Edinburgh

We spent the last few days of our UK summer family adventure exploring a very magical Edinburgh, Scotland. On the train from Durham, we zipped along stone viaducts past seaside villages and sprawling green pastures dotted with white and purple wildflowers.

Arriving in Edinburgh, we climbed endlessly stretching stairs into the Old City and stumbled upon Victoria Street, which is widely believed to be the inspiration for Harry Potter's Diagon Alley.

In the Princess Street Gardens, Mia made friends with the owners of an ice cream truck. We bought two cones every day before making our way through the park to admire the view of Edinburgh Castle perched atop craggy cliffs tipping toward the North Sea.

On the last day of the trip, my husband stopped in the world famous Whisky Shop and bought a "nip of the Buckie Road" (a local nickname for Aultmore single malt whiskey). Back at the hotel, we toasted to an amazing trip and many more adventures to come.

Thanks, friends, for coming along with us on our travels through London, Durham, and Edinburgh! Have you been to these cities or others you love?

Dearest Nel,
That was a very special trip and now you got fond photos and videos as memory!
Both of us have traveled in the UK but not in Scotland and we were there related to our work. Conferences and giving seminars all over England and Ireland.
It always will remain the Old World Charm!
Hugs,
Mariette

Oh, you and Mia look so happy bobbing your heads and dancing to the Scotland music. I love those colorful buildings, and Teddy with the dog statue made me laugh. So glad Mia is enjoying this travel time with her Mama. That's a great picture of you and Renecke toasting to a wonderful trip. ~mom

Nel, it's so fun seeing Endinburgh through your camera lens! We have been to these places! I recognize the stairs--so many to climb--but so, so worth it! I'm so glad Mia enjoyed treats every day. She is old enough to remember this adventure and oh so lucky.

What a cute video and I loved all your photos Sheri. I went to Edinburgh many years ago before I was married, and I loved the city. I remember touring the castle and hearing bagpipes everywhere. Thank you for bringing back so many wonderful memories with these super photos.

A great trip to a different world would bring young children vivid and abundant imaginations. I was glad to know your family fully enjoyed this trip.
