Not So Pleasant Road Trip

Just got back from another road trip.  The last one was to take care of stuff and to be with family for my birthday, so it was a nice trip, but this one was mainly to take care of stuff, and was not a pleasant road trip.  I have to thank my son for his navigation and getting me to where I was supposed to be.  Who knows where I'd end up on the long drive if he wasn't there helping me along the way.  ; )  Most of the drive was highway, but at one point, the road was blocked and we had to take a detour, which led us to the freeway, so I had to drive the freeway for an hour or so, ugghh.  But with this unpleasant journey, there were also some good things that surfaced.....like the red rose bush that was glistening in the sun in the front entrance of the suite.  And a street sign which reminded me of my dear blog friend that made me smile.  I had to pull over and take a picture of it.  And cupcakes!  We stopped at Smallcakes, and my son bought two chocolate cupcakes.  On the drive there and the way back, we stopped at a Bakery and Cafe, which serves healthy and delicious meals.  On our way home, I needed some comforting soup, so I ordered their chicken pot pie soup.  It was really good.  Here's a few pictures of my trip.  There are not many things that we are certain of in this world, but the one thing I do know for sure is God is good.

Wishing you a good month of June.  I came home to rain!  And my flowering plant is in full bloom.

Pretty blooms. Right now all I have blooming is my Hydrangea's and I LOVE those. I was surprised they bloomed this yr since its the first yr after planting and they were in bloom when I put them in the ground. I have three little ones with a couple blooms each on them. Sounds like you had a great trip. Cupcakes, you had me at that word!! lol....but boy that pie looks amazing.

Hi Sheri. At least the chicken pot pie soup looked yummy. That was a tiny redeemable aspect of the trip. Treats saved the day! I don't blame you for hating the CA highway. Scary with the foot-on-the-gas-pedal drivers. Now you are home, safe and peaceful.

Welcome home, my friend. You have a wonderful way of taking a stressful situation and finding the good in it. I am going to remember that! I love all the photos, but the cupcakes are speaking to me!

A road trip is always a little more fun with a good companion and cupcakes, even if it's not your favorite journey. But another task completed!

So sorry your trip was difficult Sheri. You did find some rays of sunshine off the highway - the red rose is beautiful. I love the Anita sign - I have a sister with this name :) I think I will try to make a chicken pot pie soup because it looks so very delicious, and Winter has just hit us here - and hard!

SHERI! Your new post finally came up for me; yesterday, it had not come up yet in the morning when I check my blog list!

ANITA RD! Oh, that is hilarious....you can say that I was with you along the way on this "not so pleasant road trip!" Like you my friend, I do NOT like driving on freeways, at all. I'm at a point now unfortunately, that I don't like it when my husband drives us on the freeway! We were gifted a vacation stay up in beautiful Duluth, Minnesota and though it's basically a straight drive from our house up on a main freeway, the two hour drive on the freeway is not appealing to me. I wish we could take a train!

I'm glad you had some pleasant moments with the roses, the good food (lovely pastry shoppe!) and the sign that reminded you that friends are always with you, if not in body, in spirit.

Gorgeous pictures... Yes, God is good and we can't forget...Mainly in our difficult times. As a blogfriend says:" Pray and pray hard." Her Mom's usually told this to her. Sorry for my wrong English.

Hi Sheri,
I am happy you found some beauty on your not so pleasant trip. The rose is just beautiful, and the chicken pot pie soup is good for the soul.
I really do not like the freeway, but it is the only way to get out to see my grandchildren. Don't you wish you could just twitch your nose and be there?
haaa
Enjoy your week, dear friend

Glad you are home and safe, Sheri, and glad that your son was there for you during your stressful journey. You managed to find some wonderful things to make the trip a little more pleasant, though. Chocolate cupcakes always make life better! Lovely flowers and the soup does look yummy! I hate freeways, too. I always get anxiety attacks. Home sweet home! Hugs xo K

I am at an age that "stressful" and "trip" never go together! No way...
I'm so sorry you experienced a trip with those two ingredients...
Love the tree!

Sorry you had a rough drive. I am terrible with directions and have a fear of getting lost. I cannot drive in big city traffic at all. It sounds like you made the best of it and found a few pleasant things along the way.
