I remember every year when I was growing up my dad would say "wake up, Sheri," and sing this little tune on the first day of school...
school days, school days
dear old golden rule days
It used to bug me because he sang it over and over, and I wanted to bury myself under the covers and sleep a little longer. Now, I wish I could hear his voice again singing this special song I heard for so many years.
Thought I'd share with you my favorite school pictures of me, Jess, and Nel. This picture of Nel always warms my heart.
Sweet little Jess. She loved polka dots.
And me. ok, can my bangs get any more crooked? Still, it is my favorite picture when I was in kindergarten.
Oh, a leaf just flew in my car, reminding me that Autumn is on its way.
I have good memories
of my school days.
How about you?

Sheri , Some school memories are better than others. But I always loved that smell, papers, crayons, pencils, chalk....it's like a combination of everything to create that smell. Your picture are so cute. Your father is so handsome. I miss my daddy too. xoxo,Susie

Love this...back to schol is bittersweet for me....ready for routine and all but not ready either! :)
Oh Val, that's not me with my dad. It is him holding one of his nieces. :~)
Lovely memories - cute photos, too. I still remember the thrill of new school supplies and seeing my school friends once again. Is summer already over? It goes by so fast! xo Karen
♥...love your post!♥ Happy weekend, my friend! xxx Riitta
Love the school pictures. You all look adorable. I think we all had bangs like that.

What sweet school pictures! It is that time of year and I'm wondering where the summer went. It already feels like autumn here and I even had to wear my mittens when I went on a hike this morning.
My dear friend,
I am very behind in my blog visits because my home internet service is not working; I am at a coffee shop using their internet service!
WELL, school starts for me on Monday. I still have some writing to do to finish my syllabus for one class, but I do have another course done.
I have fond memories as I too look at photos of myself and YES, I too had crooked bangs (and still do!!!!) but my fondest memories are of my mother sewing me a plaid "jumper" or skirt. Those were the days. MUCH LOVE
Isn't it lovely to look back at old photos? You all look do cute. I have happy memories of my school days and I regularly meet a group of school friends. I'm so glad we stayed in touch.
Oh Sheri, that black and white picture of you as a little girl is just precious! All of you look adorable :)
Much love to you!
Oh Sherri - your post brought back so many forgotten memories that were stored in my mind. i think when we get older we have the time to remember more. i have such fond memories of my school years and that of my son - how I hated that he left to go to school each day LOL.
Shaun, said mom "Kelly is into curling her hair and putting on mascara OMG." I said just Honey, it doesn't get any better. He is divorced and gets her every other week and most of the time more than that, which he loves. Kelly will be 12 the first of Oct. She is growing up so quickly.
Enjoy your week Sherri.

Super beautiful. I definitely have some good memories too I just love looking at old photos, it has always been one of my favourite things to do.
I loved the anticipation of school more than actually going! Or maybe it was the shopping prior to, where I would get 1 week of new school clothes from the Bon Marche-I think this store is long, but what a sweet memory it still is!
Love your photos, Sheri-you all are such sweet girls.

Dear Sheri,
Such a lovely post of your thoughts on your school days. Loved all the photos. I too enjoyed school and have happy memories of my school days, even though it seemed such a long time ago.
Hope you have a happy week
hugs
Carolyn
Sheri, I see the Jasmine in your photo as well.. Aren't they quite wonderful! I will always associate its smell with my mother's garden.
I have some excellent memories of my schooling days, possibly one which included reading Malory Towers and Enid Blyton series. Love your photos! Happy to see the polka dots. X
Hi Sherri,
Your bangs reminded me of mine! It seemed my bangs were always uneven. My mom would always cut my bangs and I guess she either got carried away with the scissors or kept trying to even out my bangs but in any event they were always way up on my forehead. LOL
I loved the first day of school. I couldn't wait to wear one of my new dresses and my new shoes. (We had to wear dresses back then) I loved the smell of new pencils and construction paper. The first day of school makes me feel a bit melancholy.
The photos of you and your girls are adorable. So sweet! Does it make you sad to look at old photos of the kids? It does me. :-) Time passes so quickly.
SWEET, SWEET, POST! I love the photos of you and your Dad and your girls and all of the memories. I know you cherish them. Hard to believe summer went by so fast, huh?
Love to you,
Heidi
LOVE the picture of you and your dad. Picture days were always fun. Anything to get away from class for a bit. ;)
I don't have too many good memories of school, too much of a free spirit for traditional education. Also because I had to leave my native country to start second grade in the US, learn a new language, get used to mom working outside the home, and no longer living with my grandparents, aunt, uncle, and cousins under the same roof. That was pretty scary for an only child, and I didn't realize it then but it affected me throughout high school.
The day I graduated from college all I could think of was FREEDOM. teehee
Love your thought provoking questions, Sheri.
xoxo
