'Tis the Season

It's been a while since I've posted.

I have been so busy teaching and mom-ing. How does one do it all? I hope it gets easier...eventually.

I have been trying to savor the Christmas season. This year feels more magical as I'm starting to get this new parenting thing down, and Francesca can enjoy a lot more.

We saw Santa for the first time, and went Christmas shopping.

I've been baking a little here and there.

Mom made these delicious sugar cookies. Her favorite movie, White Christmas, just so happened to be playing as they trimmed the tree.

We enjoyed an evening sunset and walk outside once our smokey air began to clear.

How have you been savoring the season?

~Jess

I always enjoy your photos. It is hard to find balance, I know it, Jess. I will be praying for you during this special time of year. I too struggle to fit it all in and each year I pray to find more balance in my days.
Love, Carla

Lovely pictures! December is a busy time ;-)) I do not stress the Christmas Eve. Maybe a bake cake. My man, go to work at Christmas. Christmas is a normal day for us. Have a nice week

It does get easier, Jess, I promise it does. And every year at Christmas the fun grows and grows, each stage more wonderful than the last. Meanwhile, remember you're doing what you're supposed to be doing so pat yourself on the back every night when bedtime comes and you tuck your darling Francesca into bed--for a while anyway! Rest as much as you can when she is.

It doesn't get any easier. It gets harder. But the good thing is that we get better at handling it, making priorities, choices, saying no when we need to and yes when either forces or because we want to so much. So, maybe in a way that DOES make it a little easier. And every year gets better and better because there is more joy, more fun, more love, more confidence, more energy (until you hit a certain point when you have none and then making choices is easier.)

You'll find the balance. You're smart, you know what is important and you know what and who matter most. And really, that's what will make life easier at holidays and for that matter, any other day of the year. Meanwhile, I love seeing your savoring and your sweet girl, lovely treats, pretty tree. I'd say you're doing just fine!

It's looking beautiful around your home, Jess. I love the photo of you and your darling daughter in front of "her" shop. The photo of you and her decorating is so sweet. I love your Mom's tree and her pretty snow globes. So happy to hear the horrible smoke is leaving your area. Have a wonderful Christmas! ♥

Oh the mom thing will continue for a long time. I think you know though just to savor it all and take moments to stop and breathe even if it is just a stroll through the mall. Enjoy the season. It will be different for you having a little one.

I came here to your blog with the intention of doing a search for Francesca to see how big she is getting, and couldn't believe it when this post included her...she looks like she is growing so much. Such a little darling!

Aw Jess you will get that parenting thing down just fine, until things change! Then as little one changes you will sometimes have to change the way you parent. Bad thing is, you will always question what you do. Remember to be the parent not the best friend and just love her! I love baking, so much more then cooking. I love, love, love that Santa cup.

Beautiful post. It's so festive. I'm wondering about something. I got a gift of beautiful roses today in the mail and your mom came to mind. It doesn't have a card with it but if she did I can't thank her enough. They are gorgeous and red and white roses planted in a pot. If not Sheri then I'm even more curious. If so Thank you Sheri so much. You are a sweet friend and I love you. Hugs.

Thank you for responding Sheri and I just knew it was you. When I think of roses I always think of you. I will let you know if I ever find out. thanks so much sweet friend. Love and Hugs

You are doing two of the most important jobs in the world - raising a child, and teaching. You have to live for all those wonderful, magical moments in between all the hard work. It looks like you are doing just that! Lovely photos! x Karen
