Fall Front Porch

I've never really had a big front porch.  I've lived in new houses most of my life, and with them came small porches.  So when I moved to the mountains, I was glad to have a big porch area.  I wanted to get a pumpkin for my front porch, and I found just the right one at the grocery store.

I was looking for some Mums because they always remind me of Fall, but couldn't find any.  But I did find some mini roses that looked Fallish.

Roses seem to follow me wherever I go, don't they?  This color was very much like the inside of a grapefruit, very pretty.

They were wrapped in an orange cellophane, which looked like Fall, so I kept it on.

I've had this plaque for many years.  My oldest brother, who passed away, used to sing this song often.   One day, I found this plaque that reminded me of him and bought it.  We were 10 years apart, and while he was the oldest, I was the youngest.....just like Nel and her brother.  My mother and brother's birthdays are in September, so I put it on the porch to keep them close to me.

A few small items make a lovely Fall porch.

And my favorite part of the porch is the woods that surround me.

I made some apple cinnamon bread.  It's beginning to feel like Fall around here.

And Jess made some Harvest Mix.  It's starting to become a Fall tradition in her home.

I'm glad you're feeling Autumn coming on, Sheri. It's not quite here yet, but there are signs it's coming. September here is usually a warm month, and it's been a bit muggy, too, so not quite feeling it yet here.

Your porch additions are very nice. Those roses are gorgeous. Glad your family is getting into the Autumn spirit.

Hope you have a good day, my dear! Take care.

Touching tribute to love ones, your porch is even more special
Selecting just the right pumpkin is like choosing the right Christmas tree.

Love your fall porch. The rose looks like the one I got last year at Safeway. If it is it will get so big and beautiful next year. I transplanted mine into a bigger pot and it has so many blooms on it. Your granddaughter has grown so much. She is a beauty!

Jess is adorable! And I love this quote. We do not have a porch, our house was made in the fifties. I really miss having one. Your roses and pumpkin look so good! Nowadays, the grocery stores have so many different pumpkins. I remember Bad To The Bone, but can't remember who sang it. It is so cool, being surrounded by woods. You must see lots of wildlife, like raccons and such.

Fall is my favorite time of year, Sheri. Your pumpkin and roses are perfect for your front porch! The color of the roses is so lovely. Baking and Autumn really go hand in hand. I'm so glad you are safe, my friend. Enjoy your week!

I know what you mean by a big porch. I think that is so beautiful - I have always wanted one myself.
I have never seen roses that color - they are gorgeous! So pretty.
I bet it smells like fall in your house with all that cooking!
Love your posts.

It doesn't quite feel like Fall here - but I do see some signs of it coming. The temps at night have dropped and it is cool in the mornings. Nice.

The color of those roses are beautiful. Looks like a coral...which blends well with orange.

One thing for sure, Fall is coming...

Your pumpkin is the perfect shape! I love your sweet roses and the Bad to the Bone sign is really a wonderful way to remember your brother in a fun way. We're feeling like fall here at th elake and a lot of rain is due -- I'd really like summer to stick around a little bit longer!

Great pumpkin. We usually do not find such at the store. By the time we try to buy one, they have been picked out.

Oh, we would love a Fall. Such great memories.

What a great photo to end the post with! Love that smile.

Bad to the Bone is one of Roger's songs...not that I don't like it, too.

I like your pumpkin, and would love being surrounded by woods.

I have a porch now too and I've never had one but it's a rental so it may not be for long.

Such a great view!

Hi Sheri, yes, roses do follow you and this one is the perfect Fall colour. What fun to have a porch to decorate. The pumpkin is a great start, and that is a very special memory of your brother. The woods look so serene, and must make it a very peaceful location. Apple cinnamon bread: Yum! Nothing better than the smile of a grandchild. Be safe, take care.

Your pumpkin and roses are super cute.
But of course nothing is as lovely and as cute as your
grandkid's smile.

Have a lovely week Sheri.

Good morning darling friend! I LOVE our décor because there is a lot of meaning behind it; the song your brother sang, the roses that have always followed you and a perfectly selected pumpkin. May the squirrels leave your pumpkin alone! I can't put them out. Our little tree burritos (what I call squirrels) GORGE on the pumpkins so no outdoor pumpkins for us!

Of course my eyes go straight to the FOODS in your post! Yummy! That Harvest Mix sounds like a delightful tradition to welcome fall. What a pretty and meaningful porch display you have! I remember that song, "Bad to the Bone!" B-b-b-bad to the bone! And of course young men without a bad bone in their bodies especially loved to sing it! You got a fine pumpkin there! I wonder if it will attract a critter or two, which would be really fun!

Wonderful! Fall is my very favourite season! I love that you have a sign that reminds you of your brother. My mum passed away in June and I have all sorts of things about that make me think of her. I miss her so much.
