Fundraiser Dinner

When my dad passed away many years ago, our family set up a fund to provide clothing for children in the school district.  With the help of the community, organizations, and so many special people, it has grown substantially, from just 10 children to over 500.  Every year, they have the shopping spree for the kids, who get new clothes and shoes and backpacks for the school year.  And every Spring they have the fundraiser dinner.  This year the hall was packed, and back in my hometown, I got to see all my family, my extended family, and so many dear friends from high school.  It was a great time.  I just got home, and am resting up, but this is a picture of me and the girls at the dinner.   Have a splendid week, and I'll share more later.

Distinguished Robin

I had a phone appointment last week, and I happened to get a good and honest and helpful representative.  It was the kind of appointment that had you answering many questions, with names and dates that go back to the early years.  So, while I am gathering up what is needed, this will be a shorter post filled with nature and a few pictures and quotes, and hopefully one of them will put a smile on your face.  It was sunny all week, and the Robins are showing their pretty coats of orange on my lawn.  One sat still when I got in my car, and just stayed on a tree stump for a few moments.  I call them brave birds, as they don't scare too easily, or fly away like the other birds.  I've been seeing these red bushes in the neighborhoods, and not sure what they are, but so pretty.  And a visit to the coffee shop to get my favorite carrot muffin.

A Message To My Granddaughters

Mia got a hug from fairy godmother at the Disneyland parade.

My son is a good cook, and this week he made a delicious shrimp dish with orange sauce.

We had another snowfall!  It was sunny for a few days, then rain, then snow.  My poor car was covered, and I just got a new starter.  Right away, I went outside and scraped the snow off my engine haha.

I kept hearing thumps on the roof.  I thought it was a critter - it was snow!

There's nothing better to put in our oatmeal than blueberries and bananas, except for maybe pecans, which I was out of.  But this was nice too.

Tacos are a fav in our family, and I made some this week with ground beef, seasonings, onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, cheese, and topped them with ranch dressing.  Have you ever had orange bell peppers?  I've had green, red, yellow, but never orange.  The tacos were excellent.

I love seeing the carousel music box on my dresser when I pass by that Francesca gave me.

And the dear music box that Mia gave me.  They seem to go well with my Spring decor.

I talked with my sister on the phone for a long time.  It's always good to catch up with her.  We're so different, yet so alike in many ways.

Here are some recent pics of the kids.  In the last few years, I have been blessed with three granddaughters, Francesca, Mia, and Charlotte.  They grow up so fast, and I can't wait to see them real soon.  This is a message I want to send them, and I hope they always remember it.

Listen to the mustn'ts, child.

Listen to the don'ts.

Listen to the shouldn'ts,

The impossibles,

The won'ts.

Listen to the never haves,

Then listen close to me.

Anything can happen, child.

Anything can be.

Pink Pleasure

Well, I told you that we could get snow here up until April....and we did!  We got rain and thunder on Wednesday.  It was so loud that at one point it made me jump.  Then, a couple days later, we had a snowfall, and it was a good amount.

This time, it was clumpy snow, which is a heavy wet snow after a Spring storm.

My neighbor's bushes looked so pretty dressed in white.

I had to dig my angel out, and my mini rose bushes got covered as well.

This may be the last snow, but then again, who knows up here in the mountains?

My son treated me to a Mexican feast.  Wasn't that nice?  There was Shrimp Ranchero, steak tacos, chicken tacos, beans and rice, and chips and salsa.  Although some of it was eaten before I took the picture.

I'm almost done with the goody bags for the kids.  I could keep filling them, as I've enjoyed finding all these treats, but all these little things are adding up.  Aren't these the cutest braided hair extensions for a little girl?

I took down all the Purple, and have replaced it with some Pink for Spring.

Charlotte's seven month photo.  I just love her sweet smile.

The first pink blossom tree at my neighbor's house.

After the snow, the sun came out, and it felt so nice and warm out.

I baked a rainbow cake.

Oh, and I had to get a new starter for the car.  I was at the grocery store when it died on me.  I was hoping it was just the battery, but turns out I needed a new starter.  An old man tried to jump start it, but that didn't work, so it was towed to the automotive shop.  My neighbor drove me to the shop when it was finished.  Lots of help that day....but that's what we're supposed to do, if we can.  It came at a bad time, when I'm just getting ready for my trip, but my car runs nicely now, and it's been loyal to me for so many years.  Reminds me of an episode on Gilmore Girls where Lorelai's jeep breaks down, so she tries to buy a new car, but discovers that she doesn't like any car but her beloved jeep.  So, she ends up installing a new engine in her old car.  I can relate.

Aside from the snow, Spring has arrived.

Have a good week.
