Ginormous Flag and Summery Things

Down the road, there was a huge flag hanging around the 4th of July.  I was able to take a picture of it before they took it down.  It's the biggest flag that I've seen.

It looked so nice blowing in the wind when looking down the road from a distance.

Made some pumpkin bread.

Some purple flowers outside the front of the store.  Lavender?

And some yellow ones outside the store.  Not sure what kind they are, but they are unusual and pretty.

Someone spray painted a dollar sign on the side wall of the store.  I don't know what it means, and it puzzles me.

~Dishonest money dwindles away, but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow.

Proverbs 13:11

I saw this flower pot at Rite Aid - every time I see something with ladybugs, I want to get it.  It was already on Summer clearance.

Look what visited me around the 4th of July!  She came right in my yard, on the side of my house!

I went to see the owner, a, at the antique shop, and gave her a few items she could sell.  She appreciated it, as she lost her husband recently, and is taking care of so many things right now.  Well, I gave 7 things away, so I had to treat myself and bring home something special for me, so I bought a tin of peach tea and a chocolate huckleberry bar.  They are kind of pricey, but the chocolate bar was great, and it's the best peach tea I've had - I've bought it before, and really like the taste.

Jess was getting tired of all the preservatives that are found in store-bought pie crusts and foods, so she decided to make her own mini berry pies.  Francesca helped, and they turned out nicely.

Nel is still on her journey to a far away land, which I'll tell more about later.  This is my favorite picture of Mia at the airport.

We had some breezy Summer days last week.  Still not too warm, and I've been outside working a lot, and it feels good to get things done in the yard.  Have a good week.

The mini pies looks scrumptious!
Yellow flower looks like yarrow.
Purple, there are sages and catnip that flower like that. I'm not sure if it is lavender or one of those. The peach tea, I will give that a try. Thank you for the tip

I'm so glad you enjoy working outside, Sheri. It's one of my favorite things to do. Your photos are so sweet of Francesca and those lovely pies. What a great job they did on them! The sweet deer must have been a joy to see. I'm looking forward to hearing about Nel's adventure. Your pumpkin bread sure looks good along with peach tea. Love that pretty teacup. Have a great week ahead.

Summer days that are breezy and allow for outside time are my favorites, my friend. And that flag! I almost got choked up looking at it! The pumpkin bread is calling my name. And that chocolate bar? Was it as good as it sounds? Love the precious little baker! Have a cozy afternoon out there, my friend! Hugs!

The berry pies are adorable! I thought there were no more Rite-Aids. Here, they all either closed or were bought by Walgreens. I used to love looking at their cute little home deco things, and would have bought this flower pot for sure. The dollar sign is a mystery, but it is done so artiscally! I think these pretty flowers may be lavender.

I think those mini pies look so yummy. I haven't made pie for a long time. It would be perfect for this time of year. Your pumpkin bread looks yummy too. You are thinking Fall!(-: Cooler temperatures and pumpkins! The purple flowers are lavender and the yellow ones are Yarrow. I love your new pot! I hope your daughter is having a wonderful trip.

I always enjoy your posts Sheri! Is Mia traveling with Nel?
I agree with Jess, too much of our food has preservatives, I try to make a lot of my own goodies too.
I have not had a huckleberry bar in a long time.
Love, Carla

Good morning Sheri! I believe that is lavender and the yellow flower is YARROW. We have it here in yellow, white and pink!

Your summer sounds fabulous. I love where I live where it feels like "summer camp" every day. I found yet another beautiful lake up the road from where I live, about eight miles. It is gorgeous and yesterday, I drove around, took photos and felt like I was somewhere up in the mountains. Good old Minneapolis never disappoints!

Those little pies look delicious.
How nice to take some things to the antique shop.
Huckleberry chocolate also sounds yummy.
It looks like that deer is eating your garden.
I believe the yellow flower is yarrow.
The purple flower is for sure lavender.
And that is a huge flag.

If up around your way is as nice as it was in San Diego while I was there then its great. Pumpkin bread, for some reason I always make that in the fall. Not so much other than that. However, I love it. Those spices...yum. The pies are adorable. Helping out in the kitchen is so much fun for the little ones plus its a teaching lesson. Love watching the deer when they cross through the yard, not so much with the skunks...lol

Hi Sheri, always lovely to read what is happening in your world. The flag is most impressive and Happy Fourth July, with a visit from a sweet deer. The lavender is really beautiful, but I don't recognise the yellow flower. Pumpkin bread looks so delicious, something I have never made. I think I will search for a recipe. Have a good week.

Dear Sheri - what lovely pics of summer at your home. The deer was precious...hope she comes to visit you again. They have the most peaceful faces and I never tire of seeing them. Don't you adore the fragrance of lavender?? I am not successful in growing it but I adore the smell and the gorgeous color. Hmm Huckleberry Chocolate Bar sounds delicious. How bad can a Chocolate Bar be for you when it has Huckleberry included in the ingredients!! :) Those homemade pies look so good...I think you may have the next Betty Crocker in your family. They looked very fourth of July too! Looks like your Lady Bug pot found a new home. We don't seem to see those sweet insects much here but when I do love to stop and watch them!! Wow that was certainly a large flag. Never tire of seeing it flying high. Well hope you have a delightful week friend...don't work to hard outdoors!! Hugs
