You Know You Have A Treasured Friend When

Right before Easter, I took a road trip to see my two dear friends.  I traveled to my home town, and got to spend some time with them.

The hotel I stay at from time to time is very nice, and kind of expensive, but they make my stay comfortable and greet me every time I visit.  The rooms have a retro 50's vibe to them, and are clean and charming.

There were rocks in the front entrance of the hotel that guests have painted and placed there.

My favorite was the rock with one special word.

There was a big pot of white flowers sitting at the entrance.

But my eyes took me to these, of course, and I had to stop and gaze for a moment.

One was just starting to open and was so pretty.

Later that night, my friend, Darla, picked me up at the hotel and we met up with Dana at one of our favorite places to eat.  It has such a fun atmosphere, and it was a bit chilly that night, but we sat outside and were warmed by the heaters.  There food is always delicious, and we each had a glass of red wine to go with our meal.  Dana paid for our dinner, which was a wonderful surprise.

We talked about many things, and caught up on the happenings of each other's lives, and reminisced about the fun times we had growing up.

Afterwards, me and Darla went to Anthropologie, one of my favorite shops, and browsed around.  She was going to buy me a candle or tea cup, but there was a power outage, and the registers were down.

I remember there being a cookie place at the shopping center, and I wanted to buy a few goodies to take home.  Sure enough, it was still there, and I bought a big cookie for me and Darla, and some petite cream cheese bites of yummy to take home haha.

The next morning, I had breakfast at the hotel.  They always serve a delicious breakfast, with omelets, sausage, and bagels.  I took it to my room to eat, so I could catch up on the latest world news, which is often so tragic.  But they have really good coffee, so I enjoyed that.

I like to bring a few things home from my trips, and found this cute magnet for the fridge.

It was a pleasant trip, and I'm so glad I got to see my very close friends.  You know you have a treasured friend when they are there for you not only in the joyous times in our life, but also the wretched and painful times as well.  They have been at my side through both, and after 48 years, I hope we always remain devoted friends.  Here we are cracking up about something in a photo a few years ago.

Dearest Sheri,
What a TRUE BLESSING for having Friends and also being able to get together after 48 years!
Sure know how that feels with my Best Friend Ellie for 58 years... Sad that I no longer can travel that far for seeing her but there is Internet for seeing/speaking each other.
It is even more important for being there for one another during the valleys of our life...
You sure are three beauties or should I write 'Three Graces'?
The white pansy is sweet but even more fabulous is that pink/red rose! What a beauty. Regardless of some weather impact on their tender petals. We show the same signs that are caused by outside impacts 😉
Big hugs,
Mariette

What great photos of happy memories! You are truly to have such good friends from so long ago! Wow, your hotel sounds so special, how on earth did you find it? Eating outside by the heaters would have been such a cool adventure! Or should I say WARM adventure!

You three are lovely, both then and now. That must be very rare, to remain in close touch all this time. I'm sure it must have been a very special dinner with so much to talk about. I know it must have done your heart good, Sheri, and the little trip itself added to the pleasure.

My best friend when I was in high school lived right across the street from me. We even pretended that we were cousins. We stay in touch now on FB and still feel as if we just pick up the conversation that way but she lives a few states away and before that was an Air Force wife living all over the world so I keep hoping she'll come visit her family here sometime and we can meet up again.

Thank you for sharing this sweet reunion with us, Sher!

Such a fun trip! My hometown is 2800 miles away. We went back for the 50th H.S. reunion. Tried to catch up with classmates, but we had changed so much that it was hard.
The flowers are beautiful. The deep pink looks like it has 3 roses in one.

Aww, I am so happy you have these special friends in your life. I had 2 very close friends like you - but both have since passed away at fairly young ages just a few years ago. And it's hard to replace that type of special friendship.

The food is making me hungry...

What a treasure to have such dear friends. I love Anthropologie too. If I go in there I just love to see what's new and check the sales rack. I have found a few treasures on the sales rack. Food treats and Mexican food with friends are so special. Oh and red roses, so beautiful!

I love this post, Sherry. Friends are the family we make for ourselves, I once read and I believe it. I'm closer to several friends than some family members. What a treasure of a time for you three to get together, reminisce, play a bit and have a wonderful time filled with love and laughter. You just can't beat that.

I feel fortunate and blessed to say that I have a small handful of friends as such - who are there to listen to what I don't say.

To have a true friend is a blessing. To have three at one time is triple blessed. Such a pleasant little get away. I am ready to go someplace. Any place.
