Goal!

Atlanta has a new soccer team, and their season just started.

I became interested in soccer (fùtbol, as it's called in Latin America) during a 2010 trip to Costa Rica.

The World Cup was going on, and it was amazing to see how passionate the locals were about the game. No matter where you went--the cafes, the carnicerías, even the beach--soccer was playing on TVs and radios, and the crowds in the background were always going wild. I've wanted to go to a live soccer match since then, and last weekend we finally got our chance.

Atlanta United was playing the Chicago Fire, and we bought tickets for what ended up being a sold-out game. 45,000 people going crazy for their team, shouting "A-T-L! A-T-L! A-T-L!" It was really exciting, and Atlanta ended up beating Chicago 4-0!

The view of Downtown from the stadium was so pretty too.

Just another perfect Southern Saturday.

Today I Will Be Irish

I only have one item in my house that is Irish.  Many years ago, a jolly Irish Priest gave us four Irish coffee glasses.  It was such a thoughtful gift, and I've had them all these years.  I will pass them on to one of my kids someday.

So, this morning I made myself a cup of coffee in one of the Irish glasses and thought about our dear friend.

Like old friends from
a thousand wonderful moments,
the memories gathered.
The laughter still rang in the walls.

I'm really into the spirit of St. Patrick's Day, and even bought a shirt to wear for the occasion.

Happy St. Patrick's Day.
I will pretend to be Irish.   ; )

Inside The Box

I was doing some spring cleaning and giving some things away, when I came across a box in my closet.  Inside the box are sentimental items that I can never give away.  Things that mean a lot to me for one reason or another.

A hand made sachet and note
from Nel,
and a ceramic turtle Jess made.
(both when they were little)

A couple of silver items
that belonged to my mother,
a heart box
and angel wings.

A sketching of my dad in the Army.
He was so handsome.  : )

It's amazing to me
that inside a small box carries
so much joy and love
and memories that will stay
with me forever.

A Day For Women

Today is International Women's Day.  What a day to celebrate women from all over the world.  Now, there's not a whole lot of women I admire in this world, but there are a few, and one of them is Maya Angelou.  She was a remarkable woman with a genuine heart.

Here are some of my favorite quotes of hers.

If you are always
trying to be normal,
you will never know
how amazing you can be.

Be a rainbow in someone
else's cloud.

Listen to yourself
and in that quietude
you might hear the
voice of God.

In the flush of love's light
we dare be brave
And suddenly we see
that love costs all we are
and will ever be.
Yet, it is only love
which sets us free.

And my very favorite,

There is no place where
God is not.
~Maya Angelou

Here's to all my wonderful
women blog friends.
Is there a woman that you
admire greatly in this
world?  Please share.

Gift Card

Nel sent me a card
the other day, along with a
Kohl's gift card,
just because.

I love getting surprises in the mail,
and went shopping at Kohl's
right away.
I bought a floral shirt
for spring,
and a big mint chocolate bar
to take home and enjoy.

I think I will use aqua
in my Easter decorating this year.

When I was doing some
spring cleaning,
I came across this picture of Jess
when she dressed up as
a fairy one year.
It's a favorite picture of mine,
but for some reason,
she doesn't think it's that good of her.
Mothers see little things
that their children don't, right?

I just can't get enough of these
Pink blossom trees
in my town.

Have a wonderful week.
