Drive Down The Mountain Into The Valley

I had to take yet another road trip last week, and it was a two hour drive there and two hour drive back; not as long as the last one, but it turned out to be a tricky drive cause we ran into a road block and had to take a long detour on the freeway.  I was upset, cause I didn't want to miss the appt., and we got there about 20 min. later than scheduled, and we just missed him.  We called, and explained about the traffic, and he apologized for having to leave so quickly, as he had somewhere to be as well.  He told us he was going to be up that way where I live over the weekend, so he'll just stop by and have the appt. then.  I wasn't sure he'd make it, and I was afraid we'd have to travel back there again.  But he did.  He came by and apologized again, and we understood cause we were a bit late also, so it all worked out.  It restored my faith in people, as I haven't heard I'm sorry in a long time.  He's a good man.  Needless to say, it wasn't a pleasant trip, cause the valley was hot and sticky and awful for me traveling, but the bright point was the cafe that serves healthy meals that we stopped at again.  It has a charming atmosphere with its orange light fixtures and friendly workers.  We shared a whiskey burger and seasoned fries, and after, a sugar cookie and coffee.  Not sure why they call it a whiskey burger, no alcohol in it, but it sure was good.  Here's some pictures of the trip, and at our first stop I saw a CAL FIRE truck all ready to go for unexpected fires that we often get in the Summers.  They are amazing, and we appreciate them so much up here, working diligently and never giving up.

I was thankful we got home safe and that I was once again in my little house in the woods.  When I returned home, I noticed my peach mini rose had bloomed.  It survived the Winter's snow.

Well, I am nosey - what kind of appointment? Hope you are okay. You are mysterious.

The flowers were gorgeous, and that cookie looked so good.

Glad you made it there and home safely.

Sorry about the road block. That makes road trips a real bummer. I am glad you were able to have your appointment in your area too. That was very nice. I really want that sugar cookie. That looks so yummy. I am so glad your rose survived! It looks beautiful!

What lovely flowers! We are not fond of taking road trips when the temperatures are high. We try to keep the cars in good condition, though there’s the chance of some kind of difficulty developing, and it wouldn’t be good to be waiting in the heat on the side of the road for assistance. We’ve had those detours, too, that have made us late for our appointed time. I hope everything is all right with you!

I'm glad things worked out for you in the end. Your roses are so soft and beautiful! And I love your photo of the tree, the angle you snapped it from.

It’s good to read it all worked out for you Sheri :) He also sounded like a very nice man with a good heart and good manners. I’m also glad you had a nice cafΓ© to stop at in all that heat. The whiskey burger sounded intriguing and the seasoned fries, I always love those. Those firefighters deserve our never-ending thanks, such heroes!!! Pretty scenes and gorgeous flowers. Please send that cookie over, lol! All joking aside, have a great week.

Hena, it wasn't a doctor appt. My son signed up for some classes, and he can take them on-line, but had to sign up for them in person, so I just took the trip with him.

Your mini roses are so beautiful Sheri, and so are the other pink and blue blooms. It does warm our hearts when someone is courteous and keeps a promise. We had a very good tradesman here last week to replace a door, and it was a treat to have someone respectful and efficient, who stayed until the job was done. Sadly, this is rather rare these days in our country. I hope I find a whiskey burger one day :)

Good morning Sheri! I am glad you had this trip if only to find out how kind and descent some people still are.

First of all....I love that rose. I cam not a big on roses myself, but that color is amazing. Love it. I am sorry your trip was stressful and you had to rearrange a meeting. Hate when crap like that happens. Been hotter than blue blazes here except for the last four days but today, its back. Its one pm here and I am about to make the Russian Blue deck/heat loving cat come in for a bit. Hoping you have an amazing week.

The whiskey burger might be referring to Whiskeytown. Just a thought...

Pretty color on that blushing rose. I don't mind long car rides as long as I have AC. I do most of the driving or at least one way and then my husband drives back. I tend to get car sick...better for me to drive; it keeps my mind off my dizziness.

I'm pretty bored lately - staying home which I have always enjoyed but I would like to get out and explore a bit more than I have been doing.

Take Care.

So glad you were able to work out the appointment and get it done in a different way. It looks like you made a nice adventure out of something not so enjoyable.

The peach rose is truly beautiful, such a gorgeous color. I usually like to take road trips, but I hate it when you have to take detours because of blocked roads. Glad that in the end everything worked out.

Sheri how wonderful that the person you were to meet was willing to come to you. Your mini rose is so lovely. I have a pink one but it has not bloomed this summer...hoping it will. Your photos are beautiful. Looks like the trip was not wasted because you captured some pretty pics! Hugs
