Thinking Of The Pope

You know, I love the home, and all that it gives us....shelter, warmth, stability, and calm.  But as much as I love home, I do like to get out almost every day, even in the harshest weather, just to see the sights, do a little shopping, visit some places of nature, and maybe bring back home a goody or two.  When I was picking out the donuts I wanted, the lady next to me said, "have a blessed day."  It seems to be the phrase people use up here, and it's very kind.

The sun has melted much of our snow, and we're not expected any more snow and rain until March.

K's Boutique has a display of dolls in her window.

Here are some pictures of unusual things I came across in town.  Strangely enough, this road leads you to the cemetery.

The creek is filled more than I've ever seen it.

Easter is in about eight weeks, and around this time, everything is Purple at my house.  When I was at the antique shop, I found this pretty tea cup saucer with purple flowers.  Of course, I couldn't resist, and will use it in my Easter decor.  The bottom has Germany written on it.

My son made another batch of croissants.  He's trying to master this recipe, and let me tell you, I think he figured it out.  They were scrumptious with butter and grape spread.

Don't live in this fear. 😱

I am just getting ready to take a trip to my hometown.  The thing is, it's three hours, and I don't want to drive.  I wish there was a magic carpet ride to get me there.

I haven't shared a poem in a long time, so here ya go.....

May we raise children

who love the unloved things -

the dandelion, the

worms & spiderlings.

Children who sense

the rose needs the thorn

& run into rainswept days

the same way they

turn towards sun....

And when they're grown &

someone has to speak for those

who have no voice

may they draw upon that

wilder bond, those days of

tending tender things

and be the ones.

I loved this picture for many reasons, so wanted to share it.  It was at Charlotte's Baptism.

I've been thinking of the Pope, who is in critical condition and was hospitalized with a lung infection and then developed pneumonia.  Pope Francis shares message after a night in the hospital: "Thank you for your closeness."  He needs our prayers right now.

Feeling February

February has brought more snow to my area, and with last week's snow and the week before that, we got about 2 feet!  This time, it rained the day after, so the snow melted quickly, and that made it easier to get out.  It's better to have a slushy snow than a hard icy snow, so I was thankful for the rain.  In addition to shoveling, the first thing I always do is scrape the snow off the heaters outside.  My neighbor, Lisa, was outside taking care of her house as well, and we had a nice chat.  She has really helped me these past few years with tips on this mountain living.

Aren't these the cutest Valentine outfits?

There's just something about a simple batch of peanut butter cookies.

Some pictures in town when we had a heavy snow.

Pizza is so good on a snowy day.

Our Charlotte got Baptized this last weekend.  Jess needed her Baptism certificate and all her Holy Sacraments, and asked if I had them for her and Nel.  With all the moves I've made, I have kept those important papers intact and sent them to her right away through e-mail.  So, my dear Charlotte was Baptized, and I am pleased.

Came across this and loved it.

I thought about it for a moment, and still remember the phone number we had growing up.  My dad worked for the phone company, so it was an easy one to remember. ; )

Have a terrific week.  Here, I'm just feeling February.  And enjoying cups of green tea. 💚

Bird Tracks In The Snow

Well, I know many people can't wait for Spring's arrival when they have had enough of winter's frosty chill, but here we really aren't close to winter ending, and have a couple more months of it, as it has been known to snow even until April here.  And that's Ok with me, because you see, I need to live in all the seasons.  I would not like having sunshine all throughout winter, but I do love it when it arrives in Spring.  I am a gal who loves it all, the rain, the wind, the sunshine, the cold, the warmth, and the snow!

We had another snowfall last week, and it was one of the bigger ones for sure.  I was out there shoveling for a time, cause that's what we have to do if we need to get out.  My neighbor has a snow blower, and he came over and helped clear the path of the cars.  It was so good of him.  There were dozens of dove on my back porch area when I opened the blinds.  I gave them some cake that I made, but it was placed on the front porch, and when I looked the next morning, it was gone, so either the birds or critters got to it.

When the sun comes out, the snow glistens and is even prettier. 🌞

When I was at the grocery store yesterday, I was talking with some gals, and one of them said it was 10 degrees that morning.  We always share stories about our snow adventures, like when I couldn't open my car door a couple days after because it turned into hard icy snow.  When it's so cold outside, I try to warm things up inside.

What fun Disney must be for the kids around Valentine's Day.

I sent all the kids the same Valentine card cause I thought it was so cute.

And homemade cards are the best.  It was red and white and glittery and so special.

My Valentine table.

And the cutest Valentine of all.

Many people have it all, but somehow they lose love along the way.

love, friends.

Happy Valentine's Day!
