Kona, Hawaii

I thought I'd share Jess' Hawaii trip with you now rather than later, as school has already started for some, and Summer will be coming to an end soon.  They visited Kona, on the big island of Hawaii.  It was a long flight, but how fun for Francesca to have a window seat.

They had wonderful ocean views at dinner and breakfast.  A cinnamon roll and some Kona coffee.

They visited this Catholic Church, and it had a really cool design with the sides of the church opening up to the outside.

Brian took Francesca out on a Kayak!

Matching dresses at the Luau.

Jess thought this coffee drip contraption was so cool.

She loved this sign.

Brian took this photo of the beautiful rainbow.

This is Akaka Falls on the other side of the island near Hilo.  Jess said it felt like they were in Jurassic Park.

Akaka Falls.  They drove by Mauna Kea, a dormant volcano.

A delightful sign along the way.

What a neat looking twisted tree.  Maybe the Banyan Tree?

They had a fun and memorable trip in Kona, Hawaii.

Dearest Sheri,
Yes, it certainly is a long flight—400 miles farther than flying to Amsterdam from Atlanta... But we enjoyed our Hawaii trip equally well. Though we flew to Honolulu and have not visited the other islands.
The Catholic Church resembles the architecture of Indonesian Churches.
How precious that 'double' rainbow is!
Hugs,
Mariette

Brings back memories - we went there a year ago last July. It was beautiful and so relaxing compared to Oahu. Different things for different people.
Loved the Kona coffee and cinnamon roll. I learned to love the acai bowls there and have tried some here - but not quite the same as there - the fruit is so much fresher.
Love the matching dresses - how sweet. The rainbow. The sun shine. The Banyan tree. I didn't see the church they did or the coffee pot - but it was interesting.
I think that is wonderful trip for the family.

Hawaii certainly is the best place on Earth to experience the wonder of rainbows.

Oh my, Jess and her family did have a wonderful trip to Hawaii. It looks like they saw all the incredible sights, a long waterfall, volcano, beautiful beaches and ocean views. Kona coffee makes it perfect. Yes I think that might be a banyan tree. We see similar ones in the tropics. Thank you for sharing, dear Sheri

Sheri what a lovely array of photos your daughter took. Hawaii looks absolutely divine. Have you ever been there? I have not, but my parents and brother and sister-in-law got to enjoy this lovely state. Maybe someday. It is a fourteen hour flight for us. Not sure I would enjoy that much air time. Have a great week friend and thank you for sharing Jess' memorable trip. Hugs!

Such beautiful photos of the sweet little family's trip, Sheri! Love the matching dresses for the luau and the amazing rainbow! Looks like they had a great time. Francesca is growing so fast and such a beautiful little girl, like her Mom and Grandmom. My daughter and son-in-law and my little grandson are looking into moving to the big Island in a couple of years when my SIL retires from the Fire Department. I wish I could be happy about it, but my heart is heavy. They are looking at the Hilo area and traveling there soon to possibly buy some land. I need to try to be happy for them and this post has helped me. Sending hugs xo K
