Salem, Massachusetts

Jess turned 40 this year, and she wanted to do something fun and interesting for her special day, so her family and Nel's family and Nel's sister-in-law's family all traveled to Salem, Massachusetts.  They had a great time exploring, and I wanted to share with you some pictures of her journey to Salem, a place where she's always wanted to visit.

How exciting it was for the girls to go into the cockpit since it was Charlotte's first flight.

Brian took this picture of an extraordinary spider web!

One of Jess' favorite activities was going apple picking at a nearby farm.🍎🍏  Here are the girls burying themselves in a corn kernel "beach."

One night, they came across this Speakeasy bar that had a hidden bookshelf door.

This is all of them at a central park in Salem, and one of the film locations of Hocus Pocus.

The most charming houses they saw, and this delightful purple pumpkin sat on the railing of one of the houses.

Francesca and Mia collected leaves in the stroller.

This white house is another Hocus Pocus sight - Allison's House.

They had a fantastic time on their trip - had a wonderful dinner one night, and went on a ghost tour.

Dang, I was almost done with my comment and I lost it!
Great that the family can explore new places and things together. That was a real spider he found - would scare me to death.
I think that was so cute the girls were able to sit in the cockpit. Also cool to see some Hocus Pocus set sites. I love to go to apple orchards myself. I LOVE that purple pumpkin. Did they see any ghosts on the tour? LOL
Looked like a lot of fun!

What a very special trip for Jess. I would love to visit in that area someday. I went back and looked at each photo at least a couple of times. they are all great...from the girls sitting in the cockpit, to the amazing spider web! This looks like a beautiful place to be right now, especially with all the halloween themes all around. Yay! I am happy you shared this today.

They couldn't have chosen a better time to visit! Wow, the last photo is awesome; is it in front of a restaurant? The corn kernel shot is so joyful, and this is a wonderful shot of the cockpit! The purple chair pic is SO cute!!! That one may be my favorite. Eeeww, there is even a spider inside the web!

This is a great way to celebrate Jess’s birthday. Looks like a great time was had by all. Sweet photos, especially of the little ones, and I saw a place I have never been to. That’s spider web, amazing, and fits right in with visiting Salem and the time of year :) It is prize-worthy photo! Thank you very much for sharing their photos Sheri, a real treat to see. Happy week to you my friend.

Firstly, Happy Birthday to Jess. It’s wonderful they were able to visit Salem. Really nice photos of their family. Looks beautiful there and this is a nice time to see that area with the changing colors on the trees.!I’ve never seen the movie. The only thing I know about Salem are the witch trials. I actually had ancestors who were accused of witchcraft. I wrote about it on my Genealogy blog.

I live in the town next door. I drive through Salem on my way to and from work and also when I go to visit my grandchildren. In fact, I pretty much have to drive through Salem to go anyplace. I'm glad that your family enjoyed themselves. Honestly, it's not my favorite place in September and October. The numbers of visitors is just staggering. If I were going to visit I would go in August.

What a fun trip! I have been in Salem, but not at this time of year. Oh a speakeasy too! I recently went to a speakeasy with a friend. The door said "janitor", but a little window opened up and we had to give the password to get in. Did you know during Prohibition alcohol was served in teacups in Speakeasies?
