Apples From The Apple Tree

This was a busy week with a few things to show and tell.  The landscaper came by and blew, raked, and gathered all the leaves in the front yard and hauled them away.  There was a ton of them.  His trailer was filled when he was finished.

Then the rain came after and washed all the dust and the walkways clean.

Francesca has a small Christmas tree in her bedroom, and it is decorated with Pink ornaments.  When I found this cute cloth doll, I thought it would be a nice addition to her tree.

My brother-in-law and sister-in-law came into town.  She had to pick up her car at the shop, and my brother-in-law stopped by for a visit in the morning.  I made him a cup of coffee and a slice of pecan pie.  My son bought it at Sprouts, and it was literally the best pecan pie that I've ever had.

They brought me lots of goodies.....a turkey, bag of potatoes, rolls, cranberry sauce, apple pie, coffee, and much more.  Also, some home grown tomatoes from their garden, and apples from their apple tree.

My sister-in-law made some homemade fudge and spice muffins.  I haven't had fudge in a long time, and it was Yummy.

I cooked some chicken apple sausages and made a sandwich with bakery rolls, along with catsup, mustard, tomatoes, and onions.  So good.

I made some French onion dip and celery sticks.

The November crows have been coming around lately.

On Thursday morning, I went to the laundry room to start doing laundry for the day, opened up the blinds, and to my surprise there was a DEER right in front of the window.  I couldn't believe it!

Then, I saw another one right beside the car.  They walked passed my house and over my neighbor's fence and were on their way.

Here's some of my Christmas decor so far.  You've seen many of the items a dozen times, but every year I rearrange and put things in different places.  I have given away so much stuff, but these are the things I will always keep.  There are the frosty people on my mantel, the snow globes, my fun elves, my mom's ceramic box that she had in her kitchen for years, and my son's glittery tree he made when he was a child.

And Nel bought a couple new Nutcrackers this year.  Aren't they the cutest things?

My son took this road picture on his drive to the city.  The Autumn trees are still lingering.

I want to show you the wonderful cake Jess made for Francesca.

Here's a little about it.  The white "fur" was made by using a decorating tip that looks like fur or grass.  It's frosting.  It came out in really small spots, so it took a long time to cover the whole cake.  She got the idea from a Pinterest doggy cake, and it was fun for her to do something creative since she doesn't have time for creative things these days.

And lastly, Jess said that Charlotte is making the funniest faces lately, and I cracked up when she sent me this picture.

Happy Thanksgiving, my dears.

love, ~Sheri

Oh my goodness - I am the first one!
I have lots to comment too.
Where did you find that man to come and rake and haul - it must have been expensive - wish we had it when we owned our house. It was such a job for my husband.
I LOVE PECAN PIE AND WE HAVE A SPROUTS HERE!
How sweet they bought you the fixings for a complete turkey dinner - turkey, potatoes, pie, coffee, tomatoes, and apples.
Spice muffins and fudge - yum.
Your meal looked good - the sausage sandwich in that roll - looks like something we used to eat in Chicago.
Why do you think the crows are there?
What a nice collection of Nutcrackers - I love that they are so different then the regular soldier.
Your decorations are so sweet - I remember some of them - nice tradition - love frosty.
The deer outside are soooooooooooooo cool. The poor things are running out of places to live and hide here. There is building everywhere going on. Sad.
And last but not least - the baby is adorable.
Have a great Thanksgiving.

The Nutcrackers are adorable, really decorative. The Cake that Jess made looks amazing, like from a bakery.
Happy Thanksgiving Sheri

Ah Sheri - looks like your brother in law and sister in law outdid themselves with Thanksgiving goodies. Your sandwich looks so delicious. Are not the deer just the most beautiful sweet animals. We have so many around our place...they just graze in the fields with the cattle. When I was young growing up (many moons ago) we rarely saw them. Now they are everywhere and we must be extremely careful to not hit them. Especially during mating and hunting season they are running wild. Always glad when that season ends. Wow the cake is gorgeous...your daughter certainly had patience creating this masterpiece. As for Charlotte - seeing that picture made me smile and smile. Take care sweet friend - sending you a big hug for Thanksgiving.

Funny faces!
The cake is beautiful. It does look like a lot of work that's really worth the time.
Great crow photos. The deer are a delight to see.
The handmade tree melts the heart!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Dearest Sheri,
Those deer are quite a surprise to see that up close!
It is a shame in a way that those leaves, the nutrients for spring, get hauled off. We've never ever removed them! Look at the woods—who's raking or blowing there?
Ours just get mulched and thus become fertilizer for the lawn.
Those yellow apples look magazine worthy!
Your sister–in–love is quite talented for making such fudge and spice muffins.
And your homemade chicken apple sausages look also tasty.
Wishing you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving!
Hugs,
Mariette

So many lovely photos on your post today, dear Sheri! How lovely your in laws are to have brought you so many lovely goodies. They sound like wonderful family members. The deer right outside your window is darling--how neat to have your camera nearby to capture him! Your son's photo is gorgeous! Autumn leaves are falling like crazy here. You are lucky to have yours taken care of. Our grandson and I did our front yard this morning. I love the cake Jess made! That was a labor of love and so cute! Charlotte is just beautiful--her expression is priceless! I love Nel's nutcracker collection--so pretty! And your Christmas decor is lovely as well. We'll be putting ours out after Thanksgiving. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, my dear friend!

Oh, Charlotte has to be the cutest baby ever! That is such an infectious smile - one can't just look at that photo and not smile back. Adorable. I can tell she is growing so fast.

That cake is amazing. I've never done much in cake decorating and after watching Cake Wars on TV I think I'd like to try it on a much smaller scale. Take a class or something - just for fun.

Today we had some good wind but it was sunny and mild. I'd be in heaven, to open up my curtains and come face to face with a deer. Gosh it makes me want to hug and kiss them like I do my dog. Such sweet faces.

I also like birds and those crows, along with Ravens are a favorite of mine. But they do scare off the other birds and tend to be bullies. I still respect their intelligence. We have some huge Ravens in my area and I just enjoy watching them. Some are the size of a small dog.

All your decorating looks so classy. I haven't decorated for Christmas yet. I won't do that until after thanksgiving. Every year I tell myself, I won't decorate as much as I usually do- then what do I do? I deck the halls. Sometimes I think there is no hope for me, when it comes to scaling down Christmas decorating.

Enjoyed your post like always. I hope you have a good week and a wonderful Thanksgiving with all the goods you were given by your family. That was so thoughtful of them to think of you.

All your goodies look so delicious! And the nutcrackers are adorable. I have been tempted to get a pink tree. Aside from the tiny one I have. The cake is awesome, and I imagine it took a long time to frost. I love your painting!

Thank you so much for your wonderful stories.
Happiness seems like building blocks that are well-balanced piled up. I feel every member of your family have piled up her/his block. Apples, cake, small doll, smile and all other things you have got on that day are the precious blocks to be put on another one with gratitude, consideration and innocent joy.

And the cake Jess made is adorable and so are the pix of the girls. I love that you saw the deer -- aren't they wonderful? And that your leaves are under control. Your Christmas decorations are lovely. I really like the sweet box with the children on it and the pink nutcracker people (and the little gift you have for Francesca, too). Will you spend TG with any family? I hope so! I'm hoping to find a couple of small snow globes for the boys -- they just love mine!Your elves ake mee smile (especially Pinnochio) and your mantel so lovely! Happy Thanksgiving, Sheri!

Dear Sheri, such a nice post! First of all, love that your bro and sis-in-law brought you all the Thanksgiving goodies. That is so thoughtful of them. Glad you didn't have to rake up all those leaves, too. I raked my lawn and was in pain for two days afterwards. Your sandwich and the fudge looks really good and now I am hungry :) I love your holiday decorations and that they are sentimental keepsakes. The little box that was your Mom's is so special. The snow globes are so pretty and I love how you decorated your mantel. The little doll for Francesca is sweet. How magical it must have been to see the deer right out your window. I like crows, too. I have ravens this year. I've read that crows and ravens are the most intelligent birds. The cake for Francesca turned out so cute. Jess has some real talent there! And that precious baby must fill your heart with so much joy. Happy Thanksgiving, dear Sheri. x K
