Homework Assignment - Take A Walk!

One day, when I was holding baby Charlotte on the couch, I looked over and saw Jess helping Francesca with her homework for the day.  I actually met Francesca's teacher while I visited, and she's nice and so good to Francesca.  I was surprised that they had homework at such a young age.  It made me think about all the days I spent helping my own kids with their homework during the school years.

So, the last homework assignment for that day was to take a walk!  A smart and wise teacher I thought to ask the students to do this.  So, come along on our walk in Jess'  neighborhood to see some of the things we noticed.  Francesca got on her bike and rode slowly with us.

It was getting chilly, so Jess wanted to cover the baby's head with a beanie that uncle b. bought for her.

These purple flowers were beautiful.  Not sure what they were, but we noticed them right away.

We saw rose bushes with a combination of red and white roses.

I think this was a lilac bush?

Jess lives right next to a trail, and there are bunnies in her neighborhood often.  We didn't see any bunnies, but nature always provides a red rose for me.

Now, around the block and on our way back, there was a hill that we had to walk down.  It was either me or Jess sprinting after Francesca on her bike down the hill, and Jess is more steady on her feet than I am, so off she went, while I slowly walked down with the baby haha.

It was such a pleasant walk, and it gave us a chance to spend some time outdoors before dinner.

You know, I appreciate teachers very much, but I believe that mothers are the most valued teachers of all.

Such a lovely post! I was a teacher and never thought to assign a walk. Children and families are so stressed, I love the idea to assign something the family can do together and enjoy nature.

So is of course your bonus of a perfect red rose.

Mothers are indeed the best teachers, Sheri! Daddy are as well. What a great teacher to encourage her students to be outside. I love seeing our neighbors playing outside. What pretty roses you saw. Many lovely blooms in Jess' neighborhood. I spent the afternoon pulling up annuals that were zapped by our heavy freeze last evening, so it was nice to see some color. Have a great week!

Another beautiful post - I loved that red rose you found!
Francessca is really a girly girl - in all pink and Mickey Mouse - I love Mickey too.
And the baby is so sweet - probably doesn't even realize she is alive at this point.
I think those were lilac bushes.
And did the purple flowers have a tiny white flower growing out of it? Unique. Not sure what is was either.
And I totally love teachers - and yes MOMS are some of the BEST teachers too!

Mom's are for sure great teachers.
What a special teacher that would include a walk at the end of the lesson.
Your walk was lovely with the roses and other things along the way. I was trying to figure out what the "lilac" was as I don't think lilacs grow in S.California. But not sure! Have a great week.

Sheri, this did make me think back to all those years of homework that "we" were assigned when our kids were in school. Charlotte is darling in her orange beanie! I do love the teacher's last assignment. I bet your granddaughters will all love flowers as much as you do. And I even think of you when I see red roses!

It is so lovely to live in this natural and calmed área, near the nature, with flowers, and trees all around. And the family can walk feeling good, with happiness and peace of mind.

Francesca looks so sweet in her photos. Always surprised me about the homework also and remember from son’s time at school, how heavy his backpack was. That is a great homework assignment from Francesca’s teacher, brilliant, and you got to enjoy it with her. How special is that? So sweet seeing Charlotte in her beanie. Those purple flowers are gorgeous, I remember them when we lived in California but those were the red ones, bougainvillea? The roses look gorgeous, and the lilacs! I loved that print at the end also. Thank you for sharing your walk, I had such a good time reading your post.

Love this homework assignment, Sheri, and all the sweet photos on your walk. Francesca is so cute in her pink outfit on her pink bike. I do agree that teachers should be so appreciated, and Mothers are the most important teachers. Grandmothers, too! It takes a village...So nice to see all the beautiful blooms and the sweet little baby sleeping so peacefully through it all. Sending hugs xo Karen

Walks are the best! Great time for chatting with loved ones or if you happen to be by yourself, it's a great time for clearing your head. Plus, it's great exercise.

Mothers are oftentimes the unspoken heroes of our society. With tday's climate if I were a young mother, I think I would homeschool.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday this week!

Oh my it looks like the weather and flowers were so lovely where your daughter lives. I think the teacher is a very good one - what better way to learn about nature and enjoying some good exercise! What a lovely painting by Claudia Tremblay. Thanks for sharing that wonderful day and walk. Hugs!
