Pumpkin House And Corn On The Cob

It has been a tradition in my family to visit the pumpkin patch every Autumn.  As long as I can remember, I took my own kids on a trip during the brisk Fall season.  Now, the girls carry on the tradition and take their kids to the pumpkin patch every year.  Some years I'm not able to make it, but this year I was fortunate to come along, and we had the best time.  This Fall festival is near Jess' house, and it's a fun one filled with so many wonderful things for the kids to see.

We went on the traditional train ride,

which led us to the corn maze.  It was intriguing and fun walking through the corn stalks that were taller than us!

The kids rode the horses.  They were pretty high, which made it a struggle when getting on, but they were determined to get on their horse all by themselves.....and they did.

It was time to find the perfect pumpkin to take home.  Afterwards, we went to the painting booth and they got another small pumpkin to paint their own creative design.

Jess has always been fascinated with the grey pumpkins.

There was strange looking pumpkins too.

It was so cute to see the kids feeding the ducklings.  They came right up to them and ate from their hands.

Jess carried the baby carefully and comfortably in her baby carrier.

Every year, Jess always has to stop at the pumpkin house.

We were hungry, so we got a bite to eat and sat at the picnic tables for awhile.  We laughed when Jess ordered the corn on the cob.  It was huge, with the corn husks still on.

Before we left, we browsed through the country store.  Nel bought the kids miniature cranberry velvet pumpkins, and I couldn't resist the mini orange one for Charlotte.

And I found the most wonderful pumpkin at the pumpkin patch to take home with me.

Oh my goodness Sheri you brought back so many wonderful memories for me. I used to take my own kids and they I used to take Andy. We had the best times and best memories. I do wonder if the kids remember?

I loved your - ours didn't have as much unless we drove north to the North GA MTNS. They were bigger there.

When you first mentioned horses I thought you meant real ones - how cute the girls were and how nice they have each other.

I am like your daughter they grey ones are fascinating and I LOVE the bumpy ones I think they are so pretty and unique.

Even the baby got to go!

I love to look at that corn - but when I eat it on the cob I cut it off - I just can't take the feel of eating it off the cob - weird I know.

And she was THE CUTEST pumpkin in the patch!

I love the photo of the girls on their horses. What a fun day! And you cannot eat corn on the cob any fresher than this. The grey pumpkins are very intriguing to me, as well.

Oh how fun that you were able to go with them to the pumpkin patch, Sheri! It's so nice that the cousins get to do activities together. Your girls are great moms. I suspect they learned that from you! Charlotte is really growing into a darling little pumpkin. So happy to see all of you having fun together.

Una tradición transmitida de padres a hijos. Se vive de niños y después de mayores, recordando a todos aquellos que la enseñaron y que desgraciadamente, ahora ya faltan.
Un abrazo

I love that your grown daughters are observing traditions that they grew up with. That means they loved their childhoods and want to share a piece of that with their children. We lived a few miles from Half Moon Bay, and we would also visit the pumpkin patches there until word got out and then it became a huge tourist trap and we sadly stopped going. We sat in bumper-to-bumper traffic for hours and then couldn't find a parking space. But I have nice memories and photos.

Cute "horses"

When Foodie was a little boy he used to call those bumpy pumpkins, pumpkins with zits. They grossed him out. lol.

Ahh seeing Jess with the baby all snug as a bug, reminds me of when Navy was first born in Sept and that Halloween I took the boys trick or treating and he came along in the snugli carrier. I loved those carriers!

Thanks for sharing bits of your lovely family - I always enjoy seeing them.

Oh Sheri, what a great Pumpkin Post. Even adorable baby Charlotte is wearing a pumpkin! It looks like the girls had the best time, on a train ride, in a corn maze, riding a horse - all great fun. We visited a pumpkin patch like this in Canada with our grandchildren a few years ago, when we visited in October. Happy memories.
