Just Because

I'm settling in the new place, and it's been a long week of cleaning, organizing, and putting things just where I want them.  The fun part is decorating for me when all the work is done.  Jess bought me a new white and grey area rug that's coming soon.  I always know I'm home when I place my girl statue on the front porch of each house I move to.  Nel bought me this doormat from Target, and it's fitting, as I'm with my family once again.

They ordered me this dessert for Mother's Day, and it was Yummy.  It tasted so good with a hot cup of coffee.

The girls made grandma's enchiladas.

Yes, it's already swim time in California.
No going to the beaches yet,
but the kids have fun with this blow up crab
right in the back yard.

Some blooms

Francesca is learning to play hide and seek, and this picture makes me laugh.  There is a BIG sunflower randomly growing in Jess' patio area.

Some housewarming gifts from the girls
to brighten the place up.

View of the mountains from my bedroom window.

Every house where love abides and friendship is a guest,
is surely home, and home sweet home,
for there the heart can rest.  ~Henry Van Dyke

It's coming along,
but so much more to do.

Hello!
My goodness, I missed one post, and you have moved!
How exciting! And exhausting. And exciting!
Your new home sounds lovely, and the view?!
How very wonderful your daughter did so much to help you.
I love the photo you shared.
I often think of that, my friend.
How we cared and nurtured and loved those little ones.
So unaware that one day, they would do the same for us.
Hugs and love from Pa.

I know how tiring it is to move and get organized. I am thrilled that you are near family again. The pics of the granddaughters are precious! Thankful for your daughters and their assistance and lovely gifts to you. That is a gorgeous view you have. I wish you so much happiness. xo

COngratulations, Sheri. I love how you are settling in. I can't imagine how exhausting it is to settle in and make your home your own. I'm so glad you have had some good help from your girls -- and some fun break time enjoying the LITTLE girls! Unpacking is crazy but you feel so good when it's done!

Oh my gosh - you are close to the beach and the mountains - is there another place near you? How I would love that. What part of LA is that?
All you items for your home are very pretty. The girls have been good to you. Love the lobster and the giant sunflower. There are enchiladas with blueberries? Well it sounds like you love it there already. Glad you are happy!

Sandie, it's not near LA. It's a whole different county, and it's a neighborhood in the suburbs. But it is close to the ocean and the mountains. : )

To see mountains through your bedroom window is amazing! I'm a mountain girl and nothing seems more wonderful. At both our old house and here we're surrounded by hills and I love seeing them daily.

Your new doormat is charming and makes me happy to know that you are near family. Those sweet granddaughters are adorable! And it's easy to see that your daughters are doing everything possible to make you feel at home in your new home. Our daughter who moved here last week from Montana with her husband came to see me yesterday and I needed that so much, it's been far too long. She and her dad grilled steaks out for us and I have to admit it was wonderful to have family at our table again. There is nothing like family!

I'm so glad to hear you are settling in nicely in your new home! What good daughters you have. The grands are just the cutest little girls in their crab pool. And your Mother's Day desserts are making my mouth water. I love the little bird plate and lovely flowers. Pace yourself Sheri, you will get it all done in time, my friend.

Well done Sheri, you are in your new home! What a big undertaking it is, but how lovely to be near the dear little girls. The mountain view is wonderful - you will love to look at it every day. Already you have found some new flowers to share, and what a sunflower that is..I have never seen one so big. With your sweet door mat and little girl statue, it will soon feel like home.

Hello dear Sheri! I just saw you came to my blog! I don't get much traffic these days but that is OK; I think my blog content will be like a breeze that blows in and out and whoever cares to tumble in for a visit, that is OK with me. Thank you for your friendship and support. So summer is upon you now! Oh, we have a long way to go ourselves. I wish spring would just sit a little longer.

There is always a certain amount of energy involved around making a house a home and I know that you will take that energy and make your home wonderful.
Moving is exhausting though, emotionally, mentally and physically. I am thankful that you have such support, this will make all the difference. I am catching up on emails and I will email you the link to the kitchen utensil set!
