Some Flowery Things

Well, I thought Spring came, and then we had rain, hail, sleet, and snow last week.  And I'll take it all.  California really needs the rain, and it was good to see it fall.

If you love Oreos like I do, it might interest you that this is their 110th celebration.  Can't believe they've been around that long.  In 1912, the Oreo cookie was born!

Spaghetti is even better with homemade meatballs to go with it.

My son made enchiladas one day with eggs, ham, potatoes, onions, chili sauce, and cheese.  They tasted a lot like breakfast burritos and were so good.

There's nothing like corn bread, except when smothered in butter.

The California Quail.  This is a handsome fellow, a round bird.  It has a head plume, which looks like a single feather, but is actually a cluster of six feathers.  He is our state bird, and I see an abundance of them in the mountains.  I'll post more about this bird sometime, as they fascinate me.  They often walk in big groups, and I see them trot in my yard all the time.

I know Spring is coming when I see the dandelions on my front lawn....but they do make me smile.

I put out some flowery things just to brighten up my home a bit.

We love our blog friends, don't we?  My friend, Carla, sent me a card in the mail, and I was very surprised and happy to receive it.

I love that little feet ran barefoot searching for eggs on the Easter egg hunt.

Nel's pretty plate she gave me.

Have a good flowery week.

The quail on the fence is a fantastic photo! I thought they were grounded birds that fly. Seeing one perched on a fence is neat. It is a pretty bird.
The food looks delicious.

As a fellow northern Californian, we do live our quail. I don’t see them much unless I go into the country more. Once I did have 3 of them walk through my backyard. It gives me hope. They did it once; they could do it again.

I remember one year we went camping up at Manzanita Lake in Lassen in June. It snowed, rained and hailed all in one day. Crazy. Then as we threw in the towel to leave, the sun came out! That’s mountain weather!

Love that pretty plate, and the cute little bare feet of your granddaughter. This week will be flowery. I plan to do some heavy duty gardening!

Every photo a gem. I adore that robin in the snow. That's just the best photo of a robin that I've seen and so unusual with the snow and blades of grass. What a lovely bird plate from Nel. And I've never seen a quail up close before. It's really a gorgeous creature. What a magnificent state bird. Yes, do post more on him. He's wonderful.

Spring is trying to come to you, Sheri! So happy to see such nice photos of the snow and the dandelions. The sweet robin is certainly wondering what's going on with the weather. Darling feet searching for Easter eggs! And your food always makes my mouth water. The bird plate from Nel is beautiful. Such a thoughtful gift from your daughter. Have a nice week ahead as Spring surely will come soon.

Hi Sheri,
I have been enjoying the winter weather too. I know summer is going to move right in and there won't be anymore cool days. I love your plate, the grands and your yummy food. We have a lot of quail here and we enjoy them so much. That is a sweet card! Enjoy your week!

Awww! Such an enthralling post, Sheri.

Every photo is a treat for sore eyes!

I especially love that robin in the snow.

Hugs and blessings to you, my dear friend.

that precious little angel looked like she was shivering in the snow. The robin was breathtaking. What a gorgeous picture. Your meals so yummy I could almost smell them. I had no idea about Oreos. The cornbread was always on my parents table growing up. You are right. Needs to be smeared with butter to bring out all the goodness. the danelions are all over my front yard too. we stopped using chemicals years ago to be rid of them. now we coexist. Your grands hunting for eggs was delightful. Your teacup sooo pretty. Enjoy your week.

Such variety at your place Sheri, even snow during Springtime. Dear little red robin in the snow. The Quail is a cute little guy too - I bought a pottery one at Santa Fe, years ago. Your little grandies would have loved the Easter egg hunt, and we had the fun of seeing our twin grandies doing something very similar. Happy times for Easter. PS Wooden duck sighting - Yay :)

PS) The hummingbird plate your daughter gave you was lovely, as was your blog buddys pretty card. Life isn't perfect, but it's good

Good morning dear Sheri!

You got snow too! We have been getting snow/sleet/rain and a lot of wind. The temps dropped since my birthday last Saturday when it reached 72 but the weather was awful. Thunderstorms prevented us from going out to celebrate. Yesterday however, we took a little drive and I saw some teeny blue flowers on the lawns...spring is coming to my town!

Dandelions are a messenger of the spring. I love this flower, too.

Hi Sheri. That was a pretty post. The little angel looks chilly in the snow. Hopefully, Robin Red Breast will put her wings around angel and warm her up! That was a pretty card your friend sent. Isn't blogland wonderful? Hugs. Susan

I think the California quail is so pretty. Hopefully I can remember to look it up and see what kind of sounds they make. i would love to see one in person.

So nice to go barefoot!

Oh my goodness what wonderful photos you have on here.
The angel getting snowed on and I love the beautiful red breasted robin - with his feet in the snow. The actual snowflakes and the beautiful green.
I love Oreo's they don't love me tho.
You and your son do enjoy cooking - I agree you have to have lots of butter on the cornbread!
Your quail looks pretty too.
And the blogging world is wonderful and what a sweet gift.
I sent my daughter in law the coffee club - she got her first shipment on the 22 - she LOVED it - any more good ideas send them over.
I enjoyed the read.

Lovely photos. And snow?! It's been cool here in the mornings, but summer is coming. Those cool days are pretty much over and we're seeing 80 during the day now.

Sheri - on no more snow! I bet though it didn't last too long. Like you I am always very happy for the moisture. It takes wet cold days sometimes to make things grow and bloom. It seems as if spring is more likely to stay now. Hoping so. Love your hummingbird plate and bare feet at Easter - wow! May you have a blessed week friend. Hugs!
