I Want To Get My Ears Pierced!

Hello, and happy November!  This month is always a pleasant and soft one for me, giving thanks for all the blessings in my life.  We had some more rain, and with the rain comes no internet access.  The technician came out, and it took the whole day to fix the problem and get service back on again.  But he kept at it until it was done, what a good worker.  We are in full Autumn here in northern California, and first thing I want to show you are all the colors I am seeing around my neighborhood, and when I make my way into town.  No filters here, just straight from the camera.

A healthy meal - baked pork with lots of spices and potatoes.  Really good.  My son has taught me to use more spices in cooking.

I thought these were real because they were planted in the dirt, but after taking a closer look, they are not.

I know this sounds funky, but whenever I see a picture or plaque with a saying on it, I think it was meant for me, so it's hard not to bring such things home with me, like this glass frame I came across with such special words.  When my kids were in grade school, the Principle was not only an acquaintance, but he was a friend of the family, and I remember what he told me when I had a conversation with him one day, ~things always have a way of working out.~  I was young then, and wasn't sure about that, but looking back, I realize he was right.

There is a big craft fair going on this month, and I will be going to that.  Everything will be handmade with love and care, and I look forward to browsing through all the booths.

I was talking with Francesca on the phone this weekend, and I was telling her about the time I got my ears pierced when I was young.  I was around 12, and I told her that we didn't have the pretty, convenient earring boutiques back then like we do now, and that my mom pierced my ears at home.  First, she put ice on my earlobes for a time to make sure they were numb and I couldn't feel much.  Then, with a clean needle, she poked my ear, ouch! 😲  She did a nice job, and I had to clean and take care of them for a couple weeks after that.  I've had pierced ears ever since.

On Friday, Francesca's 7th birthday, she got her ears pierced!  This is an exciting day in a child's life, and one that will always be remembered.  She chose pretty pink earrings to wear for a while.

Do you remember the day you got your ears pierced?  Would love to hear about it.

Yes I remember! I was 11 years old and my aunt pierced my ears in her kitchen which the ice and the needle! They were jade posts. I no longer have them - have no idea what became of them.
Francesca looks cute. Mia will be next!
Love that adorable little Santa.
I was looking at the California Fall color map and this week is when the color will be more prevalent. It looks like a nice week ahead.
Have you noticed all the snow on the Mt Shasta and Mt Lassen? Always such a glorious sight to see!
Cherish this week - time goes by so fast! 🍁

Can you believe I am the only person in the world who does not have pierced ears? How did it go with Francesca? Did she cry much? I took our youngest granddaughter to get hers pierced, and it was such an exciting thing for me!! She never even flinched or anything. Our oldest was under five and she cried and cried. Your photos are gorgeous!! Especially the big yellow trees, WOW!!! You must have the most beautiful color in the entire country!

Happy for your rain and that you had such a great internet service guy. I wish I had one.
That meal looked so good - good idea about slicing the potatoes too. Thanks for the idea.
Oh, how I love the red - orange - and yellow tree color - something we do not see often enough here.
Who planted the fake flowers - they were pretty.
So, I am thinking about what is meant to be will find a way . . .
Francesca's is beautiful with her pierced earrings - just the right size for her. Glad she did so well.
I did not want my ears pierced, but when I was ten my dad wanted me to get pierced earrings. My mom took me to a doctor who did it. My dad had a friend who gave me diamond studs.

I certainly do remember...A friend of ours pierced my ears the first time, with a needle and ice. OUCH!! I would never do that now. Fransesca looks beautiful with her new earrings. I know she is thrilled...I just got my ears pierced about 9 months ago...I am very allergic to nickel and I have to be very cautious about buying earrings. for years I just wore some clip-ons. I have now worn the earrings that Sam bought for me for about 6 months..Keeping my fingers crossed. Oh my....the leaves are quite stunning all around your area. I only wish our trees looked like this. Happy Monday Sheri...have a good one.

Sheri, your lovely Autumn trees all dressed up in colors are gorgeous! My husband picked up a variety of colorful leaves and brought them inside to enjoy. We certainly have plenty. Francesca looks so cute in her new earrings! I remember some of my friends getting their ears pierced in the same manner as you! I am one of the few women that don't have pierced ears. I do enjoy wearing earrings, but they must be clip on style. Yes, I am a dinosaur! Happy November!

A nice photo, you were already wearing stylish earrings back then.
I had my ears pierced when I was 2 years old, so I can't remember.
You captured autumn in all its splendor, beautiful.

Hello Sheri, Yes, I was five years old when I got my ears pierced. I was so excited! My first pair of earrings were green emerald studs - my birthstone. Such an exciting time! Charlotte was fourteen when she chose to get her ears pierced. Francesca looks so happy and excited to have her ears pierced! The fall color is simply gorgeous where you live! Have a wonderful week.

My mother wouldn't let me get my ears pierced; so I was 28 years old when I did it. I had just had a miscarriage and wanted something to cheer me up; so the nurse my husband worked with did my ears. I love having pierced ears. i let my daughter do it about the same age as Francesca. The fall colors here in Oregon are beautiful too and I am quite enjoying them.

I didn't get my ears pierced until well into my 30s, when the two students who worked for me all but kidnapped me at lunch and took me to the jewelry store to have them done! I'm mostly glad, though these days I hardly wear or change earrings at all! Loving your fall color. Cooking with spice opens so many culinary doors! Always an adventure!

I do remember. There was a doctor's office about 6 blocks from my house that pierced ears on Tuesday nights. I remember walking there with a girlfriend and we both got our ears pierced. I was about 14. I love all the fall photos that you shared too.. Such a beautiful Time of the year.

Hello Dear Friend, oh the photos are so lovely. I do remember. It was a true treat for me from my parents to allow me to get my ears pierced. Earrings are my favorite piece of jewelry.

Breathtaking Fall photos! Like you I've got my ears pierced at about 12 years old. I went to a shop with my sister and a friend and we three did it. There was a machine to do it. Best wishes dear Sheri.

She will remember lots of things about the day she pierced such as Your Story, fingers touching her earlobes, family faces and colored leaves outdoor. Elements in a daily life of youth will get together and make a strong base to build health and happiness.

Sheri - your photos are fabulous...it looks like you have lots of lovely colors remaining...ours are mostly brown and gone. The pretty sugar maples have shed their beautiful leaves and now I will wait once again for next fall to enjoy them. Yes I do remember getting my ears pierced. My dad told me I had to be 18 before I could have them done and then only at the doctor's office. Had to wear cat gut (whatever that is) until they healed. Was so excited when I finally got to put in real earrings. Happy 7th birthday to Francesca...she looks so lovely with her ears done. Bet grandma may be finding a Christmas gift to give with this new change in her life. :)!! Have a lovely day. Hugs!

Loved your story! Happy for Francesca! She's SO pretty!
I was 15 when I got mine done. Mom to both myself and Ruth Ann to a doctor's office to get them done. Alcohol and turning the gold studs often until healed...we followed his instructions and never got infected....thank goodness. A friend of mine wasn't so lucky.
hugs

I love all the beautiful leaves, specially that second shot. I do not remember when I got my ears pierced, but I think after I got married.

Those foliage photos are so vibrant! Also love that last picture, I bet you wish you still had those earrings, or perhaps you do?

For some reason I can't remember the first time..I must have been about 12, but my memory eludes me. I do remember the second time, and I was in my twenties. Love your fall leaves...beautiful!! Francesca is a lovely young lady and I bet she is absolutely thrilled with her new earrings. Have a wonderful week!

Looks like you’re having a sweet month Sheri and I enjoyed reading all about it. I’m glad you got your internet service back. Your little snowman and pretty flower-framed tile are charming. Your Fall photos are incredible, and oh my, the food again. You give me some great ideas. I am a big believer in things working out. We might not understand at the time but looking back it becomes clearer. I have never had my ears pierced. My mother finally did in her 50s. I think I won’t bother now at 74 but I do love pretty earrings. Happy Birthday Francesca and how pretty she looks in hers, and that’s a great photo of you in yours. Have a wonderful weekend!
