It Has Been Said

The waterfalls are on the outskirts of my town, and a week ago I had the pleasure of visiting them once again.  The ideal time to go is right when Spring arrives, as the summer months attract the tourists and are more crowded.  There were only a few people visiting when I went with my son, and they amaze me every time.  It has been said....."It is not the highest or largest waterfall in the state, but possibly the most beautiful."

It really is like a scene from Jurassic Park when you are surrounded by all the trees coming from every direction.

The Falls from another view.  The water comes from underground springs above and at the Falls, and provides a constant flow of water, even during the dry summer months.

A spider web of water.

A close-up of the Falls.  People have walked down to the base, and have jumped in the refreshing water during the warm months.

The mates come together and soar the skies.

And trees as tall as you can imagine.

There's a stream that flows right next to the Falls that always catches my eye.

The trail going down is pretty easy to walk, but it's a bit more tricky going up.

It was a grand day!

My Special Day At The Waterfalls

I had the most wonderful birthday last week.  It was a big year, so I wanted it to be special.  I first got a call from Nel and Jess and the grandkids wishing me a sweet day (I already celebrated my birthday with them last month).  I went outside to get the mail that morning, and was surprised to find a package from Jess.  She sent me so many goodies, and I had already opened Nel's gifts earlier.  I loved the pretty cards they gave me.

Then, I got a birthday e-mail from an old high school friend.  It was sweet of him to remember.  And I opened up my blog e-mail only to find that my dear blog friend sent me birthday greetings too!  We go way back, since our first years of blogging.

Then, I got a birthday e-mail from my brother.  He sent me a couple pics from back in the day.  In the snow pic, I'm the little one on the ground with my sister, and my brothers are up in the tree.

I spent the day at the waterfalls with my son (which I'll share later).  I've only been to the Falls in the Summertime.  The weather was just right, and it's beautiful in the Spring.  They have a delightful shop there, so we went inside and looked around - they sell souvenirs, sweatshirts, and snacks.  After, we ate lunch on the picnic tables outside - smoked turkey, havarti cheese, artichoke pasta salad from the deli.

When we got home, I noticed my sister had called, which made me glad.  I also received a birthday e-mail from my best friend,

and one from my other dearest friend.  She sent me this picture of the three of us.

I wanted to share the gifts that Jess gave me.  I love this frame with the kids' picture in it.  The frame is white marble and is heavy.  She got it from World Market, if you are interested.

Drawings from Francesca and Mia, which always go up on the fridge.  Mia's will be here shortly.

Celebrations are not the same without Jess' gift of See's candy.  Her and Brian always get me a box of chocolates, and it is truly one of my favorite things of all.

Coffee and cafe au lait truffle is a double treat.

I got very emotional when I opened up this grandmother's journal.  I can't wait to write in it.

And lastly, I came across this while out shopping, and just had to get it.  Sometimes we need to treat ourselves, especially when it is calling our name.

To end the special day, I had a combination Pizza, and choclate cake for dessert. 🎂

May Moments

I hope you had a nice Mother's Day.  Mine was a pleasant one with the girls calling early in the morning, and spending the afternoon with my son.  We had hot dogs, barbecue chips, and root beer, and it was such a nice sunny day that we ate outside on the white chairs - I had cleaned them the day before and put them on the front porch.  After, I gave all the plants a good watering, while he stayed out there and visited with his mama.  Later, we watched a Netflix movie, Nonnas, with Vince Vaughn and Susan Sarandon.  It was a heartwarming film with lots of Italian food!

While we were out on the front porch eating lunch, a deer slowly walked pass the house and jumped my neighbor's fence.  It was a special treat for Mother's Day.  My son bought me a new coffee cup and some chocolate.

I have been drinking a cup of green tea every afternoon. ☕

While out and about running errands on Saturday, I found myself driving to the creek.  Its so pretty this time of year, and I'm still waiting on those California poppies.  These horses were outside their stalls, so I got a chance to take a pic.

Springtime, and everything is green!

Even the cactus plant was pretty, and I'm not a cactus lover at all.

I was wondering what these yellow flowers were growing wild?

As I was leaving, I drove slowly over the bridge, and got a Mother's Day surprise.

I drove ahead a little, and another one appeared.

Then, looking ahead, there was one after another.  There had to be a couple dozen!  They were all just resting there in the meadow.  I've seen deer in this area before, but not this many.

I wanted to show you Mia's fairy garden.  The fairies come to the wishing well and bring small gifts for Mia every now and then.  ; )

And some of Nel's flowers in her garden.  She planted a variety of flowers together in these cool looking pots.

May is a beautiful month.  Enjoy it while it's here. 🌷🌸🌹🌺🌻🌼
