Just Some Things In April

Good Morning!

Spring is starting to show its face here, and the first sign that the season is alive are the pink blossom trees in town and on the edge of the highway standing alongside the pine trees when I drive down the mountain road. These trees are on main street, and are a much lighter color than the ones on the highway.

I washed down the front porch area and soaked the plants.  There was a lot of debris and leaves piling up, and I need to get a landscaper out here soon to cut the lawn; it's growing rapidly.  Everything will start to bloom soon.  And speaking of blooming, isn't this the prettiest flower bed at my church?

My son made a rack of barbecue ribs, and they were so tender that the meat just fell off the bone.

For you, Pope Francis.  Thank you for being a good and true leader of the Church, filled with faithfulness, compassion, humanity, love, and genuine concern for the world.

I wanted to show you the cake Nel made for her 13 year-old niece.  She asked for a garden theme, and Nel surely delivered. 🎂

Nel sent me this picture recently.  She saw a hummingbird flittering around one morning when she took the dog out to go to the bathroom.  They were standing under a pine tree, and all of a sudden he looked up sharply, which made her look up, and this little hummer popped off one of the branches and started dancing around the tree.  It was very magical, and she thought it was a sign to wish me a happy Sunday.

Homemade Chili and spicy ranch pretzels.  So good.

I went to see my friend, A, at the home shop.  I love browsing through her shop, and she mentioned that she has some new Spring items in.  We talked for a long time, and when I left and got in my car, I realized we had been talking for an hour and a half!  She told me she's remodeling the place, and it will look a bit different and updated soon.  I bought a little angel that I've always admired in the shop.  This angel is unique, as she sits lying on her back with her leg up in the air.  She's symbolic for me, as I have been knocked down many times in this lifetime, but the Lord always picks me up again.

Remember the flowers that Mia gave me at the fundraiser dinner?

They are very special to me, and I want to keep them forever.  As they are drying, I thought I'd wrap a bow around them, so A. gave me some sparkly ribbon that she thought would go nicely.

Jess set up a Barbie camp-out for the girls!  It's delightful, and Oh, how it brings back memories of my Barbie days as a child.

A nest was built near my porch area right around the light fixture outside.  I don't know what kind of bird it is, but I saw one fly away when I opened the screen door.  I have not seen the mama come around at all.

April offered many good things.....I hope May does the same.

Morning Sheri. such a cute set up that Jess made for the Barbie Camp. Lots of cute things on this post beginning with your header photo. Love the rose laying on the wooden fence. And then...those ribs!! One of my favorite meals is ribs and pot salad. Your son did a great job with these and they should be posted in a food magazine. Your flowers all around are showing out...so very pretty. The CAKE!! It looks great and perfect for a garden themed cake. All around Sheri...a beautiful post.

Oh I just love that little angel - 😇 serving as your reminder the many times the Lord has picked you up. I love that! It’s meaningful to surround ourselves with those kind of reminders that lifts our spirits and gives glory to the Lord. Our lives are a journey, aren’t they?

Hanging the flowers to save is precious. Remember back in the day, we used to sandwich flowers between wax paper and put them in a book? I still have some of these flowers.
This week is going to be beautiful. 80+ down here but nice where you are. My sons are backpacking in the Lost Coast and the weather was dreary the first couple of days but the rest of the week should be perfect for them.
Celebrate and enjoy Spring, Sheri. 🥀

Coffee and chocolate are cousins. Their molecular structure are almost the same, except for one branch of C or H. they belong together.

I agree about coffee and chocolate. I only have one cup a day - but it is one of the first things I do during the day.
Spring is coming to you - I love the pink trees - they have already bloomed here and gone.
Time for landscaping and making the yard fresh. How many times do you have to get it mowed?
I love the flower bed at your church.
The Barbie camp is so cute. I played with Barbies - wish I had kept them - gave them to a little girl I babysat for.
Those ribs looked delicious.
Was that picture of the hummingbird real?
That cake Nel made was fantastic. She could go into business. Those roses were gorgeous on it.
The chili looked good - I need to make some.
Lastly - I love your angel - yes fallen and risen for sure.
Love, sandie

Hi Sheri, I am hoping all is well with you. Here we are, in May. Yr is really moving right along. We have done the spring thing as far as all the blooming of flowering trees and bushes. I went out to the deck the other day and had to wipe away the YELLOW crap. Just finishing up with planting flowers and seeds, to see what appears

So nice to see the spring flowers and trees blooming so pretty along the road and your church garden. Doesn't it just make you so happy this time of year? I love that your son cooks for you and he is quite an accomplished chef! And that cake - my goodness - a lovely little work of art. It would be so hard to cut that first slice, but I'll bet it was delicious.
The Barbie camp-out is so cute and your sweet cherub angel from the shop is such a nice keepsake. And I hope your wish comes true, although that much chocolate might not be so good for you! Lol! Sending hugs xo K
Can you
