Almost every week when I go over Nel's house to watch Mia, I smell the aroma of bread baking in the oven. Renecke has been making homemade bread for a few years now, and he has mastered the art of bread making. I have always been fascinated with this, as it is a long process and takes a lot of time to prepare. He gets his recipes from a book, and makes different kinds of breads such as traditional, sourdough, but today it was a Polish bread. Nel always sends me home with half a loaf of bread, and I happened to take a picture before enjoying it.
Sometimes she puts butter on it and drizzles it with a bit of honey.
Oh, it tastes amazing.
Even Mia likes it.
The best things are nearest: breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of God just before you. Then, do not grasp at the stars, but do life's plain common work as it comes certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things of life. ~Robert Louis Stevenson.
I think it's wonderful that Renecke makes homemade bread for his family. It is a gift of his hands, his skill, and his love. He said that he might give a loaf of bread to everyone as Christmas gifts this year. That would be so special.
Are you enjoying these Fall days?

Oh how I love those flowers! That bread looks absolutely delish with a little melted butter. Mia is adorable as usual. I love that quote,

How true and I am going to write that down.
Love, Sandie
Looks yummy!Love your beautiful Fall pics and that adorable girl!Precious quote, really true...Hugs,dear Sheri.
The bread looks so delicious and nothing says love like fresh baked bread! Love all of your beautiful photos. Have a great week :)
That Polish bread sure looks delicious - I know I would enjoy it too. Little Mia is gorgeous, what a precious child. I love the orange flowers of Fall, and here in Australia it is Springtime and lots of pretty flowers too. xx
I think that quote from Stevenson is brilliant. That description is the crossroads where faith and living meet. We need to reach for the stars but we need to come back to earth to shine their light. Giving from the simplest and most accessible of all gifts is how we love.
I am enjoying these fall days dearest Sheri.
That bread looks yummy. As the days get cooler, I love to bake casseroles, chicken pot pies, and sweets. There is something about aromas from the oven that lead me tot he kitchen too frequently.
Hello my dear Sheri. That was a lovely post. I could almost taste that bread with butter. mmm mmmm mmmm Renecke is a very different name. I assume he is your son-in-law? Is he from a different country? He is a wonderful bread-maker! Your flower photos are precious, especially the last little flower! Hope you have a blessed week. Hugs. Susan
Homemade bread is good. A special looking flower in the last picture.
Sweet picture of your little love! That quote of Robert Louis Stevenson is one of my favorites. Total truth in those words! I am not a bread-maker, but I do love homemade bread. I think a loaf for Christmas would be a wonderful gift!
That bread looks delicious!!! I use a bread machine, and plan to start using it more.
Love the flower colors, beautiful!
Have a great week ~ FlowerLady
Hi Sheri,
Oh, I love homemade bread. What a wonderful treat indeed.
I like the idea of homemade bread as a gift too.
Carla
Okay, now I am hungery, I used to break bread every other day because it didn't last!
As far as fall I am still trying to make peace with it.
Ooh bread.. it's one of my favorite things. Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. I buy it from the bakery as a rare treat.. we indulge on it during breakfast.. the boys like it as well. We slather it with butter and sprinkle on some sugar.. mm..
Can't even imagine the joy of homemade bread..
My dad started to bake bread during the pandemic. Unfortunately there are too many countries between us to be able to share.
Ahh, homemade bread is just one of the best treats! How wonderful your son-in-law makes bread. It is an art for sure. I used to make all of our bread and it really spoils you if you have to buy it. That's great you get to share this special treat with your family. I think a homemade loaf of bread is a wonderful gift!
What a lovely blessing to share the love of breadmaking with others! It is such a cozy and delicious gesture! Lovely photos, my friend. : )
Ah Sheri just seeing those slices of bread had my brain smelling the fragrant aroma of baking bread. Your fall photos are so lovely and Mis couldn't be any cuter. She makes me smile and I am sure her grandma does the same.:)! Bugs
Oh I just love the smell of fresh baked bread. This looks soooooo good. This week we are having Indian summer and I am loving the sunshine as I walk. Bread gifts for Christmas would be special.
The flowers are gorgeous. And as for the bread, well, I know what a treat that is and you are lucky to have a baker in the family. I love his idea of giving away a loaf for Christmas. Rick loves to give bread -- and everyone loves to get it!

I love to bake bread but it isn't something I do very often. Fresh baked bread on a cold morning with a hot cup of coffee is so good!
I do like that quote, and how true it is.
