscape white during this season.  And a few cozy house pictures so you won't get too cold looking at them.  Our road workers, Cal Trans, does an excellent job clearing the roads, and it enables us to get out daily to do what we have to, even on the snowiest days.  The snow also gives me a chance to make a cup of coffee and chat with my neighbor, V, who sits out there on her front porch and takes it all in as well.

The sun always comes out and melts the snow, but when it does, we seem to have a sloshy mess, and the roads get icy and slippery, and we have to be extra careful when driving.

The snow sometimes hardens and turns into ice, and it's hard to shovel then.  You have to break it up until it's soft enough to shovel.  But I will be out there no matter what working away to pick up the Chinese food that I ordered, especially when my son treats.  It reminds me of what my oldest brother used to say, "You Fly, I'll Buy."  I'll always remember that.  I guess I've been thinking about him lately.  Or he's thinking about me.  ; )

Thanks for visiting.  I'm always glad when you do.
