Get To Know Your Blog Friends

This will be a short post today, as I am getting ready to go see my babies.

Every now and then, I will do a post called Get to know your blog friends.  I will include some things about myself that you may or may not know, especially my new friends who I have enjoyed getting to know.  So, here they are.

*I have a thing for OREO'S, and if I ever see them at the store, I will probably pick some up.  Don't really care for the thin Oreos or the double stuff Oreos, but the original ones I LOVE.

*I don't like group e-mails (for many reasons).  Sometimes people in the group e-mails may not understand what is being said, and the context gets all mixed up.  Also, the sender shouldn't send personal stuff about one to all.  It's funny, cause after I wrote this, I sent a group e-mail to a few blog friends, and I didn't see the responses of some til later, as they were scattered in the middle of them all.  Just a couple reasons why I don't like group e-mails.

*I love loyalty.  Have you noticed there are people who are neither here nor there?  I appreciate those who know where they stand and follow through.

*I don't like sandy beaches; never really have.  The thought of sand between the toes and sprinkled over a sweaty body doesn't appeal to me.

*In high school, I took a typewriting class, and at the end of the semester, I could type 65 wpm.

*I was the youngest child.....and as the saying goes, the youngest child is the most spoiled.  That was farthest from the truth with me, and didn't have many toys or clothes growing up.  And when it was time to get my first car, I bought it myself.  My parents instilled in me this valuable lesson, and it made me appreciate the things that did come my way.

*When I was in first grade, I was put in a first/second grade class.  It was called a 'Split Class.'

*My birthstone is Emerald, and whenever I see anything with the color of Emerald, I am drawn to it.

*I delivered my three babies without pain medication.  After Jess was born, who was almost 9 lbs., I said that I never wanted to do that again.  A few years later, her brother was born.  ; )

*When I was a teenager, I used to walk to church, which was about a mile from my house.  When my dad was outside doing the yard work, he would always shout something to me and smile as I walked away.

*I've never been star-struck with celebrities.  And I've never been impressed with wealth or fancy cars or grand houses or fine jewelry.  What does impress me is someone with great character, and that only has humility to offer.

*I have what I call a gift of dreams.  During a devastating time in my life, I had a dream one night, and my mom was present in the dream.  I literally felt a warm feeling come over me and a gentle hug.  Another time, I had a dream about my son, and he loudly shouted "mom!" and I suddenly woke.  In the middle of the night, I got a call from him - he was in the hospital and told me he just got into a car accident.  That's just one of the many dreams I've had, and why I call them a gift.

Well, there ya go.

Oh, there's one more.....

*I love you.

But you already know that.

Dearest Sheri,
No group emails for me either.
Loyalty is a big word in my life!
Sandy beaches have never attracted me. Did love to walk alongside the beach in Jesolo, next to Venice in Italy. With the feet in the water and till the lighthouse and back.
The same Pieter and I loved to do at St. Martin in the Caribbean.
But for swimming I prefer a pool!
Did take a Swiss ten finger system blind typing course and secretary training.
Not the youngest but the 2nd born out of eight. Those were very tough post WWII times.
I've been in a Split Class for 4 years!
Don't even know my birth stone...
Not having had the blessing of getting pregnant.
Walked to school and to Mass before school till I was in 5th grade.
Celebrities are the most shallow and fake people one can think of—with a few exceptions!
Yes, character and high moral values are a lot more important to seek out!
Just like you, I can sense such special events and if someone is going to die or something serious is about to happen—ESP or extrasensory perception.
Hugs,
Mariette

Oh goodness....we have so much in common. I do not enjoy having sand on my feet. When we go to the beach, my family hangs out at the beach and I hang out at the pool. Not big on group emails...I agree with you. Not only do people get things mixed up, but you never know how they are going to take a simple comment...as an opinion or being critical..this is what social media of any kind does these days..People can not read another persons attitude by typing in words. I am excited for you to go for a visit with your family.. I am keeping you all in my prayers concerning the fires. I think it is neat to learn more about our blogging friends...I enjoyed this sheri. Happy Monday...and thank you for the Love.

Wow we have a lot in common!

I too love the original Oreos! I don’t buy them that much because I can eat the whole bag within a couple of days! Love them.
Loyalty and honesty is very important. My first husband was both a liar and not loyal. It was hard for me to trust again.
I grew up 2 miles from the beach. I know about sand - I don’t like sand in my shoes or feet. The sand dries out my feet.
I don’t like group emails and texts!
I also took a typing class and did very well.
I was a first born.
I was in a 5/6 in the 6th grade.
I too, gave birth to 3 babies without medication. I also had very fast labors. My first labor was 2 hours! The other two were a little longer.
As a teenager I was star struck! I wanted to be an actress and dreamt about going to Hollywood and acting. Thank God once I graduated HS I outgrew that silly notion. Now I can’t even name or recognize the new stars - I’m just not interested.
I don’t have that gift. My sister did. She knew our grandfather died before we were notified. I do have the gift of discernment.

Well that was fun! Have fun with all your babies!

I loved reading your post and getting to know you better! Original OREOs are a classic favorite of mine too. I completely get your feelings about group emails and sandy beaches – both can be quite frustrating!

Your gift of dreams is special and touching. It's wonderful to hear how much loyalty and character mean to you. Thanks for sharing these personal insights.

Enjoy your time with your babies, Sheri! 🌹

Well, this is a lovely surprise! How great to get to know more about a dear friend! Oreos. They are a part of my life! I am a sucker for the holiday ones. And while I enjoy sitting with my feet in the sand, I am not a dig in it, walk in it, or lay in it. No, thank you very much! Have a wonderful time with your babies!!!

It is nice to get to know our fellow bloggers! Thanks for sharing this lovely post and enjoy the babies! BTW I love Oreos too but wouldn't dare buy them because I eat the entire package in one sitting.

You dream gift is amazing, I believe it to be God-given. I had to walk to school every day, and it was a very long walk! But not in the snow or barefoot!! I agree with you about being starstruck! I don't like sandy beaches either. The photo of the girls is perfect and so beautiful!!

I love this Sheri! I'm not a fan of group texts or emails either lol. My mom had me naturally, but whenever I have kids I think I want medication since I have a low pain tolerance. Love the photo of the girls!

I love those 3 little girls there - they are all so sweet and lovely - you are a lucky grandma.
We have a ton of things in common and some differences.
I like Oreos - did you know they have Star War Oreo's out now?
I think group emails have to be sent out once in awhile - but I don't do them regularly.
LOYALTY IS CRITICAL.
Same for me in typing class. They no longer have.
I believe my birth stone is an opal.
How sweet you walked to church alone. You were devoted.
Celebrities - I do kind of like to read about them - especially the older ones. That is something my mom and I did together - brought a lot of memories and good times.
HAVE A GREAT AND SAFE TRIP!
Sandie

Hi Sheri,
Fun facts to learn about you!
Here is some about me.
I love the beach and sand between my toes etc. I never go though. Last time was over 20 years ago.

I am not a fan of oreos. I will eat them, but I like chocolate chip cookies better!

I had two babies both 7lbs 10oz without pain meds. Son was born with forceps and it was not a pleasant experience, but had another baby two years later!

Garnet is my birthstone. I am not a fan of red stones. I love green birth stones. my Dad was Emerald and my Mom was Peridot.

I also took typing in high school. Also sewing!

I walked to school and or rode my bike.

I am the youngest child. Not spoiled unless you ask my older brother. My parents taught me to work hard for what I have. I always appreciate everything I get.

I am as loyal as a dog. I appreciate people who are also loyal.

I also have visions, feelings, dreams etc. It sometimes is annoying, but yes it is a gift. I have seen several spirits. I can feel them mostly, but have seen them too. Since I was a little girl. My daughter has the same gift.

I am a very shy person and prefer not to be in the spotlight at all.

Sheri - what wonderful sharing. After reading these special dreams, loving the old fashioned oreo cookies, bravely delivering your children without pain medication as well as all the other delightful things I know why you are such a special blogging friend. So glad I found you. Now go enjoy your time with your babies! Hugs!

Sweet post, Sheri. Oh, those "babies" are the pizazz. Can't wait to see what you do with them this week. As I thought many times, we are truly kindred spirits. Many of your philosophies in life mirror mine! Have a blessed, wonderful week! Hugs. Susan

Nice to learn so much about you. Oreo's are the best. When I was younger I'd dunk them in milk and now I like to slather them with peanut butter.

Now that was fun to read. I do remember you like Oreos, but I didn't remember your birth stone was emerald - must be May. My children are May babies and I love emeralds. Oreos are OK, but I would love the double filling. Ha!
Sending love back, Marilyn

Hello Sheri,
I loved this post. I am like you in many ways. I too am not star struck. We have an older car and enjoy simple things. In fact the new cars are too fancy for me. Ha ha... too many bells and whistles that I would never use.

I also think loyalty is very important.

Love You Sheri!!!

What a wonderful post, dear Sheri! I hope you are having a wonderful visit with your grandbabies! I loved learning more about you! I do love Oreos - especially eaten with a strawberry, oh so good! But in my health journey, no sugar, I can't eat them any longer. I love the beach - was born on an island, so maybe that explains it! There is just something about the waves and sand that speak to my heart! I too value honesty and integrity far about fame and riches! Nothing about Hollywood interests me, I seldom watch movies either. A wonderful post that I enjoyed very much.

You are dearly loved, sweet Sheri!

What a delightful post, Sheri, and a treat to know these things about you. Things in common and things different but that's what makes life good. I know you'll have a wonderful time with your girls and we'll look forward to a full report!

Love all these things about you...except the oreo's...LOL
I love the thin ones...lolol
I see and feel "spirit" all the time...and I use to get dimes from my Dad...but that stopped once I realized he was happy and safe in Heaven.
hugs

That was so fun to read some interesting things about YOU, Sheri. I didn’t have psin meds for my births, either, but did the Lamaze method. I hope you have a blessed week!

I loved reading these getting to know you things. I am the youngest of eight, and I sure did not have much and was not spoiled. The 3 siblings closest to me in age were brothers...so no spoiling. I only remember one of my sisters being still at home when I was little. I had a nephew one month older than me, but has passed away. I miss him....

I walked about a mile to school in grades 1st through 8th grade, and then that far to catch the bus to go to high school. And most of the way I walked on a railroad.

I have never really wanted to meet any celebrity, but I would have loved to have met Secretariat and Sea Biscuit. I used to love to watch the Kentucky Derby when they told all about the horses and their personalities and sometimes the way the owners came to own them. Now it is too much about what celebrities are there, and I almost don't even care if I watch.

I am not an ocean person, though I do like looking for seashells, etc. But I love the Great Lakes.

I started answering with my own at each thing you wrote about, but then realized it would have made a small book, so I'll just say it was so nice getting to know more of you, and we love you too :)
