Hello. I hope the new year has been good to you so far. I just got back from my trip to So Cal visiting with all the family, and I had a great time. The flight there was a nightmare, starting with awful weather driving to the airport. It started to rain, then there was a period of fog for about 20 minutes, then it rained hard, and I literally couldn't see the road in front of me. I don't know how my driver could see through all that fog and rain, but I got there safe. Then, my flight was delayed for about an hour because of the weather. Then, when I went to the restroom, the door from inside was stuck and wouldn't open - I tried to push, shove, and it just wouldn't budge. A lady said she'd get an airline attendant to help me. Now, do I want to stay there and wait for a busy flight attendant? I didn't want to miss the flight, so I crawled under the stall. Thankfully, it was high enough to do that haha. Time to board, and I got a middle seat, the worst seat of all, in my opinion, but so thankful it only takes about an hour to get there. But all ended well, and sometimes we have to go through some discomfort to get to where we want to be. And this hand towel in Jess' bathroom said it perfectly.
Seeing these smiling faces made my day!
I was there for almost two weeks! I spent half my time at Nel's and half my time at Jess', and I'll show you some of the moments next time.
Renecke and Nel picked me up from the airport, and Mia saw me right away, even though it was at night. The flight back wasn't bad at all, very kind people and staff the whole way (both airports). Jess stopped on the way to the airport at a popular cafe and bought me a ham and cheese croissant. My brother-in-law picked me up from the airport, and we drove through in-N-out and got some burgers. I was hungry at that point, and it was delicious. And I came home to snow! So pretty, but oh, so cold! Winter has started here in the mountains.
Until next time, love you.

Dearest Sheri,
That was indeed a very bad day for traveling on the road and in the air...
One can never predict.
Luckily you escaped that restroom booth by scooting under the door!
Lovely photos of happy kids and that blue bike reminds me of my new blue E-bike—that I one day wish to ride again.
Sunday my weight was almost 100 lbs again, up from 88 lbs.
Be careful with the snow!
Hugs,
Mariette
Glad you’re back! You’re right about the trip going down. Crazy you had to crawl under the stall door, but you do what you have to! 2 weeks is a nice visit with your family. I bet you made many memories. Charlotte sure is getting big - is she a redhead? We’ve had some snow to look at - Both Mt Shasta and Lassen are covered and the Trinity Alps are as well. We did get some ice on our pond. But in between we’ve had days of sunshine and mild temperatures. It’s raining a little this morning and yes, while it isn’t snowing here in the valley, it’s still our nor/cal rainy winter. Praying it fills up our water shelters and gives us a healthy snowpack.
I missed you. Can’t wait to see more photos of your visit. God bless.
Happy New Year Sheri! That's too bad about your experience with traveling! I can't wait to see your photos!
Love you
Happy new Year. Glad that you had a great time with your family. Welcome back!
Hi Sheri, I was wondering how the travel time was, I am so thankful you are safe and well. And that you had a lovely time with family!!

That really is scary to deal with so much at the airport. I got stuck inside a stall one time and had to crawl out...a bad memory! Glad you had a good time with family and got home safely! WHEW! Love that towel!
The beautiful towel summed it all up so perfectly! It is so hard to fly these days - it seems you are treated more like a criminal than a traveler at times! Those sweet faces you got to enjoy made it all worthwhile! Glad you are getting some snow - we've finally gotten a bit more significant amount yesterday here. I just love the snow, and can't wait to get my cross-country skis on. Many blessings to you dear friend!
Yeah, you are home! I am so glad - I have MISSED you.
That sounds like an awful flight.
Reminded me once at the Giant Fox Grand Theater in Atlanta - my mother and I were seeing something, and she got locked in the bathroom and had to crawl out too.
And I agree sitting in the middle is the worst.
The girls looked so sweet, and I know they were so glad to see you.
And you got fed both ways - a lot of love there.
Welcome home!
Glad you are Home Sweet Home! Sorry about the travel day. Happy and Blessed New Year, my friend.
Glad you had a wonderful time.
So sorry you had to crawl out of the restroom booth.
Goodness, Sheri, so sorry about the airport bathroom. That did not start your wonderful vacation well. But I bet it gets better! The grand girlies are so sweet looking. I know you enjoyed it. Coming back to snow must have been pretty. Stay warm and cozy, my friend.
Sorry, but I chuckled when I read that you had to crawl under the stall. That is a new one! When I first read your post, I thought maybe you were on the flight that the door fell off of. Now that would have been a nightmare flight!
Sounds like your trip was quite eventful, Sheri!
Glad to hear that despite the setbacks, your time spent with family in SoCal was wonderful.
The delightful expressions on those precious faces made the entire experience worthwhile!
Love the photos.
Hugs and blessings 🌹
Sheri,
I am so glad you were able to get out of that situation in the ladies room.that would be terrible. The drive to airport does not sound fun either. The for has been a problem here causing wrecks. Winter sure has arrived hasn't it? I am sure getting there made it all worth it. We are getting a winter storm tonight and tomorrow. I hope you enjoy the snow.
What a frightful travel experience....but, I am sure you loved every minute of your visit with family! I detest flying these days....it used to be a wonderful experience but those days are long gone....wishing you a lovely new year ahead....
Apart from the flight and the trip to the airport, it sounds like a grand time. I'm glad you made it safely and safely home. Love those beautiful smiles on the girls!
I'm SO glad you enjoyed your trip with the family...but sorry about the flight and getting stuck in that stall! Good thinking for just crawling under the door! lol
Snow is not fun...lol
hugs

Oh, Sheri. I am so glad you had a wonderful time with your daughters and granddaughters.
Gosh, the trip to get there did not sound like fun. I don't think I'd be able to climb under the restroom door but you DID it! Good for you. That was a rather dreadful set of circumstances but at least you made your flight! Sincerely, Susan
I enjoyed reading your post and thank you so much for visiting me on my blog. I have grands who live in California. Beautiful state. Hoping to visit there again in the Spring. My daughter and her husband flew out to Cali over the holidays and even though they had pre-paid for a rental car...it was not available when they arrived at the airport. Not good as this cut in to their trip time for about 5 hours. Glad you had a great visit and arrived home safely.
Travel can indeed be a nightmare at times. Well done you for crawling under the door out of the stall! I doubt I could have done that. The hand towel was so appropriate, I bet that made you smile. Baby Charlotte is looking so serene and beautiful - I bet the girls love her to bits. Happy New Year!
Oh! It can be said that travels are a veritable epitome of life, even if they continue only a few days. We go through good things and also bad things during the days; good people and not so good ones. Unforgettable experiences in a travel would make us happier, stronger and also warmer to others. You have reached your beautiful destination with your lively family.
Hi Sheri! I am sorry for your travel troubles but I am glad for your precious time with your adorable family! Great pictures! Health, peace and love and lots of red roses... My wishes for you in 2024!
Hey, checking in, I know, its been awhile!! Glad you got to spend time with the babes. Smiling faces are always so nice, and there is nothing better than a babe or toddler laughing. I love a babe laugh!!
Hi Sheri, so glad you had a great time with your family, Sweet, sweet photos of your darling grands. That exact same thing with a stuck door happened to me in a restaurant. Another customer arrived after 20 minutes and got help. No one had heard me yelling. The grumpy manager arrived and shouldered the door. He told me to climb through the door space but my knees wouldn't have it. He wasn’t a happy man and I felt awful. Later the waitress said that door was always getting stuck. I didn't say anything, I was just glad to get out of there and never went back. That hand towel in Jess' bathroom indeed was perfect, and seeing your sweet family, how wonderful! Welcome home and Happy New Year my friend.
Glad you survived the flight and got there without issue. I have had to sit and have a plane de-iced a couple of times and that always kind of scares me...but I, too, have survived. I have gotten trapped in a bathroom stall twice over the years. It's AWFUL! Have a great rest of the week. xo Diana
