Miniature Things

My neighbor gave me some mini roses that she had.  She never planted them cause she said roses don't grow well for her, and I said, "really, that's usually the only flower that blooms for me."  As I mentioned before, it's hard to get a landscaper up here in the mountains, so I thought I'd give it a try and plant them myself.  Before I moved in, my brother had many garden tools stacked in the patio area - he thought of everything, and I've been using all of them this Spring around the house.  One of the rose bushes is pink, but my neighbor forgets what the other one is, so it will be a surprise when it blooms.

The second one planted wasn't as sturdy.  The roots were falling, and I'm wondering if it will make it.  But I dug deep, filled each one with Compost, gave them a little love, and we'll see what happens.

May is a grand month for me because it's Mother's Day and my birthday month.  The girls sent me lots of goodies, and everything fit just right.....socks, underwear,  dish towels, candles, Skechers.  With one of the purchases at Victoria Secret, they sent Jess a pink rose, which she slipped inside the package to me.

Nel found a blouse with red and pink roses on it, which I loved.

A Quail and a Robin visited me on my birthday, and I got a picture of the Quail, well the back of it.  ; )

I mentioned to my neighbor that it was my birthday, and the next day she brought over a mini homemade carrot cake.  Oh, it was so moist and delicious.  And she put a generous amount of frosting on it too.  ; )

The girls bought me a red rose plant.

Nel showed me the miniature Singer sewing machine that Brian gave her.  It belonged to his grandma, and he passed it on to Nel.

I thought this was the cutest thing.  Nel made it for Jess for Mother's Day.  It's a Mama Pamper Kit, and she used pastel silk flowers to cover the jar.

A handprint rose from Mia that I'll frame and keep forever.

Me and Jess have always liked miniature things.  They make us smile.  : )

I got two rose bushes for Mothers day, and I am not very good at gardening, so I do hope they make it. One is a mini bush and the other is a knock out rose bush. So we will see!

Now, I want carrot cake!!!

Happy Belated Birthday. I hope your roses take off. The Hubby brought me some from Texas A&M campus that were damaged to snow and received extreme wind burn on the way to our house, but I'm not giving up hope on my Aggie roses. I'm glad you and the girls are so close and keep up with face time. Living in the depths of nature & woods does something for the soul doesn't it!

I have that same mini singer sewing machine. It belonged to my grandma.

Mini roses are so cute. My dad planted 2 mini roses in our front yard and they have done very well and they remind me of my dad. Usually, the mini roses that have been grown indoor nurseries have a bit more problems, but the ones my dad planted - had been gifts to my mom and they didn't do well in the house so they have thrived outside. I figure they have been there now for at least 15 years and every year, even in the winter they bloom for me, and without much help from me. They just do their thing!

Yum, that carrot cake looks awesome. Nice neighbor! People are more friendly in the mountains, I have found. Oh and Happy belated birthday.

Good morning dear, dear Sheri!

I may have missed your birthday so forgive me; happy belated birthday dear Sheri! I know what you mean too, about special days like birthdays or Mother's Day, when nature seems to greet you with a special visit. The birds, a bunny or just the song of the wind in the trees give me a sense as if someone great is watching over us.

I hope your roses come to life for you. With the great care you give them, I'm pretty sure they will surprise you in due time with a beautiful, blush of a rose.

I love roses and have one in our back yard. It is yellow and smells so wonderful. My Mother had a green thumb and I am a hit and miss gardener. Happy Birthday. May is our month too, with my birthday on the 29 and the twin grandkids on the 10th.

Sheri happy belated birthday. It looks like you celebrated well. Such wonderful presents. I too love mini things and that includes miniature Rose's. When my mom passed away one of my sweet Amish neighbors gave me pink one. I have planted it outdoors and nursing it along too. Hoping it survives the dry weather we are having. Take care and have a blessed weekend. Hugs!

Happy belated birthday! I hope the rose bush does well for you. I have a mini rosebush planted in my flowerbed. I picked it up from death row at Lowe's for a few dollars and it is doing really well.

I hope your miniature roses will boom soon and grow into healthy plants. So far I have killed every miniature rose I ever had and don't bother with them anymore. In your last post I really like the pictures of the bald eagle and the osprey. Yes, fire season is upron us and this year is said to be even worse because of the drought.

I love miniatures too and wow! a box of tea. Sweet!
Love that you are planting roses. They are so special in the garden. Do deer come to your garden? I hope not because they do love munching on roses. I have a friend that had to build a high fence around her roses. Love your flowered top. What a sweet gift. And the hand rose is a real keeper. I would frame that and hang it on my wall for sure. What a kind neighbor to bake you a cake. I love, love California quail sighting even from behind, ha!

I Sheri. I hope your birthday was as beautiful as you are. Love your posts. I believe the rose bushes will grow and flourish and bring great beauty to your new home. Thank you kindly for all your visits and comments, too. Hugs, hugs, and more hugs. Susan

Oh I love red roses too,
though I never get to plant any,
I receive a bouquet of them every Valentine's Day and sometimes on Mother's Day.
Sheri I can't wait to see the blooms on your roses.
You really seem to have a green thumb for red roses.
Hmmm, that carrot cake seems so yum especially with frostings on it.
Have a great weekend ♥
