My Special Day At The Waterfalls

I had the most wonderful birthday last week.  It was a big year, so I wanted it to be special.  I first got a call from Nel and Jess and the grandkids wishing me a sweet day (I already celebrated my birthday with them last month).  I went outside to get the mail that morning, and was surprised to find a package from Jess.  She sent me so many goodies, and I had already opened Nel's gifts earlier.  I loved the pretty cards they gave me.

Then, I got a birthday e-mail from an old high school friend.  It was sweet of him to remember.  And I opened up my blog e-mail only to find that my dear blog friend sent me birthday greetings too!  We go way back, since our first years of blogging.

Then, I got a birthday e-mail from my brother.  He sent me a couple pics from back in the day.  In the snow pic, I'm the little one on the ground with my sister, and my brothers are up in the tree.

I spent the day at the waterfalls with my son (which I'll share later).  I've only been to the Falls in the Summertime.  The weather was just right, and it's beautiful in the Spring.  They have a delightful shop there, so we went inside and looked around - they sell souvenirs, sweatshirts, and snacks.  After, we ate lunch on the picnic tables outside - smoked turkey, havarti cheese, artichoke pasta salad from the deli.

When we got home, I noticed my sister had called, which made me glad.  I also received a birthday e-mail from my best friend,

and one from my other dearest friend.  She sent me this picture of the three of us.

I wanted to share the gifts that Jess gave me.  I love this frame with the kids' picture in it.  The frame is white marble and is heavy.  She got it from World Market, if you are interested.

Drawings from Francesca and Mia, which always go up on the fridge.  Mia's will be here shortly.

Celebrations are not the same without Jess' gift of See's candy.  Her and Brian always get me a box of chocolates, and it is truly one of my favorite things of all.

Coffee and cafe au lait truffle is a double treat.

I got very emotional when I opened up this grandmother's journal.  I can't wait to write in it.

And lastly, I came across this while out shopping, and just had to get it.  Sometimes we need to treat ourselves, especially when it is calling our name.

To end the special day, I had a combination Pizza, and choclate cake for dessert. 🎂

Belated and heartfelt best wishes for your birthday. May the new year hold many happy moments for you.
The waterfall is breathtakingly beautiful. The candies from See's look delicious, and the Morning Rose candle has the perfect name.
I love the last quote and the photo of you.

Happy New Week, Sheri

Happy Birthday dear friend.
I love all that you shared here.
I gave my grandparents a similar journal. They are true treasures to me to have now. I was so thankful they completed the journal.
I have never had See's candy. ;-)

Happy Birthday! 🎈
The falls were closed last year and it’s good they are open. My husband and I wanted to go up to see them this summer. Theodore Roosevelt famously described these Falls as "the eighth wonder of the world".

You could not have had a better birthday, I think! Wonderful surprises, a day out, special mail, lovely gifts and a present for yourself, too! I'd say that was one to remember. Happy Birthday (again) from me!

Happy late birthday too.
Love this quote, "Those who love deeply never grow old; they may die of old age, but they die young."
Looks like you have lots of family and friends who loved you and wished you Happy Birthday!
So, in the picture of the three women - which one was you?
I love SEES Candy!
Did the candle call you because of the name Rose?
So sweet your girls always remember you with such nice things. I did get and filled out - my grandmother's journey.
All the girls at the bottom were so pretty.
Going to the waterfall with you son seemed fun too and then to have a picnic with a deli sandwich was perfect.
And lastly your cup of coffee looked delish!

A happy belated big-year birthday Sheri. I had so much fun reading your post, looking at all your photos, hearing from everyone and seeing your birthday cards and gifts. I will be looking forward to your blog post with your son at the waterfalls. The photos of your granddaughters in the marble frame and drawings to go up on the fridge, perfects gifts! See’s candy is the icing on the cake so to speak, as is the coffee in a pretty cup to go with it :) I can see why you got emotional at A Grandmother’s Life to write in. A great photo and quotes to end your post with too. Thank you for sharing the joy my friend!

Oh Sheri - sending you belated birthday blessings. You are so loved...what a wonderful family you have and by all means work on that journal. You will most likely never know in this life how much that will be valued in your granddaughter's lives. It is a legacy that will certainly live on. So glad you shared your old photos...were they not the days? Memories that they bring is such a wonderful gift. Sending you a big hug!
