My Special Friend

One of my favorite things to do is spend time with my son.  Is there someone you just "connect" with?  Well, that's how it is with me and him.  He makes me laugh, we share stories, he's respectful, and he's one of those people that you just want to be around.  When he was little I used to swing him on a tire swing all the time that was in my aunt's front yard.  This isn't a picture of him, but it sure brings back those sweet memories.

Now, I'm not a big fan of tatoos, but when he came home with a cross on his arm, I couldn't help but smile.  Before he got the tatoo, I told him that he should know what the holy cross means before putting it on his body.  After telling me, in his own words, I realized he knew exactly what it means, and I am so pleased to know that it is written in his heart.

We go and get a bite to eat once a week and catch up on the happenings of our lives.

Being so active with work, studying, hobbies, working out, he still makes time for good ole' mom, and I am so thankful for that.

He is like a light in the window on a dark day.

Is there someone that makes you feel happy every time you're around them?

What a wonderful description of your relationship. "He is like a light in the window on a dark day." You are lucky, indeed for such close ties.

and I can totally relate as I have only one child who I love dearly
my 12 year old son. I just love to be with him and your story is inspiring... I mean at least you still get to meet him once a week now that he has his own life to live.

Good Morning Sheri, This was a lovely post to read. It is wonderful that you are so close to your son.
My closest friends are my daughters, Natasha and Danielle, I love them dearly and I have a wonderful time when I am with them, but sadly they both live away.....but it is so exciting when we meet up, and we have great fun.
Best Wishes to you and your lovely son,

Disclaimer: I Love Tatoos! I really do. No. I don't have any and haven't encouraged any of my kids to do one.

Like you I like to believe it is something personal - their body in fact - and if they need a reminder or a sign - through a tatoo - of it, who am I to interfere?

Both my kids make me feel the same way you do. They're - trully - my other half.

With husband the Love is different but I don't think he's my "missing" (I'll explaing the missing remark below) part. He is a wonderful, amazing in fact, part that I need to... breath. To be. To...

But my kids...

We're so different but at the same time the same.

I do think that when we carry them inside they take all that time because they are picking the best of us and forming the most amazing human being.

If you're fortune to go several times that journey you learn that you had lots to spare and each will take advantage of what suits them ahahahah

I believe this is the first time I'm admiting this but when Miguel was born we were instantly friends.

He is the older. I was so young and, girl, did he do everything to make things easy for me. That tiny being knew when I wanted to sleep, to play and complied. He still does.

When Mafalda came we were already best pals. And I didn't bond with her the same way.

That girl gave me the run as soon as she popped out ahahah. We didn't become instant friends. Not really. I think she was born to be the Alpha Female and wouldn't give up her title for her life.

If that meant to call attention to my shorts she did. If that meant making me (or triyng to) strong as she is she was ruthless.

Then one day I stopped ressenting her role, and found my BFF.

She still thinks funny of my relation with Miguel - she is in that phase that thinks he isn't that gorgeous, that funny, that intelligent - but started finding funny that silly me thinks so (see? like friends do when they don't trust their teen friend's judgement ahahah not only related with her brother but also Celebrities and Ideas and Tastes)

They make me feel like you do. When I "meet" them - wether after a long day of work, or when they return from a few days out (since they're both living with us) - I can clearly listen to- and feel the - click. Of complementing and making it perfect and complete.

If I feel unperfect and uncomplete without them? No. Curiously enough I don't. I think they leave behind enough to keep me going ahahahah

Why did I thought you had a teenager son and not a grown-up?! For some reason - and you know I'm prone to this - I thought he was the baby of the house. Still underfoot. A teen like my daughter... Your love sounded new, that's it.

Thank you for introducing him to us. I love knowing new - great - people.

Yours,
Teresa

Oh Sheri,

what greater experience could a mother have than to have her child (especially a boy!!!!!!!) just give so much BACK for all that you have given? This is so precious and the photos you have found to accompany your words are just perfect. The polar bear and her cub? PRICELESS....I cry! I always wanted a son, a boy who would grow to be a man that would just admire me...teeehehehehehhehe!!!!!!!!!!! OH YEAH! That is true! But the person who makes me feel this way? MY HUSBAND, of course. He is like that brother I never had, that son (oh yeah, in many ways....) and all that anyone could want in a husband.

Have a lovely day dear heart! Anita

Dear Sheri,

You are so blessed with this beautiful boy! I'm a Mom of two boys and even though they are all gown up, we still have that special bound.

A few years ago I saw this little poem, and thought I will share it with you...

"They know me in a way no one ever has. They open me to things I never knew existed. They drive me to insanity and push me to my depths. They are the beat of my heart, the pulse of my veins, and the energy in my soul ~ they are my kids." ~Unknown ~

Hugs,
B.

Good morning sweet one!

Thank you for coming to read my poem; yes, my father's ancestors are SPANISH, having founded a whole town in Mexico and establishing their European roots there. My mother used to grow what looked like MINT by the side of the garage, but in Spanish is called Yerba buena (Good herb) and when I had a sore tummy, there goes my mum, cutting leaves and making tea. It was GROSS! But it took away the pain.

I would love to see your write where YOU ARE FROM, using the template I provided via the link. TRY IT!

Happy Sunday my dear, Anita

"...a light in the window on a dark day." You. :)
Thinking of you.
I decided to go back to my simpler and quieter blog during my leave from the shop. Hope you'll visit. I think it's perfect for me right now during this transitional year. We will probably move again before the end of the year. My art table will have to wait for now. I need simplicity again.
Love you, friend.
Hugs to you.
I love being with my son too. We are blessed mamas.
