Have I Told You Lately

My favorite cookie at Christmastime is sugar cookies. I made a batch yesterday.  Jess makes the best sugar cookies, but I have to say mine turned out pretty good.  I roll the dough in little balls, and they're ready to bake.

They're done!

Now, it's time to frost them with Yummy strawberry frosting.

Listening to Burl Ives makes the baking season more festive,  don't you think?

I didn't put many Christmas decorations out this year, but I still love and appreciate this holiday so much.  Since we are in the Advent season right now, I lit my purple candle, which is the color of Advent.

Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before.  Maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store.  Maybe Christmas, perhaps means a little bit more!

This is the first year I didn't send out cards.  I missed doing that.  Maybe I'll send one through e-mail.

Have I told you lately I love you?

Really delicious looking gingerbread. What raw materials did you use for them?

I couldn't resist a title like yours, Sheri! I think our hearts are overflowing with love and compassion for our family and friends and even strangers on the street right now. Maybe it's the Christmas season doing this work on our heart but the daily news of personal stories of how we're all coping and struggling brings us all together too and we all wish the best for everyone. And I guess that baking is so universal right now! What would Christmas be without sugar cookies? I think, hope, that my little granddaughters will be coming in this weekend and I must have cookie dough ready for them, even if it means that they'll be in the kitchen with their mom decorating them, with me standing back at a safe distance watching the fun. I continue to observe Advent too, another thing made more important by what our world is going through. I admit to pulling out all my Christmas decorations this year though, and there's such comfort at night seeing all the lights around me. But I too failed at Christmas cards, as much as I love them. We do the best we can, don't we? Sending love and hugs to you, Sheri!

Your cookies are so perfect! Thank you for showing the photos. Uniform dough is the key.

Mine turn out looking like they fell from the sky, in not a nice way.

We love you too pretty girl. I love the cookies. My girls were always baking around this time. I sure miss those fun days. I worked nights some years and I would come home and the house would smell so good. Listening to Christmas music and having the candle is heart warming. Blessings to all, xoxo, love Susie

Your cookies look divine!
And do you know, we love Burl Ives in this house?
His voice is Christmas, don't you think?
Thank you for the cozy post, my friend.
Have a lovely evening out there!

Hi Sheri, I made sugar cookies last week too - but they did not have that pretty pink frosting, only a sugar sprinkle. Yours look amazing. Your Advent candle is very beautiful, and I love that you observe the Season in this way. I also have not sent out cards, and I do not really know why. In fact, I have not bought them! I will do some internet cards, asap. It must be the Pandemic Effect, at least we think so. Although our State has been largely free of the virus, we have to observe protocols every day of our lives, and it has been quite fatiguing. Best Wishes for a Happy Christmas to you and your family.

Sheri, those sugar cookies look scrumptious! They are my favorite cookie, too. I'll be making a batch for the family and they also always want chocolate chip. Your Advent candle is so lovely. It's important to remember what Christmas is all about. Take care of yourself and your loved ones.

Did I tell you I made those pumpkin cookies by the way? They didn't look as good - but they loved them.

You start with your sugar cookies in a ball - interesting.

I love Christmas and we are decorating some - but not as much as usual. More simple this year.

I am not sending out cards either.

Love you too!

Thanks for visiting my blog. My side picture is from our Renaissance photo shoot at Whimsy's Muse Fantasy Photography were I work during the Texas Renaissance festival. I really enjoy the seasonal work, I get to create my garb and accessories. When I get around to it I'll post more about that. I love all your Christmas cheer, and enjoyed your thanksgiving post as well. Blessing of health and cheer this holiday season.

I love sugar cookies but the issue with that is there is sugar in all the cookies I love...haha....I did not put out all my Christmas stuff this yr. Just wanted it simple and hints of it here and there. I am loving my new black thin tree though. Thinking I might even keep it up for a bit, take the balls off and enjoy it for a bit longer. I got my cards out, matter of fact if you jump over to the blog today you will see it .....

Those look delicious! Don't stress on cards. People would love new year cards or Valentines -- they would be unexpected and delightful!

I have not baked a single thing...usually my daughter and I bake a bunch. Does not look like it is going to happen this year. Neither of us need the carbs, but I could go for some peanutbutter cookies. I am not sure, but almost think they are my favorites.

I basically just sent out cards to family. I wondered if anyone would want mail at this time.

Dear Sheri I hope there is still time for me to stop by and sample those delicious looking cookies. Strawberry icing sounds just perfect too. I hope you have the best Christmas ever. As for your question about the photo - it was a Christmas card. It would be so nice if we could find a journal with that picture. Just loved the card. Well take care friend and enjoy the holiday season. Hugs!
