There's Nothing Like A...

As you know, we love Photography.  I took a black and white Photography class years ago, and got to develop my own pictures.  To watch them being created right before my eyes was a thrill.  There's nothing more mysterious and beautiful to me than a black and white photo.  Here are a few pictures that I took back then.

Who doesn't love a horse and carriage ride?

One hundred year-old Oak Tree

Back in my home town, this Deli made the best hot pastrami sandwiches.

The Wonderful Disneyland!

This 92 year old woman was kind enough to let me take a picture of her....Bless her.

Colored pictures are pretty too, BUT...

There's nothing like a black and white.

This is my favorite picture of my mom and dad.

Love is a fruit in season at all times, and within reach of every hand.

Do you have a black and white photo that you treasure?

I have all my dad's pics from the army, some of my grandparents, and some of my aunts and uncles. I LOVE THEM TOO.
I love the carriage, but how interesting to see the car parked behind it, lol.
LOVE your mom and dads too.
Happy Wed my friend.

Meant to say how fun that wine rack is too! I love to go to wineries. They always have gorgeous landscaping (and yummy wine too).

Beautiful picture Sheri..I too love black and white..at one time that is all I would buy when buying film..remember film? haha..I took a photography class back in the day but never did venture into a dark room. Missed out on that experience. I love the picture of your mom and dad..that is so awesome..a true Kodak moment!

Fantastic images! I think black and white photographs have more character. The huge oak tree and the shot of your parents are really terrific, though all are wonderful.

Sheri- What beautiful photos. I love the one of your Mom and Dad and LOVE the one of the old oak tree, too. I think you see MORE somehow in a black and white. I would love to take a class in photography someday! xo Diana

I was a reporter and photographer years ago for a local paper. The editor was a photographer and took me under her wing. We shot exclusively in Black and White. Loved developing them. Was always fun. But to tell you the truth I love Sepia photos more. Your photographs are delightful.

Your B&W photos are wonderful. Some pictures just look better in B&W--more striking and dramatic. What a great pic of your Mom and Dad--I love all the old pictures of my parents too. I actually have some of grandparents and great grandparents that were taken back in the 1890's. Thanks for sharing your great pics. Mickie :)

Oh Wow! This post really hit a cord with me. I love black and white, especially the older ones that hold so many memories. I've never been fortunate enough to take a class, but would love to some day. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful post! It's always a pleasure to visit your blog!

Hi Sheri, I agree with you that there is something special about black and white photography. You posted some great pics here. I especially like the ones with the horse carriage, the old oak tree, and the elderly lady. The photo of your parents is great, too. I just realized that I never have done any black and white photography with my digital camera. Maybe I will try out to photograph my garden and my roses in black and white in the future. Thanks for inspiring me!

I'm dying of envy here... you can develop your pictures? And in B&W? Definetly jelous.

Digital removed the surprise and wondering factor of pictures... as pratical as it is to sort in time what you get you must admit in the end it's a bit anti-climatic.

I do have several black&white pictures I treasure and even now with the digital I still transform a few because I really love it.

Happy Weekend Dear Sherri, in Black&White and all Colours of Happiness!

Oh wow, Sheri, I love black and white pictures too. That picture of the 90 y/o lady is priceless. To me faces that have lived so long have so much story in them. I love it, and I love the one of your parents. I have a lot of black and whites that I treasure but my favorite is one of me with my dad. I have it under at: http://www.blogger.com/post-edit.g?blogID=1671338509704270302&postID=5835951531548545506

Thanksgiving blessings to you and yours!!
PS-I LOVED lingering a little longer than usual to listen to your music. Sigh...love, love, love!

Ohhhh, now that last one was just fabulous!!! THEY LOOKED SO HAPPY! I think black and white has an effect of even more so FREEZING the moment in time. Color of course is magical, but I LOVE PARIS in black and white. Dearest, thank you for visiting tonight and I WILL eat a lot of turkey, if I can find the one I want. I love using the skinless boneless turkey breast. I was able to find it the last couple years at a reasonable price but I just saw it last night for WAY TOO EXPENSIVE, and it is only the breast! Oh well, we shall rejoice and I wish you a HAPPY HOLIDAY!!!! Anita

I have been a lover of black and white pics forever. They are timeless and from a personal level I prefer to have my pic taken in B&W it makes everything seem softer. Love your blog thanks for having me I will follow on my way out and hope you get the chance soon to come visit and follow me. Cheers SpecialK XoXo
