Last Big Snow Storm.....Maybe

We had our biggest snow days on Wednesday and Thursday.  It had to be well into a foot, and the shoveling began.  My car was covered, and I had a dental appt. one day, so I was nervous to drive in it.  But I returned home safely.  I have been drinking green tea lately - my oldest brother first introduced me to green tea, and I think of him when having it.  I've been making no-meat meals, like toasted cheese sandwiches, on Fridays during the Lent season.  My son made a big pot of jambalaya one night, and I believe it was one of his best dishes.  He took a picture to show his sisters of this Cajun Southern dish while we are in the midst of the northern California snow.  California is getting hit hard this Winter with snow, and I hear So Cal is getting some also, with some areas getting extreme snow.  I am planning a short trip to visit my best friend soon.  My other dear friend will join us also.  They have been faithful friends for 48 years, and it will be good to see them.  The days of fun and wonder we shared in our youth are memories that will last a lifetime.  I have lots of snow pictures here, just because it is amazing to me.  It is like God painted the landscape white during this season.  And a few cozy house pictures so you won't get too cold looking at them.  Our road workers, Cal Trans, does an excellent job clearing the roads, and it enables us to get out daily to do what we have to, even on the snowiest days.  The snow also gives me a chance to make a cup of coffee and chat with my neighbor, V, who sits out there on her front porch and takes it all in as well.

The sun always comes out and melts the snow, but when it does, we seem to have a sloshy mess, and the roads get icy and slippery, and we have to be extra careful when driving.

The snow sometimes hardens and turns into ice, and it's hard to shovel then.  You have to break it up until it's soft enough to shovel.  But I will be out there no matter what working away to pick up the Chinese food that I ordered, especially when my son treats.  It reminds me of what my oldest brother used to say, "You Fly, I'll Buy."  I'll always remember that.  I guess I've been thinking about him lately.  Or he's thinking about me.  ; )

Thanks for visiting.  I'm always glad when you do.

Wow -- that's a dazzler. And loads of snow! I hope someone shoveled you out and it's good the road service is good. We always think it is the "last snow." Sometimes we're even right!

Love your little bunny at the end and that jambalaya looks fabulous. I might have to make jambalaya this coming weekend. I haven't in ages and it looks so good and I just love it!

You were not kidding when you said it snowed. My goodness that is a lot of snow. God does paint some beautiful pictures - sometimes flowers - leaves - or snow..
Glad you made it to the dentist okay and hope all was well with that.
I have been drinking green tea too.
That jambalaya looked good too. And I love Chinese too. ☺
Nice you have your next door neighbor there to talk to.
When do you go visit your friends - 48 years is a wonderful amount of time to be friends. I have a couple that long too.
And Georgia has that ice problem if we get any snow - that is what keeps us in.
Great post.

Hi Sheri,
We are receiving a lot of snow this winter season. We have a total of 89 inches this season. We received 8 more inches this weekend. It is pretty and because we had drought conditions last summer, I am thankful for the moisture.
I enjoyed all your photos. :-)

Google and blogspot hate me, so I can't respond with my address.
Beautiful photos! Your snow is down here in Big Bear Mountain down to Idywild, People are snowed in, with no change in site. Running out of food, two deaths so far from lack of electric power. I read today the the firefights are training in snow cats and will take people through the snow and up to a hill to a back road down to San. Bernardino mtns are loaded with so much snow.

Beautiful snow photos; I especially like the one of the wind spinner loaded down with snow. You were brave to drive to your appointment in it!

Dearest Sheri,
Wow you sure got your load of snow!
Makes me feel even colder. Was reading in the veranda and got cold hands and feet so I'm back under the down duvet cover in bed...
A long road to feeling well and getting strong!
But the pain is a lot less.
Did I see you love shrimp crackers? In Indonesia and also in The Netherlands we have the BIG Krupuk. On the flight to Indonesia we had a choice of bread or Krupuk and since I'm a real Krupuk monster (not cookie monster!) it always was my choice.
Enjoy the food you show.
Hugs,
Mariette

Oh My! The bunny wearing a boa makes me smile!
Lots of snow, I am hoping it helps ease up on some of the drought conditions in California. Stay safe on those snowy roads

Wow you did get a lot of snow. I don't like driving in it at all. I would rather stay home. The other day coming home from school it was pouring snow. Huge flakes. It was interesting driving in it. the roads were clear still so it wasn't bad. I am glad you are enjoying it! Have a great week.

Always love visiting you! WOW on the snow. Yep, California like the rest of the US has had a strange winter. However, you guys seem to be getting hit really hard. Winds, rains, snow, ice....crazy. Saw on the news this morning that Northern Calif is not suffering from flooding. I have been amazed at the amount of rain that Southern Calif has had. I keep up with that cause my son lives there. But I flipped when he sent me pics of his car covered in ice, San Diego, low laying San Diego. Crazy crap. I love your snow pics.

The snow is so pretty, Sheri, and you've captured some beautiful scenes out your windows. I'm glad that your road department is keeping everything plowed and safe for driving. When it snows here, we are responsible for our private road which leads to the county road, which they rarely plow, so we have a 4-wheel drive truck with studded tires to get up and down the mountain. Sometimes even that won't make it so we always stock up. I was worried about you when I saw the weather reports, so it is a relief to see that you are doing well with it. The Jambalaya looks delicious, and you know I love Chinese. The quote from your brother is great, love that. The photos of you and your friends are precious and it is so special that you have all kept in touch and meeting again. My sis-in-law was a high-school friend who married my husband's brother, so we go way back, and it is nice to have that long time connection. Your Easter bunnies are so cute. I love the one with the green boa. The Mary Englebreight illustration is so sweet. I saved some of her magazines and books. I do hope the snow is melted before your trip and things dry out so you have safe travels. Sending hugs xo K

Your snow photos are gorgeous but I certainly wouldn't like driving in it. I've been looking at many snow photos in the news and the chaos caused, incredible amounts on the roofs of houses. Good to hear you are okay. I have enjoyed all your photos very much, the food makes me hungry, oh yum! Have a great weekend Sheri.

Ah Sheri I am writing about spring and you are still experiencing winter. Wow your photos are so lovely. I have been hearing about California's winter. It certainly has been cold snowy one. Love the saying of your brother's. Funny how certain things reminds us of loved ones near and far. Bet you are looking so forward to seeing your friends. May you be blessed with a wonderful time. It is always such a delight to come visit you. Take care friend. Hugs!
