Just Because, A New Year

It gets pretty busy around the holidays, and all I've wanted to do lately is get back to nature, a place of simplicity, and if I don't visit as often as I should, it always calls me home.  January is the coldest month here, and there has been frost on the lawns in the neighborhood.

Our sweet birds
in northern California....
nature's song.

Saw a few pretty sunrises recently.

Met my son for a Starbuck's treat
very early in the morning.

These small flowers
are still hanging on in the cold.

I think I like the alleys
because you always find something
interesting there.

Red roses seem to follow me
wherever I go.

So then, neither the one who plants
nor the one who waters
is anything,
but God who is causing it
to grow.
1 Corinthians 3:7

A good reminder for the new year.

Oh, what a delight it will be
to see the grandkids
on this.

Remember these?
When Jess put this in my stocking, I don't think she knew how special it was to me.  I used to walk down to the store when I was a young girl, about a mile away from our house, and look at all the penny candy.  I would collect my nickels and dimes and buy all the candy I could with it.  Sometimes I would get one of these, and you know, I still love them to this day.  : )

I want to write in my journal
more in the new year.

As I was looking through the store windows,
I noticed this.

My wish for you in 2019 is
kindness
May you receive it,
and also shower it on others.

love you,
~Sheri

Good morning, precious Sheri! ME TOO...I used to collect bottles with my cousins and take them to the corner liquor store to cash them in for candy! The biggest treat was getting a Chunky Bar, costing a whopping 25 cents!

Memories are the most precious thing. Dear heart, wishing you a splendid 2019!!!!

What a lovely post. Your sunrises and all the pretty little birds . . . looks like walking your neighborhood is a peaceful way to start the day. Two days ago we had a good snow, not much but 2 or 3 inches and it made everything look so pretty. This morning it is all gone, not a sign of it anywhere. We're having a mild winter so far, but like you said January & February here are our coldest months. I don't mind it that much; I've changed my opinion of winter and now call it the quilting season. That helps, LOL.
Wishing you a lovely new year.
Connie :)

Happy New Year dear Sheri. It is always a delight to read your posts, and this is gorgeous. The little red and yellow birds are so sweet, and I can imagine your sweet granddaughters on the little carousel. As for a Moon Pie - have never seen it before, but now I want to. It looks absolutely delicious!

My dear Sheri, this is such a coincidence or perhaps I should say "God-incidence!" Because I'm sure that He has been impressing it on me the last few days to have my priority this year to be Kindness, beginning in the home of course but simply everywhere I go. Wouldn't it be wonderful if many are receiving this same message because we so need kindness in our world today, don't we?

And as always, your photos bring the birds around you to life. I think you must feel a real love for the little creatures. My husband is like that. I tell him he runs a Hotel Hilton for them but they pay us back with so much beauty. Keep on seeing the beauty around you, Sheri!

Darling Sheri, HELLO!

Thank you for coming to my blog. Roses are the way I start the new year, since here in January, there are no garden flowers out yet! Roses are easily available from Trader Joes! Yes, I'm having a blast with my new camera, which has a lot of POWER that I need to harness.

Let's make this year a great one!

Back again... ha ha... I am just reading through this morning!

I noticed something this time...

"So then, neither the one who plants
nor the one who waters
is anything,
but God who is causing it
to grow.
1 Corinthians 3:7"

There's GROW again!
