Spring Rain!

Well, they just don't make appliances like they used to, do they?  I've been dealing with a water heater issue last week, and someone came out and looked at it.  It was puzzling, cause everything looked Ok on it, but the pilot light kept going out.  My brother bought it a few years ago, so it's fairly new, and it's a good quality one, but it has given me problems this year and last.  With the help of J. and my son, they figured it out, and I hope the pilot light continues to stay on.  Appliances just don't last as long as they did when our parents were homeowners.  J. was here for a couple days trying to fix the water heater, and we talked about how different things were for our parents back then, and how today you have to replace appliances periodically.  He went on to tell me that his mom had her water heater for 40 years.  And he remembers his mom's vintage pink washer and dryer that she had her whole life!

I bought these earrings at K's Boutique for the fundraiser dinner.  I thought they were so unique, pretty, and feminine.  It's nice to see women dress feminine every now and then.

It rained yesterday and today!  It will be good for the plants and flowers to soak up all that rain for Spring.

Sometimes I'll make a dish with noodles and alfredo sauce, and this time I added Dickey's sausages.  It was delicious.  We used to go to Dickey's Barbecue Pit, and now they sell the sausages at the stores.

Well, I'm getting ready to go see my little ones, so I will be back when I'm back.  I don't usually like to travel, but after the water heater ordeal, I welcome this trip, and will take it slow on the roads.  It should be a fun little trip.

Here is a Spring rose just for you.

Sheri it is so true about the modern day appliances...as the saying goes "The old mare ain't what she used to be" has become my saying as things don't last and good service can be harder to find. Good that you have family that can work on your water heater. Hope it stays working well now. Please have a safe trip to see your sweeties...will be praying for traveling mercies. The rose is absolutely gorgeous. Makes me want to go find a new one to plant in my garden.
Well take care friend and enjoy your visit with family. Hugs!

Enjoy your time with family.

Love those pretty earrings! I am an earrings person. I wear earrings everyday! I feel naked without them.
Oh your granddaughters are so cute and very photogenic.
I have pink roses like yours - only I cut them down to bare root and they haven’t bloomed yet. I do that every few years.
Your sausages and Alfred look delicious. Have fun on your little road trip! Can’t wait to hear all about it when you return. 🌹

I have an old refrigerator in Florida and I am afraid to replace it. It is 17 years old. The new one I bought in Pa only lasted 8 years... Pretty earrings.

Safe Travels my dear friend. I will be praying for you.

And you are right, appliances do not last like they used too... my friend just purchased a washing machine, it was on the fritz in one week!!! Geez!!

The rose is absolutely gorgeous; I especially love the color. What a great idea to add sausage to alfredo, I am going to do it!! Yes, things are now made to replace, not to fix, I hope you have a wonderful visit. P.S. I would love all my appliances to be pink!!!

That rose is gorgeous! Enjoy your adventure to visit your little ones. And yes, they just don't make things to last any longer. Ugh!

I would so love that pink kitchen, I think about my mom and grandma's kitchens, they were nothing like these elegant pieces. Those little girls are adorable.

I’m glad you had help figuring out the water heater issue, and I hope it keeps running smoothly for you now. Those earrings are gorgeous, by the way. And I love that quote.

I agree - in fact I had a printer once that lasted years and years and years. When I did have to buy a new one - it was all plastic. The gal at the store said they make things cheaper so that we will have to buy things more often. Making them good makes them lose money!
I love the earrings - they go low don't they? Pretty. I do not wear earrings.
Never heard of Dicky's sausage but it looked good.
It rained here today too. We need it.
Your cups do look authentic.
I know you can't wait for your trip and to see all the girls! I know you will be careful and I will pray for travel mercies.
Glad you got your hot water tank fixed.
I love that rose and it's color.

I am so excited for you to take your trip...I know you are going to come back with some awesome photos of the girls and all the things on the agenda. You are so right Sheri..appliances are not what they once were. Daughter (shanda) purchased a new fridge last year and it was name brand. They have had to have someone out there at least 6 times already...those things are not cheap either and for the price, you would expect it to last a long time with no problems. I love the pink washer and dryer...I don't think I remember the age of the pink appliances. When we got married, the colors of gold and green were the "In Thing!" lol.. have a safe trip....

Hello my dear Sheri. I hope you have a WONDERFUL trip. How wonderful it will be to see the girls. They are so adorable (the big girls, too). I know what you mean about appliances not being made like they used to be made. I sure hope the water heater is okay now. I will look forward to your posts about your visit! Hugs. Susan

What a delightful post, with a peek into your cupboard, a look at your cute littles, a delicious looking dinner -- and oh, how beautiful those earrings are. I bought my appliances in 1995 and they lasted till about 2020. (My stove died around then too and was original to the house -- 1962!) I can't count on that anymore!

Sounds like that water heater gave you a headache!
Glad you got it figured out though.
Those earrings are beautiful, and I love the spring vibes with the rain and the rose! 🌹

Safe travels, hope the trip is fun and relaxing!

Thank you very much Sheri for the rose, you cheered me up today. I'll make a sausage dish tomorrow for a quick dinner, thanks for the tip. In Poland there were no pink vintage appliances, it's true that they used to be more durable, although no one talked about ecology. Hugs.

Wow, that pink rose is beautiful, Sheri. We recently had to replace our 21 year old refrigerator, and I was sorry to see it go. In the past, we could have had someone come and fix its minor problem, but not these days. We know our new one will not last, more's the pity. I often think about the fact that mankind has had the ability to make appliances which last a lifetime, but now choose not to do so. It is very wasteful, and bad for the environment. Your white flower earrings are gorgeous, and I know you will love wearing them. Have a wonderful time visiting the little ones, who are growing so fast. Have a good week.

A pink washer and dryer? Yikes! I would have been hoping they would go out, but of course, they would last forever. We have been here 5 years now and have yet to replace anything, but I am sure the day is coming. Enjoy your trip!

I happened to think the same thing a few days ago. Household appliances used to last much longer and, for the most part, looked nicer.

It's good that you'll be with your grandchildren for a while now. I wish you a wonderful time.
