Yard Work

I found a landscaper to help with some of the yard work I've been wanting to get done.  I was fortunate to have him come by for the day cause he doesn't do small jobs in town any more.  When the snow comes, the workers clear the roads so it's safe to drive, but when the snow melts, it creates a big mess on the edges of the street in front of the houses, so they raked up leaves, weedeated the front yard, dug out an old bush, and hauled a few buckets away.  It looks a lot nicer.  It can be a challenge to keep up with the work outside, as I don't have a tarp for all the debris and dirt or a big truck to haul it away, so I'm thankful that my brother helped out with the landscaper like he did.  I'm out there often raking and cleaning and bagging.  It's lot of work, but I don't mind doing chores in the yard, as it can sometimes be peaceful.  The thing is, when you live in the mountains or country, there are those who keep their yards up while others just let it go, and that's just the way of life up here in the woods.   As for me, I love nature, but I still want to spruce up the area I live.  It makes living there much nicer.

I turned on the news one day, and such horrible things are happening in the world.  So, I retreated to nature.  I first drove through McDonald's to get a coffee.  Does anyone love McDonald's coffee like I do?

I saw some horses very close to the edge of the road, so got out of my car to take some pictures.  He came right up to the fence, close to me, and had a gentle nature about him.

The woman there said that I could take pictures of the horses any time, but one day I may be bold enough to ask her if I could ride one.  Yes, I don't just like taking photos of horses, I have a desire to ride them.  After all, if I rode my brother-in-law's horse back in the day, I could ride a horse that was tame.  Her name was Lady, and she was anything but a lady.  She was a wild horse who bucked and wouldn't stop for nothing.  Thankfully, she seemed to like me and didn't buck me off, but it was a ride of a lifetime.  I was a lot younger then, but my spirit remains the same.

We're at the creek, and the drive is lovely.

The sun came out, and I see this tree every time I visit.

I honestly think our mountain is as pretty as Mount Shasta, but then again, not quite as pretty or grand.

There are so many different things that are showing up at the creek this morning.....a hawk, a rabbit, and cows!

The trees are starting to produce their berries for the birds.

And someone put a flag up in support of the Ukrainian people.

On the way home, I saw a ton of logs all neatly stacked, and I heard a logging company acquires this land.

So, with all the madness that is going on in the world, sometimes a visit in nature is just what we need.

Yes, to McD's coffee. And, a sausage biscuit.
Cutting down on sugar, to my surprise, McD's coffee with 2 creams tastes better without sugar.
Beautiful photos

Loved your beautiful photos. I love horses, too. With everything going on in the world I find I need to retreat into nature even more. It’s always been my happy place. Glad you were able to take those moments to appreciate the wealth that God has given to us to enjoy and be caretakers of.

I do enjoy your blog - I’m always happy when it pops up on my feed.

Have a awesome Monday.

I love the photo of you on the spirited horse, and I like your willingness to still have adventures. You could offer the horse's owner some money for a short ride. Sweet painting at the end of your post.

Your photo of the mountains is gorgeous, and is my favorite. And those berries; what a beautiful light blue color! Do you know what kind they are? This is such a sweet horse. I hope you do ask the lady if you can ride her, as she knows you now. You could bring her some treats as well (the horse, not the lady!)

You know when you blog you kind of tell a story - I think that is a talent.
I know just what you mean about yard work - we have a ton of it - and really no way to get it and no place to take it.
Man I too feel so sorry and am in prayer for the Ukraine people and the Russian people who do not want this to happen.
My husband LOVE McCoffee!!!!
Love the horses, cows, mountains and trees near you. I am sad they area cutting down the trees though.
You look like your daughters - you need to put a new one of you now on there.
Love, sandie

So glad you found someone to help you with your yard.
What a pretty horse. I loved one horse when I was young and I was one of very few people that he would let ride him.
Your country side is very pretty. I love driving through that part of California and seeing Mt. Shasta.

Oh, this is such a lovely post. I LOVE your creek...when I was a kid there was a summer or two when I played in the creek almost every single day. Oh, did we ever have fun. I wish every kid had one they could play in any time.

Roger loved McD's coffee...it is his favorite...that is whey we go through the drive through at least 5 days a week.

I need to work in my yard...so bad.

What a fun and interesting post, Sheri. I'm glad you found someone to help you with the basic clean-up. That's always hard but if it's done well at the beginning, easier to keep up throughout the season. I love seeing the area around your home. It's really beautiful -- mountains, water, woods. A little bit of heaven.

Hello, dear friend. Yes. So many horrible things in the world. And yes, to unplugging and getting outside into nature. Thank you for the uplifting post. And I LOVE Mcdonald's coffee! The iced coffee is my favorite! Have a cozy evening in your beautiful part of the world.

I love MCD's coffee too even though I don't drink coffee anymore.(-: I use to stop there on my way to work. It was a lot cheaper too! There is nothing better then a nice drive in the country to get your mind in a better place. I also love horses and have had several in my life. I love riding. When my last one passed I did not buy another one. I wish I had though. I miss riding.

Good morning beautiful friend!

DID YOU KNOW that I would swoon and coo and smile at your horse pictures? And that I too rode twice and though I'm 64 years old now, I still have this sizzling desire to ride one, a gentle one, of course!

Nature has such healing properties to it, doesn't it? Especially horses....and birds....OH! I saw my first bluebird here by the lake near our home. It was a thrilling moment as I didn't know we had them here in the city!

Well dear heart, what are we to do but to pray for the people who are meeting up with the unimaginable...sometimes I go to bed and tell God I have no idea what to do....

Be well my friend.

You know I agree...getting out in nature relieves stress like nothing else can. I love horses and we have lots of them here in Florida. I probably shouldn't try to ride one though! lol Love seeing the photos of the creek. Enjoy your day...and your good coffee! But no...I haven't been to a McDonalds in years! lol

We have extra help in the yard, too much for us to do these days and it always makes me feel better to see it look tidy. McDonalds does have great coffee! We pop through the drive-thru occasionally, usually on our way back from wherever we go during the week, and a cheeseburger and fries every now and again. The news is heartbreaking isn’t it? I wish them the peace and help they need because man’s inhumanity to man is just too much and should not be tolerated by any decent human being. Our neighborhood has many Ukrainian flags, and one I saw next to a Marine flag. It’s a good thing getting into nature. Your horse photos are wonderful! Great photo of you on Lady :) In fact, all your photos are very enjoyable. Thanks Sheri!

That was a lovely post, Sheri. Imagine you riding horses! WOWSERS. I'd love to see you ride. It's very pretty countryside where you live. Glad you have people you know around there, as well, who are part of your history. God bless you, Sheri. You are a huge source of joy in my life. Hugs. Susan

Nature heals. Even from ailments we didn't realize we have until we breath them out when in fresh air, in front of lovely landscape, witnessing the tender Spring comes to life all around.

Do go for that horse ridding. Be free.

Love,

Teresa

Sheri, spring in your world is so lovely! I am so with you - I have to go outside to get my perspective right... the horse is so sweet! Loved the picture of you riding your BIL's horse... and so thankful that you were able to get help cleaning up your yard, what a blessing! Our hearts are breaking for Ukraine... our dear friend who is a missionary there is sharing heartbreaking stories. Our hearts and prayers continue with them. Enjoy the loveliness of a mountain springtime! Blessings and hugs :)

Sheri I do enjoy McDonald's coffee. In fact I am wishing for a cup right now as I read your beautiful post. Yes friend I do find joy in nature and working outdoors. I too can become overwhelmed by the news and what is happening in the world. Two weeks ago I was so blessed to participate in packing food for the Ukraine. Our church was able to pack over 93000 meals to be sent to them. It felt like for a short time we could make a difference. As always I believe our prayers do that as well. I know you are also continuing to "look up". What better place to do this; than in the great outdoors.
Take care dear one and have a lovely weekend. Hugs!

I like doing yard work too. I'm outside every day checking on my plants. Such pretty scenery! And a beautiful horse. I've only ridden a horse once when I was about 12. My aunt lived on a farm and we went for a visit. Even my Mom and Dad got on for a short ride, which my Mom was terrified to do but she did it anyway!

HI Sheri, I am catching up on your posts. Love all your photos and seeing you on your brother's horse. Just looking at her, you can tell she has a bad attitude! haha! I love to ride horses, too. We had ponies for the kids when they were young, and one was big, so I rode him sometimes. We had those ponies for years. They lived out their days here and were like pets. Big, naughty pets that liked to break out and eat my flowers! I miss them still. Nature does soothe the soul when the world seems so out of control. You live in a beautiful place. I just love the view of your mountain with the little farms in the valley. So nice that you had some help with the yardwork. I can relate to how some out in the country let things go. I try not to judge - life is hard for many, I know. I've never had McDonald's coffee - I'll have to try it. I do love their fries. Sending hugs xo K

A visit to nature is always good and really calming. I can understand that you decided to retreat there - the news are so terrible. We have the choice to turn away from it, they don't. It truly makes me sick what is happening and I wish the world could and would do more to support Ukraine.
