A Tune I Will Always Remember

Is it that time already - school is starting?

I remember every year when I was growing up my dad would say "wake up, Sheri," and sing this little tune on the first day of school...

school days, school days
dear old golden rule days

It used to bug me because he sang it over and over, and I wanted to bury myself under the covers and sleep a little longer.  Now, I wish I could hear his voice again singing this special song I heard for so many years.

Thought I'd share with you my favorite school pictures of me, Jess, and Nel.  This picture of Nel always warms my heart.

Sweet little Jess.  She loved polka dots.

And me.  ok, can my bangs get any more crooked?  Still, it is my favorite picture when I was in kindergarten.

Oh, a leaf just flew in my car, reminding me that Autumn is on its way.

I have good memories
of my school days.
How about you?

He Is......

They say that you'd better have plenty of girlfriends because husbands just don't understand.  He understands, and he is my girlfriend.

 Rene' Gruau

He gets it.  I can tell him anything..... and I have.  ;~)

 Rene' Gruau

Don't get me wrong, there are times when he frustrates me to no end, but he is always there; protecting, working, and giving.

We have been through challenging times together, but somehow we manage to end up, his hand in mine.

Oh, he has made me laugh.

Oh, he has made me cry.

34 years today,
and
he is my world.

A Poem

This is a poem that I came across many years ago, and it's always been a favorite of mine.  It's just one verse from the poem, and it's written by William A. Baxter.

Life's Values

When we look at the mountains or look at the sod,
Oh, how can we help but give credit to God?
The tints of the rainbow, the light on the cloud,
Oh, how can the spirit of mortal be proud?
The song of the bird is as God's voice telling me
To be kind to all men and to deal honestly,
And walk with the traveler on life's rugged road
To cheer him, and help him in lightening his load.
It may be this journey will be his last mile;
Oh, these are the values we'll prize afterwhile.

Have a peaceful day.

I've Been Tagged

Lynne, from Dreams On 34th Street, tagged me for... The Touring Through Blog Land Tour.  I have known Lynne since the beginning of our time blogging, which is about three years.  She is a spirited woman who devotes much of her time to her family, a great gal with a sense of humor, and one of my favorite people here in blog land.

So, on with the questions that are asked from the tour:

1.  What am I working on right now?
Right now, I am working on something exciting,
but I will tell you all about it later.  When the
time is right, you'll be the first to know.

2.  How does my work differ from others in this
     genre?
I am more interested in the photography side of
blogging.  I enjoy using my pictures to tell a
story, and I am always working on improving my
     photos.

3.  Why do I write/create what I do?
Nel, Jess, and I have created our rosy blog
space to share our interests and ideas,
communicate with other bloggers, and hopefully
inspire others.  I cherish the relationships I have
     made through blogging.

4.  How does your writing/creating process work?
I have actually started to write short stories for
my children about me growing up, so they will
know a little bit more about their mom and what
she was like as a young girl and some of her
experiences.  I often try to put a splash of humor
in the stories because I think that laughter is
something that we all need and long for.

Thank you, Lynne, for including me in The Touring Through Blog Land Tour.  It's been pretty hot here in California, so I think I'll just sit back now and visit you all.

Magic Tree

I was taking a stroll through my favorite park, looking for bunnies, (can you find him??)

when I came across this fascinating tree.

Sure it looks like an average tree from afar, but when I came close and examined the falling leaves, I noticed how unique it was.

When hanging onto the tree, the leaves were dark green on one side and light green on the other.

But the leaves that have drifted away and settled on the grass were bright white on one side. This side was so soft to the touch- almost like velvet.

Such beautiful, small details in life when we take the time to notice, right?

P.S. Thank you for the many congratulations!!

Jess Is A Master

Jess got her Master Degree!  She officially finished her course work, and received her Master of Arts in Teaching.

The ceremony was in So. California,

and guess who the commencement speaker was.....the President!  He was an eloquent speaker.

As I was there watching all the graduates getting their various degrees, a part of me wanted to run down from the stadium and hug my girl.  But where are you, Jess?

It is such an accomplishment, and I want to express my feelings to Jess and tell her how very pleased I am with her, and thank her for all her hard work.

Yaaaay, Jess is now a Master!
