Mia's Craft Project

I'm sure you heard about the storms that are happening here in California, north and south.  Rain, high winds, mudslides, and snow has made its way into our state.  My small heaters in the bedrooms stopped running, and have been trying to get a technician to come out and fix them.  It's been really cold the last few days.  Thankfully, the heater in the main part of the house is still running.  We really do appreciate the heat living up here.  We had lots of rain, but no flooding in the mountains where I live, and we also got some more snow!

Mia's latest craft project - it's a mouse!

Mia had her first library visit at school last week, and she checked out this sewing book.  She really wanted to make this mouse, so Nel went to Michael's to get the supplies they needed, and Mia actually helped to sew him!  It was a step by step project, so it was pretty easy and fun.  She wants Mia to learn how to sew, as it's such a great skill.  His name is Mr. Whiskers!

~All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth, my two front teeth, see my two front teeth~  Remember that song?  Francesca lost her two front teeth!

It's that time of year again - Girl Scout cookies!  My little neighbor was going around the neighborhood, and when she knocked on my door, I just had to buy a box.  And of course, the thin mints are my favorite.

It brought back memories of when I was in Blue Birds, and going around my neighborhood selling this or that.  Not everyone bought something, so I got so excited when they did!  And we always knew that neighbor that would take the time and buy something.  A young me at eight years old in my Blue Birds uniform.  I love the fact that my mom labeled everything on the back of pictures and such.  She was such a devoted mom.

I make a mean meatloaf.  And leftover meatloaf sandwiches are the best.

And some oatmeal with bananas, just cause it's cold out.

I came across this picture of my three valentines.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Oh, I had to throw in this picture of Charlotte.  Made me laugh.

Dearest Sheri,
Well, the weather is not yet 'nice' for you as well as for us.
Rain, thunder, high winds and flooding...
But it will stop one day.
Mia produced a perfect mouse—so very cute!
Sad that such skills are no longer being taught at school.
Mia is lucky though to have a Mom that helps her!
Francesca will have her new front teeth—we all went through that period...
Exceptional for your Mom labeling photos as that is the most important thing to do. Later we can't recall time and place...
Lovely photo of your three Valentines!
Stay cozy and hopefully warm.
Hugs,
Mariette

Thank you for the Girl Scout reminder
They have a website where you can find where they are setting up to sell.

Thin mints are my favorite as well. I put them in the refrigerator. They are so good that I can’t eat just one.
Charlotte made me laugh as well - what a huggable baby.
Mia did a good job on that mouse sewing project. Sewing is an excellent skill to have.
I have always enjoyed the toothless grins of children- Francesca looks adorable.
Just rain and wind down here in the valley. We’ve been enjoying some sunshine and mild temperatures but the rain isn’t done with us yet.
I hope you have a warmer week -

Aww those toothless pictures are so cute.
We might be getting some snow tomorrow.
Good to hear you were not affected by the flooding.
I have never ever eaten a meatloaf before.

Your post is loaded with beauty and love! I love that picture of you with your three children, Sheri! And you in your Blue Birds uniform--I don't think there were Blue Birds when I was a little girl, just Brownies and Girl Scouts. But every year during cookie time I remember the years I was a Brownie leader and selling those cookies with my daughter. I am sure Mia will grow up to be an accomplished seamstress! That mouse is charming but not as charming as his creator! And is there anything cuter than Francesca with her two front teeth out!

I'm sorry you've not been able to get someone out yet to fix those heaters. Thank goodness you do have one working but you probably are chilly in the house. That meatloaf looks delicious! Isn't it funny how we forget about a favorite food and then start craving it when we see it on a blog? I'm making a note to myself for meatloaf as it is one of RH's favorite meals.

Charlotte's picture looks as if she might be very happy about something!

Well Charlotte looks like the PERFECT baby. Beautiful and happy.
Wish you could get those heaters fixed soon.
Glad you got your blog to work. :)
The snow looks pretty and just enough! We are having torrential rain today. Glad it is not snow.
What a great mouse Mia and her mother made. That is awesome.
And Francesco with her two missing teeth - so cute.
Do you know the cost of the Girl Scout cookies went up to like $7 a box?
My favorite are the thin mints.
I don't remember Blue Birds.
Your photo of you and the kids is beautiful!
Meatloaf not a favorite of mine but my hubs loves it.
Love how you are ready for Valentine's Day - have a good one.

I've heard about the crazy weather Cali has had - so thankful you survived it all. I'm sorry about the heaters not working! The snow is beautiful, isn't it! All our snow melted, and then we got some this morning, but it won't last, it is melting now. Just enough to make slush on the roads. Sure is pretty though! Sweet Mia! She looks so happy to have made her mouse, that is wonderful that she is encouraged to do these kinds of projects at a young age - we did a lot of needlework and sewing growing up. It's good training! All your kids are precious, Happy Valentine's Day to you!

I need to make a nmeatloaf -- good winter food! I love thin mint -- even bought girl scout thin mint pretzels this year at Costco and they're beyond wonderful. I'm so glad you haven't had the rains -- I was wondering about you and if you got hit with them too. I'm late reading so hope that your heat is repaired by now!

Good morning Sheri. Such a cute post...your family is adorable and so is that mouse. She did a great job making it and it will be something she will remember forever. I admire her for wanting to do this. Love your pictures of the snow...and the white picket fence. made me smile as I love these kind of fences. The snow on it, just adds to my joy. And...when I was growing up, we had meatloaf sandwiches all the time. Can't beat one. Stay warm and hopefully the good ol' sun will bring you some heat soon.

Yes, I've heard about the storms affecting California, both in the northern and southern parts of the state. It sounds like the weather has been quite severe, with rain, high winds, mudslides, and snow causing disruptions and challenges for residents.

I'm sorry to hear that your small heaters in the bedrooms stopped running, especially during these cold days. It can be frustrating trying to get a technician out for repairs during such inclement weather. However, I'm glad to hear that the heater in the main part of your house is still operational, providing some relief from the cold temperatures.

I am inviting you to read my new blog post.

What cute grand daughters!
And I love seeing the picture of your young family too.
I started sewing small projects when I was Mia's age.
I absolutely love her mouse. Such a good skill to have.
It ended up leading to a career for me.

Love seeing the kids. Precious memories in the making and all of them are so cute.
I found a new meatloaf recipe that is pretty delicious. DO you have a secret ingredient? It is fun to see how others make their best meatloaf.
I hope you have a blessed & beautiful weekend. We woke up to light snow and chilly temps. sigh....it is winter though.
Take care and enjoy a beautiful weekend.
