Fun Facts For June

It's no secret that Starbuck's is my favorite coffee, but there is another coffee that I have whenever I run out of my Starbuck's, or just for a change from time to time.....Folgers!  I remember this coffee growing up, and seeing the charming red cans in many household cupboards.  The 1850 Coffee came out, and I just bought it!  Yes, it has been perfected for over 170 years! - 1850 when James A. Folger first started crafting coffee.

The jingle that became one of the most well known still makes me smile when I hear it.

"The Best Part of Wakin' Up is Folgers in Your Cup."

The California Quail.  I share him every now and then, cause he's a funny bird to me.  I never saw them living up north, but they are abundant in the mountains, and visit me every single day.  I believe this is a female.  Females are a plainer brown and don't have the black face with bold white stripes that the male has.

This is the male.  Quails spend most of their time on the ground.  They usually travel in groups called coveys.  This delightful bird has had roles in several Walt Disney movies, including Bambi.

Mount Shasta.  I can see it clearly when I drive down the road.  About three weeks ago, it was the most pretty sight, as it still had snow on it and mist.  Elevation is 14, 179.  It is considered a sacred mountain to the Native Americans, and the local Karuk tribe called it "White Mountain."

My flowering plant.  I love to see it in full bloom every Spring.  I don't know for a fact what the name of the flowering plant is - I had a blog friend once share what she thought it was, so maybe you could tell me what you think.  Nevertheless, it really is a lovely bush, and when I go out early in the morning to water it, I see the hummingbird hover around it.  I heard they love the sound of water trickling.

And the last fun fact is Mia started pre-school!  I just love her rainbow dress and polka dot shoes.

And Francesca's last day of pre-school.  She so reminds me of a little Jess.

Have a good week, and I hope you learn some fun facts about the things you love.  Here's the red vintage coffee can that stocked many cupboards when I was growing up.

I wanted to keep the 1850 bag, but it ripped, so I picked up another one.  ; )

It looks like a Multiflora Rose, originally from Japan 1866, used as a fence plant, erosion, roadsides. Read more at www.concordma.gov
For a small flower, it has a big beautiful subtle rose scent. Use to fill the backyard. The website also has other rose names that can replace it, if needed. Maybe yours is one of them.

Love Folgers! It is in my cup as I type. lol. It has been ages since I heard the jingle. Thank you for the memory smiles

Folgers...just the word brings the jingle to mind. And your girls are getting so big. They are darling It is 101 degrees in St. Louis. Bet it's cooler where you are.

We drink Folgers. But the last time I went to the store the price jumped to $12 for just the regular type so I bought a $5 can of Winco’s brand and we were pleasantly surprised it tasted fine. We add cinnamon to our coffee grounds or cardamom.

Nice post like always. We have some quail around here - They are adorable birds.

I see Mt Shasta and Mt Lassen daily as well - they are beautiful with all the snow which is good to see.

God bless.

Dear, dear Sheri, good morning!

I remember Folgers Coffee! My parents drank this or Hills Bros. then later in life turned to Sanka Decaf...lots of history here in this coffee memory! The girls are growing so fast and talk about birds, I've been watching a house wren gather materials to make her nest in my birdhouse. It's hilarius to watch her try to get a LONG stick through the little hole. hehehe

Hi,
I have that jingle stuck in my head now. Hee Hee! I am a fan of Folgers too.
I love when you share the quail with us, they are so pretty. We do not have them here in Wisconsin.
High Fives to your grandgirls, they are growing up so fast!

I remember the Folger's song really well! Those brownies look awfully good. The quail are just the CUTEST!! I know they even make their nests in the ground. So not many chicks must survive. It's a wonder that they are not endangered! You live in such a beautiful place.

First of all, congrats to Mia! And that's a gorgeous busy. I remember that Folger's song. It's funny -- I know more jingles from the past than now-- where ads are everywhere!

Congrats on starting preschool and finishing! I am sure the girls are so excited! They are adorable. Folgers is my favorite coffee. I also love the quail. I can see Mt. Shasta from my house too. It is so pretty when it is covered in snow. I think your flowering plant could be a Mock Orange. Does it have a scent?

Sheri - Folgers is my favorite coffee. I didn't realize it was that old of a company. Always loved their commercials. Hope to see Bag at the store just like yours...so far haven't seen this packaging around here. Sheri I think your flowering plant may be multi-flora rose. It is extremely invasive here and can take over entire farms if not kept in check. Our farmers hate it for that reason. I love their fragrance though and when I am out walking it really perfumes the air. Hope you are having a lovely day

and "will be waking up to Folgers in Your Cup."

I cannot believe how Mia and Francesca are growing. The children just grow up so fast. I always wished I could put a pause on Lorelei growing up...just for a little while here and there.

I love the California Quail...I think they are so pretty. I want to go look them up and see what kind of call they have.

Those flowers looks like they might be some kind of rose or wild rose. But I am not sure.

I have Folger's in my cabinet...always do. I do love it. And something that is different is 8 O'clock coffee. That is what I grew up on and I still like it.

I remember those old Folger's commercials well! There was nothing better than waking up to the smell of a pot of that coffee percolating on the stove.

The picture of the pouring coffee almost makes me feel like I can smell it. I don't drink coffee, but love the fragrance. Your little grand daughters are growing up so fast. I have always loved seeing California Quail. They are so beautiful. Mt. Shasta does make me smile too. Whenever I have driven down I-5 I just love when I spot Mt. Shasta. How is the water level in the lake there?
