Just Because

February is a short and sweet month, and it's still very cold in the mornings, but the sun came out for a few days, so I thought I'd visit the antique/home shop.  I talked with the owner, a, for a long time.  I gave her something special that I've had for awhile, so she can either keep it or sell it in her shop.  You know, when you're my age, you don't really need all those house items any more, and we tend to get rid of things and keep only the items that are close to our hearts.  I made a day of it and went to see the Priest so he could bless the Rosaries that I have.  My friend, Holly, sent me a Rosary coming all the way from France, and can you believe it has red roses?   Jess' Valentine present came in the mail, and I loved it all.  She sent me a box of See's candy, and I can't tell you how much I crave it.   There's not one close by, and I miss going inside the store and just looking around and getting a few of my favorites.  She sent me a loaf of Brian's famous banana bread, and it's so moist and delicious that I've never had anything like it.  A sweet drawing from Francesca came with it, along with a special stuffed animal.  When Jess was little, her favorite stuffed animal at the time was Lamb Chop.  Through the years and with all the moves, she gave it away, but she found another one and sent it to me!   Nel took Mia to Disney, and the kids always have the best time there.  Jess also took a trip there with Francesca.  I cooked some veggies with butter and added pork, and poured them over pasta.  It was a simple and healthy meal.  I came across a painting, and it reminded me so much of me and my children, so I sent it to them.  Even though they are in their 30's and 40, they will always be my valentine.  I hope the February days are being good to you.  ~Sheri

Your mug is so pretty! I remember Lamb chop, and used to watch the show! I think it was Shari Lewis who created him? See's has such a fabulous reputation, I don't think I have ever tasted any. You have a lot of people who love you!

What sweet, thoughtful gifts. The rosary with red roses is beautiful. I love See's chocolates and the one near me closed early in the pandemic. I miss it too. What is your favorite? I love the California Brittle and Raspberry creams. Oh, now I want some.

That is a gorgeous rosary, What a nice friend.

The weather is changing for us; probably for you too since you're in the mountains. You might get some snow. All we get down here in the valley is cloudy cold weather. Good thing I didn't plant anything yet.

That little painting does remind me of you and your girls. How sweet.

What a great post! I am not parting with my special things quite yet, though I’m past the age my contemporaries clear out theirs. I still enjoy using many of them. That cake looks delicious! Colors of Mardi Gras!

Oh, I didn't buy the painting. I just came across it on the internet one day and passed it along to my kids on Valentine's Day. It's so lovely and the artist is very talented.

What an absolutely beautiful rosary, with red roses! Such a special gift, right on Valentines Day. I have an Irish rosary hanging near my desk, white beads each with a green shamrock, and a ST. Patrick medal. Special memories. I remember Lamb Chop, and what a beautiful knitted version. You have had a special week, including delicious banana bread. Take care dear Sheri.

Good morning dear Sheri!

That is a beautiful rose rosary! I do wish I still had the one I got for my first communion. The beads were iridescent crystals - my favorite!

Well, it's been a COLD February but I always have hope that when spring comes, our hearts will be delighted once again.

Your gifts are lovely, the foos yummy, but that picture speaks volumes and touches me deeply. I loved motherhood when my kids were small. I am blessed to be able to enjoy my young great grandsons these days. Another winter storm predicted for the Midwest midweek.

Hey Sheri, Looks like you had a great Valentines Day with awesome gifts. One of my best friends Theresa (also my boss) took me to dinner that evening, its my bday. Told my mom all my life that I was a little sweetheart, pretty sure I never got her to believe it! lol....Looks like you are keeping your days full. Snowing again, wow. We actually had it snow five times in Jan., never in all my life here in TN do I ever remember it snowing that many times. Course I am sure folks laugh at me cause I was all excited over the six inches!! I have friends up north that get tons of snow! We are heading into spring here in TN. I saw daffodils in bloom yesterday for the first time. YAY....only summer comes after that, not a fan of summer. Glad you are doing well as well as your girls and the babes.

Oh Sheri, what a SWEET post! Loved it. I'm so glad you got your See's candy. I've had that when I lived out west. It's always delicious. And your little sweet grand is the best Valentine of all. Loved seeing Lamb Chop and your delicious coffee in the pretty cup, too. The rosary beads with the little roses are absolutely precious. Lovely all! Hugs. Susan

Sheri you are a gal after my own heart. I have been doing much the same sorting through the extras that are not needed. When my mom passed away there were just a few treasures of hers I kept but to make room I gave away things that I had for years but was not enjoying. Your rosary beads are lovely and how special to receive a wonderful gift from your friend. I know how precious the gifts are that come from loved ones and friends. Speaking of See's Candy there is a company that is a partner with us at work that every Christmas they send us a box. You are so right - the candy is delicious. We have a company here that is Heggy's and it is an old family business but wow they too know how to make great chocolates. Thank you too for such a lovely comment on my 10 year post. I am so glad we are friends and can share our lives via the internet. We may never meet in this life but I know we will in the next...won't heaven be great!! For sure we can eat all the candy we want and never gain a pound. That makes me smile :)! Hugs

P.S. Sheri - my mom loved Lamb Chop and she passed that love onto my nephew who when he grew up shopped hard to find her one similar to yours. In fact we placed it in her casket. Thanks for reminding me of that special memory.

Hello, dear Sheri, it is so nice to get such sweet little gifts from loved ones - so thoughtful to remember all the things that you love. I remember Lamb Chop and I watched the show when I was young! We had a See's Candy shop at the mall here years ago, but I haven't gone to a mall in so long. It is so far away. I would go with my Mom and make a day of it and get some chocolates and coffee for a treat. The rosary is lovely and a special reminder of your friend. The painting is very special and such a thoughtful gift. It's nice that you found a good home for your extra furniture piece and a place to go when you need something new. My favorite shop shut down from the pandemic, so it is nice to see this one survived. I hope this is the last of the cold weather and we can look forward to some warm sunshine soon. Sending hugs xo K
