Thinking Of The Pope

You know, I love the home, and all that it gives us....shelter, warmth, stability, and calm.  But as much as I love home, I do like to get out almost every day, even in the harshest weather, just to see the sights, do a little shopping, visit some places of nature, and maybe bring back home a goody or two.  When I was picking out the donuts I wanted, the lady next to me said, "have a blessed day."  It seems to be the phrase people use up here, and it's very kind.

The sun has melted much of our snow, and we're not expected any more snow and rain until March.

K's Boutique has a display of dolls in her window.

Here are some pictures of unusual things I came across in town.  Strangely enough, this road leads you to the cemetery.

The creek is filled more than I've ever seen it.

Easter is in about eight weeks, and around this time, everything is Purple at my house.  When I was at the antique shop, I found this pretty tea cup saucer with purple flowers.  Of course, I couldn't resist, and will use it in my Easter decor.  The bottom has Germany written on it.

My son made another batch of croissants.  He's trying to master this recipe, and let me tell you, I think he figured it out.  They were scrumptious with butter and grape spread.

Don't live in this fear. 😱

I am just getting ready to take a trip to my hometown.  The thing is, it's three hours, and I don't want to drive.  I wish there was a magic carpet ride to get me there.

I haven't shared a poem in a long time, so here ya go.....

May we raise children

who love the unloved things -

the dandelion, the

worms & spiderlings.

Children who sense

the rose needs the thorn

& run into rainswept days

the same way they

turn towards sun....

And when they're grown &

someone has to speak for those

who have no voice

may they draw upon that

wilder bond, those days of

tending tender things

and be the ones.

~Nicolette Sowder

I loved this picture for many reasons, so wanted to share it.  It was at Charlotte's Baptism.

I've been thinking of the Pope, who is in critical condition and was hospitalized with a lung infection and then developed pneumonia.  Pope Francis shares message after a night in the hospital: "Thank you for your closeness."  He needs our prayers right now.

I love the poem! It is not only beautiful, but wisely true! Post all your decorations when you are done!! I just love looking at them, and also like to copy them and use them for inspiration. You know, I bought the purple mug and flowers at the Dollar General. I love your little bunny with the red felt roses. Charlotte is so adorable and joyful! How wild about the Erie cemetery! I really like the tiny pink house; do you know what it is for? it would be a good playhouse. did you teach your son to cook, or did he want to learn when he was older?

Wow you have a lot of good things in here.
I didn't know the Pope was so sick. I pray he gets well.
I love your header with the Easter bunny.
Charlotte's Baptism - she is so cute.
I think the croissants came out just beautiful! And the jelly looked good too.
Loved the poem - so true about the children.
I agree the biggest thing we fear is fear itself of what people think of us. I wish I didn't care so much myself.
Those donuts looked so yummy.
You know I love my home and stay there a lot - but I do like go out and investigate too. I think we are similar there.
The doll looked like my old Chatty Cathy doll.
The horse has a beautiful color of red.
So, I wish for you travel mercies to your hometown.
I hope you have a great time.

Sheri your picture of your granddaughter is lovely and I know you will treasure it. I thought of my mom when I read about your love for purple. It was a favorite color and the plate would have certainly been a pick of hers (and mine too). Pretty dishes are a weakness for me. Have a safe trip when you travel to your hometown. Will be praying for you. I used to like to drive but not so much anymore. The doll in the window reminds me of the toy store attached to the old Ben Franklin in my hometown when I was a child. It was especially captivating at Christmas! Well take care friend and yes may we all pray for the pope. Hugs!

Oh Sheri what a heartfelt post - I too wish I could take a magic carpet ride instead of driving in traffic. Better yet, I wish I could just snap my fingers or twitch my nose to travel. Haha!
Home truly is the best place to be. Charlotte sure is a cutie and looks happy on her baptism day. All the photos are wonderful. Thanks for sharing your finds, either way us.

I pray for the Pope’s restored health if that is the Fathers will but if it is his time, I pray for a peaceful release from this earthly life, with dignity and grace.

Have a wonderful “homecoming”
🌹 Debby

Ah, I love your purple decor every year in Lent. That plate is so beautiful. What big piles of snow, you had quite a dump of it recently, as did my daughter. Well that is eerie that Erie St leads to the cemetery :) Charlotte is the prettiest little Christening girl I ever did see, God bless her. And I too am praying for the Holy Father. He has been a good pope and his mind is still very alert. Thank you for posting.

Such a beautiful post- I love the poem and all your photos from your area. My favorite is that special purple saucer - it looks wonderful under the candle. Such a good idea. I have a saucer or two that I broke the tea cup. I never thought of using them under a candle. Great idea!- Thanks.

How can one not have a blessed day when you start it with donuts?!?! Things sounds pretty bleak for the pope, such a shame to see this happen.

I love that you decorate using the color purple for Easter. I will be decorating for Easter on Saturday. I have my Lent study ready to start Ash Wednesday, it is another from Bishop Barron.
I LOVE all the photos today.
I am praying with you.

Sheri...you remind me so much of myself...I like to get out as well and I like to explore new shops, new places and all kinds of new things. Hard to believe that Easter will be here in no time at all...I do like your purple dish...perfect for a decorative setting. I guess it's time to start putting out a few Easter items. Looks like to me that the croissants have been perfected. They are so pretty and I know they taste so good. Glad you are planning on taking a trip...just think of all the neat things you will see on the drive...it will be wonderful...

You have some gorgeous photos here from your out-and-about times. And really love those places with the violets. I will take down Valentines this week and inch in a little spring, even though we've still a lot of snow. I've been thinking about the pope often too.
