Flowers for Moi

I was recently inspired by my lovely mom's resolution to buy herself flowers more often, and I decided to make it a goal of mine to buy myself flowers once a month.

Why not, right?

As a graduate student, I am living on a tight budget right now, but treating myself to flowers sounds like an excellent way to brighten up my week and celebrate me.

This month I decided to purchase flowers that I can plant since my green pot has been lonely for some time. I plan to put them on my front porch to welcome me home each day.

I found these bright begonias, and I am hoping they will blossom. I haven't a green thumb, but hopefully they will survive!

What is your favorite flower?

Hi Jess!

My favorite flower of all time is LAVENDER, but for a vase? White tulips. Pink or white roses come in second and I think I need to buy myself a bouquet once a month too. For my 31st anniversary, I received a beautiful bunch of white tulips that made my home look and feel like something out of a magazine.

Hugs to you and your mom, Anita

This is a wonderful idea... if you like flowers.

When we're at the nest (aka parents' home) it's easy to take those details of beauty and love for granted, or as a natural thing to expect.

As if it is there - to warm, comfort and greet you - out of spontaneous creation... when we're on our own we need to create rituals to keep on feeling, and sharing, the same things...

I'd rather have the lollipops' bouquet ahahahah but then I'm no big fan of indoor flowers (weird I know - one day I'll explain why), I even feel embarassed when people offer me one, because - and there's no way to run from this explanation ;) - since I don't usually have them I don't have, or feel the need to buy, a proper vase. (yeah, I'm that weird).

I have plenty for the lollipops in case you're wondering.

Yes, please, please, Celebrate You!
And all the things you like!!! Please, do!

But if I was going to buy myself flowers I'd go for a bouquet (it will last a while but not too long) something like this:

Poppies! Of course, these are your usual flowers stalls blooms but I am happy with ANY flower! Colleagues used to chide me about the little vase I kept on my desk but as I soon find out, when birthday time came, they pitched in for a few month's supply! I rather have just one bloom than any sweet (and I LOVE chocolate!!)
Happy Spring!

Yes, good for you, flowers just seem to cheer the soul! I may be inspired to go buy a pot plant now and begonias can be so pretty and if they do well, go on and on and on flowering. I have to say though plants don't like my flat for some reason! I'm also going to try herbs and salad leaves on the kitchen window ledge...fingers crossed! x

I like the idea of the sucker bouquet! Have you heard the quote, "If you have two pennies left, buy a loaf of bread with one and a lily with the other." I prefer the lilies, daisies or carnation type flowers because they last a couple weeks or more. Just keep cutting off the ends and refreshing the water. Flowers bring so much joy. My husbands brings wild flower bouquets to me and they are my favorite.

What a great resolution Jess. According to me flowers and Bouquets are the best gift one can gift to himself. For a change you can also gift yourself arrangement of flowers.
