A Very Hot Day In The City

I had a wonderful time when Jess visited recently.  One of those days we drove to the city and spent the day there.  When I was growing up, this town was a small country town, with not many attractions, but now it's a big city with a mall, restaurants, and shops of every kind.  The streets are getting so crowded, and with the temps being in the 100's, it made it very uncomfortable.  I also drove to the city last week with my son, so I will combine both of these days on this post today.  We first stopped at our favorite cafe' and had something to eat.  Then, we walked along main street and went inside a few shops.  We drove to the other side of town, and went to all my favorite shops, World Market, Barnes & Noble, and others.  Jess and Nel have always loved the bookstores, and I appreciate the cafes within the bookstores.  The Barnes & Noble cafe' had a cozy vibe, and we sat for awhile to get out of the heat - it was 97 degrees that day.  Uncle b. bought Francesca a specialty milkshake - Vanilla Bean Frappuccino.  When me and my son drove to the city last week, it was very hot, 115 degrees...not pleasant weather at all.  I browsed through an eclectic shop and then we went to Target, where I found some soft furry slippers in a blush color.  They will be nice this winter.  Here's a few photos from our fun day spent in the city.

Let the world busy themselves with events and celebrations.  I'm quite content having the pure innocence of a baby nestled in my arms.

Those are some very warm temps. This looks like a nice town and such a sweet place to eat, out on the sidewalk. yum... that shake that Francesca had sure looks good.. Don't you love finding something that you know you will enjoy, like the slippers? They look comfy. I'm with you...I could spend hours in Barns and Noble and its free air conditioning.....well, kinda free!!! Y'all may have to have a redo in town when the temps cool down.

Dearest Sheri,
You certainly enjoyed having Jess and kids over—you look so happy in the final image.
Temperature is one thing but more important is how high or low the humidity was.
We had 40% humidity today and 97°F that is not bad.
Hugs,
Mariette

Hello - good to see you here! I love your header. I had no idea it got that hot there where you are. So going twice to the city that is a lot for you.
Francesca looks happy with the vanilla bean Frappuccino. Did you buy any books? I like your pink fuzzy shoes. So I totally understand what you mean by letting the world go on and holding that sweet baby girl - that is what is important.

Hi Sheri,
It is miserable here. Supposedly next week is going to be cooler. I haven't gone anywhere this week. I am glad you got to go to the city and have a fun day!

You laugh so carefree and look happy, great!
The slippers will be comfortable in winter.
The planting in the flower pot is particularly beautiful.

Have a nice evening

Charlotte is a little doll baby. You look beautiful holding her, Sheri! Your heat is quite oppressive. Ours has been very hot and humid! I'm not a big fan of having to stay indoors, but AC is imperative. I know what you mean about a town growing. Ours has changed so much since we've lived here. Stay cool, my friend!

Looks like you had some fun outings even in the unbearable heat! You get it hot like we do here in Texas. Being with loved ones always brings joy. Keep cool 😎

This looks like such a fun time. I hear you on small towns getting too big. The town by my cottage is the same -- it used to just be small and that's fine. Now it has too many people, too many big-box stores and downtown isn't what it used to be.

But what a grand time you had! Francesca is getting so big!

In two days our temperature will reach 100 degrees F., but I believe yours has even exceeded that. There is nothing sweeter or lovelier than family time, as these photos attest to. Darling scenes Sheri. Looks like you had a busy and very enjoyable time. I certainly enjoyed reading all about it and thank you so much for sharing. Content you are indeed, what better celebration to have than little Charlotte in your arms, and Francesca I am sure is a most wonderful big sister. She is adorable drinking her shake, a beautiful young lady. Take good care of yourself my friend and wishing you the happiest weeks and hope you stay cool.

Sounds like a great day despite the scorching heat. Visiting favorite spots like the Barnes & Noble cafe is such a cozy retreat from the sun. Your slippers look like a perfect find for the upcoming winter.

Thank you for your prayers. Please continue praying for me. Hopefully, my selfish neighbors will move away soon.

Hugs and blessings,
Sheri 🌹

Precious times with your babies! I don't care to leave my home much these days as the beauty I enjoy here can't compare to anything a city offers - but those visits at times are precious like yours with your kids! The heat sounds awful! Love love bookstore too! Could spend hours browsing!! Loved all your pictures and the smile on your face tells it all! Blessings to you dear friend!

I am with you on being content with a grandchild in my arms...there just is not anything better, except maybe when our daughters were babies. And it wasn't better, just maybe as good.
